If you are not planning camping there don't go. They charge you 19 $ to sit with your kids under the sun......

It's a beautiful lake and a nice change of scenery, from the typical Folsom Lake atmosphere.

SO FUN! Taylor and Jacqueline/Jacklyn (sp?) were super nice and helpful. We were only planning to spend an hour or so there to hydrobike, but we ended spending half the day there. By the end of the day we had 2 pedal boats, 2 hydro bikes and a jetski. The weather was perfect and we had so much fun, time literally flew by really fast. We're definitely returning in a few weeks.

One of their staff came out to help and assured us they didn't think it would be a big deal. It happened again, and we had to get towed back. It took 10 minutes to get ahold of the "emergency line". When we got back to the dock, we circled around for 30 minutes and we were well ahead of our 4 hours. They didn't want to offer any sort of refund and when my husband pushed for one, they said "if it's going to hurt the holiday, we can try to do 10 percent." They had their information completely wrong and then called us to come back after we had left because they had accidentally refunded the whole thing. We could have just let them deal with their mistake but we came back and they still messed up the refund. They were also were ok with letting the next group go on a boat that clearly has safety issues.

Visited prior to the start of the memorial day weekend, so it wasn't as busy. For the most part,…read morealmost all of the guest stayed at the Point, at sites 44 to 55 which the campground treats as lakefront sites. We stayed at site 44 and 45 and noted that 44 to 48 make up sites along the cove. I enjoyed these sites but there is a little bit of a walk down to the water. Site 53 is almost right on top of the water and site 54 and 55 are not that far either. The only real issue is that there isn't a flush toilet at these lakefront sites. Their are two vault toilets but it is possible to walk to the other bathrooms at the second loop which have flush toilets and showers. It is about a 5 to 10 minute walk uphill but definitely worth it for the flush toilets and generally cleaner bathrooms. For the most part almost all the sites on the point are definitely communal. You will be right next to your neighbors so keep that in mind. At some of the sites there was definitely people partying and being loud after 10 but thankfully they had quieted down before 12. It wasn't too bad as I wasn't right next to the group but its something to keep in mind. Additionally as others have noted, a lot of the sites are small and are on uneven ground, so it can be tough to but up a bigger tent. If you are looking for a bit more room and stable ground, consider the center spots in the upper loop. Again, you are much closer to your neighbors but it quite a bit more level. For some real privacy, site 67, 35, 25 are a bit more wooded than the other sites. The roads getting to the campsite were not bad, and our interactions with camp host were great. Karen was very friendly and personable and she seems to remember past interactions quite well. She seemed to get to know my family pretty well. There was only two people working at the time but we didn't have any issues with services or the site. Trash is also collected by carts that they had set up next to the restrooms. Since we were at the point, we didn't really spend time at the day use area, but we did rent a paddle board for the whole day. It was a great value and the kids really enjoyed it I really enjoyed my stay at this site and the only real issue I had is that it a bit more expensive than some other sites I've been to. I didn't get a chance to check out the group sites but I can imagine those would be much better for groups, if not grabbing a bunch of the sites between 44 to 55 also could make a good group site.

The camp was right next to Rollins Lake. A fairly decent oasis amidst the trees in Nevada county. Water was cold which was heaven sent since the outside temperature was averaging around 90. The sand bar was a great hangout place. We took an aluminum boat out to the "bar" which was the only mistake. Can you say "ouch." Aluminum and heat don't mix y'all. Regardless, a good time was had by all. If you need to get away from the heat of SAC, go to this lake.

WONDERFUL NEWS!!! I found a lake that isn't a small muddy pond(yes I am looking at you Folsom Lake…read moreand Camp Far West) late in the summer. The winner is Rollins Lake! Hadnt been here in, oh, I would say 20ish years. So I didn't recognize anything which means I came in with a fresh, open mind. First off the drive up to the lake is really nice. My wife even commented how she loved the trees and the view of the lake was gorgeous. The price was pretty decent, boat and truck was $13 for the day. We put the boat in at Long Ravine Campground which was called Cecil's Cove I believe. The young men at the gate were SUPER friendly, big thumbs up for that. The ramp is a little small and the two parking lots are set up kind of funny turning up a hill, but manageable. While cruising in the 5 mph zone you drive by the marina, the Store/Grill, swimming area, a cool slide that sits in the cove which you can slide off of it into the water, gas station(afraid to know how expensive it was) and boat rentals. I admit I liked the view of it all. The lake is a little on the small side but it also has huge fingers that weave deep into the mountains which are fun to drive into. Many of us commented on how clean the water was and the views were gorgeous. And get this, the water level was seriously 10 feet from maximum capacity. It looked like early summer. I really couldn't believe how full the lake was. We beached up all day and all of us had fun, including the dogs. You have a new fan Rollins Lake. A new fan indeed and I will see you soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmCcq4yhrMY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Siwto_JvBkY

It's a beautiful lake and a…read moredecent campground, but over the last few years, Nevada Irrigation District has become so greedy and that we are, sadly, now looking for another place to camp. Here's why: 1) We were just there at Long Ravine, and the campground was EMPTY, but we had a third vehicle for 4 of the 7 days we were staying. We were forced to pay over $200 for another campsite (which we NEVER used) just to park the third car even though the parking area right across from site 26 was completely empty the entire time! We were willing to pay the $20/night for the car, but this was ridiculous! They stated fire marshal rules, but there was NO evacuation danger! But then on Friday, when the camp filled up more, there was a car parked in the extra parking area with a camp tag! There was also a truck allowed to park on the dirt area between campsites! 2) Upon arrival, one of the stalls in the women's bathroom was taped up and noted out of order. We were told it was being fixed but it never was and the smell only got worse through the week and when we left on Saturday, another toilet was stopped up, leaving only one stall to use on a busy weekend. 3) We paid $68/night for another electric site even though we use tents. We have a boat and not only were we charged the $13/night extra charge for having a boat, but we were also charged a launch fee for each day of our stay, even though we didn't launch the boat every day! That should be part of the camping fee! 4) We went there a month early this year as we were told that they would be releasing the water starting July 1 due to repairs needing to be done, but upon arrival, the lake was already way down so there was no day beach or Great Lake access beaches as they were all in sludge! And they were still charging people $20/vehicle for their day use when it was so steep and rocky that you couldn't even get to the water easily! We get that fees go up, but then we should also see improvements to the camps! And to impose such restrictive and excessive fees is a total turn off. State campgrounds are hands-down much better than this and we'll only use them now.
