John, the robot tech, was very entertaining and made sure everyone understood before going to the next step. What a patient guy!

My son just had his 5th birthday party at Rolling Robots and boy, it was a HUGE hit. The guys at RR were so awesome with kids and you can tell they just love building robots and entertaining kids. They made sure each and every child was attended to, specially the birthday boy. They always checked in with me through out the party to make sure everything was moving smoothly-from robot building to food to cake to the pinatas. The kids & the dads had so much fun battling robots. Almost seemed like dads were enjoying it more than the kids! The robots the kids built was so cute. Even little girls had a lot of fun - they got to use screw drivers and power tools, how cool is that? :) Thank you DJ, John and Jason for making this day so special for my son. You guys were truly wonderful!!

We had my daughters 6th birthday party here. She loves Minecraft. We were able to bring and set up food and decorations about 15-20 minutes before our scheduled time. They allow the kids to battle robots in the arena while waiting for guests to arrive. The main host was amazing and patient with the kids as he taught them to build their take home robots. Birthday girl also gets a shirt! We had about 13 kids total that were definitely entertained and had lots of fun. They also helped with cutting and serving the cake. The overall price was reasonable, definitely recommend!

I arranged to have a party here for my son's 7th birthday. We are here enjoying the party now. The manager and staff have done a great job with the party and the kids are having a great time. All the kids (boys and girls) enjoyed building robots and playing with them. It has been a perfect party for my son.

Made it up the smaller wall and we signed up for Flips & Tricks classes. The staff is THE BEST. My son has difficulty making/keeping friends and "doesn't like to talk to grownups", but he loves the staff here. As a middle-aged mom, I would call the coaches themselves "kods" because they are at least half my age, but they are AMAZING with my son. He "got hurt" his first class and yelled/cried, but the coaches let him have his feelings, got him ice, and taught him how to avoid that situation in the future. After only 2 official classes and 2 longer events, my son has more confidence and says that he "loves the coaches". Hopefully he will make some friends his own age soon too because they have the same love of literally jumping off walls. Photo from the Halloween event which was epic because I saw a ninja turtle and a pickle climbing the wall when I dropped my Little Dude off.

He created fun obstacle courses. Encouraged the kids to give their best effort and cheer each other on. I could not of a more perfect place to host a bday party. I think I heard a story about this place on marketplace in NPR. A mommy friend at work recommended it. I don't post photos of kids online anymore but the place is bright and clean. Sometimes it is worth spending a bit more because of the memories we make. This is one of those places.

We also got to check out the gift shop for the first time and they had so many toys, Knick knacks, puzzles, and other games for kids and families. I gave in and let my kid choose a toy which he had plenty of but because they were different poses I allowed one. The touch tank is still available and they host them at specific times. They also have their two smaller exhibits open which is still fun to explore. We also saw other shows they have such as puppet shows and movies! Depending on the day, they might show different things. They also have their staff come out to present hatchlings of grunions and other sea life presentations. Very cool place, free admission, parking is only $1/hour, and they appreciate any amount of donations you can help with!

The exploration center (which has puzzles and books for the little ones to enjoy) and the nursery are still open (you can still see jellyfish, shrimps/prawns, abalone among other things, we even got to see a jellyfish feeding while we were there!). We plan to come back when the exhibit hall reopens and I hope they still have the Tidepool Touch Tank in the back I loved so much as a child. There's also other free activities for the kids to enjoy like the puppet show and the shark touch tank (super cool), and my son got to touch a shark! This is such a cute and humble little aquarium. It's free admission, but they greatly appreciate donations. Much has stayed the same and much has also changed since I was here as a child. You do have to pay for parking, $1 per hour which is really reasonable. There's a nice quiet beach to enjoy out front. There's a small Offset Coffee bar attached to the aquarium now as well. And there's a little gift shop with lots of educational toys and books. In a world where more and more kids (and adults) doom scroll and become addicted to social media, I really appreciate places like this that are free and still available to the public. It's really impressive how much they still offer and how many cool things you can see and still learn about despite the lack of admission fees. I will keep happily supporting them and we definitely need to preserve and have more spaces like this, as they are becoming more and more rare in the digital age. It's nice to make the trek out here, get off our screens and touch some grass (or sharks rather!). And maybe I'm biased, but I love this place more than the Long Beach Aquarium! (Monterey Bay aquarium is probably truly the best aquarium in California though!) Will definitely come back again and again.

SLIPPERY WHEN WET!!…read more BACKGROUND: The Abalone Cove Ecological Reserve features two beaches (Abalone Cove and Sacred Cove), tide pools, beautiful bluff-top viewing areas, and dramatic crisscrossing trails. The 64-acre Reserve contains a State Ecological Preserve with important natural marine resources and the bottom of the Portuguese Bend landslide area. Two promontories, Portuguese and Inspiration points, frame Sacred Cove with its sea caves, black sand, and rare plants. ESSENTIALS: At least 2 liters of water (depends on distance and temp) Know your limits Comfy hiking shoes with good lugs Layered Clothing High protein food/snacks Electrolytes Camera Hat (optional) Sunscreen Trek poles (optional) ROUTE: I have visited Smugglers Cove, aka Sea Caves several times over the years, always at low tide and have chosen different routes. There's a nice five mile path that goes from the Forrestal Nature Preserve and involves both dirty dusty trails and street walking. Or if you're not into longish distances, limited complimentary parking is available above and next to the caves. The trail to the caves is a dirt and relatively steep trek so good lug sole shoes are a must, just as the rocks are slippery and are best walking on with a good pair of shoes. Therefore, if you want to avoid unexpectedly sitting on a rock, leave your vans and chucks at home. The tide pools are amazing, filled with sea urchins, starfish, and small fishes. The colors of these magnificent creatures are breathtaking and the waves crashing on the plates and through the caves is amazing. If you're lucky, there will be some seals hanging out on the buoy near the tide pools. If you stick around long enough, the sunset is spectacular. The most important thing to remember is to check the times of low-tide, otherwise you will not be able to enjoy the tide pools. At high-tide, the water level rises the waves crash over the tide pools, making it impossible to make a safe venture. And be careful, the rocks are slippery when wet. DISCLAIMER: Hiking is not something that can be taken lightly. It can be life-threatening as you see and hear on the news, people die or get lost all time. Please, if you are going to hike, never go alone and prepare for the worst, hope for the best. Remember when going for a hike, no matter how short you think it may be, always be prepared. Carry at least two liters of water for every five miles (more if the weather is warm), protein bar, nuts, and electrolytes. Wear sturdy lug sole shoes and protective clothing. Some areas the weather can change quicker than a fireman can put on his gear. It is also very important, always always always let a family member or friend know where you are going and when you expect to be back. Lastly, have fun when you hike it up.

I really appreciate Sheila's help coordinating and planning the party. Everything went smoothly. She was very helpful with the flow and made announcements. This helped the guests stay with the program. There was also a bracelet station for kids to enjoy. That was a fun bit. The decorations were beautiful! All the kids loved it. I'll definitely keep this place in mind when it's time to plan our kids' birthdays again! The place is on the smaller side so I'd recommend it for a party of 50-60 guests. No matter how hard you try to Google map this location, the exact location won't show. The Google map will just show you that it is somewhere in the mall. Keep in mind that Del Amo Mall is a huge mall. We learned the hardware by parking 1/4 mile away. The way we found out is we had to look at a touch map inside the mall. It was quite confusing because the legend is not stationary, it rotates 180 degrees from your location. Always remember it is by Dicks Sporting Goods, nothing else. This place is hidden on the 2nd floor. It looks like a store. Deceiving looks from the outside. Arrived at this location which we were greeted for checkin under the birthday boys name. You must take off your shoes to enter, so make sure you have clean socks on. The other way is to wear some plastic booties, but it is frowned upon. That option is usually used as a last resort, like not wearing socks. The party was private, you can only have 1 party at a time. You self cater your food and drinks to the gathering. You can even bring a cooler with alcoholic beverages! Which is a plus for grown adults. Social and gathering with adult beverages males the conversation sweeter. This place is not like a chuckie cheese, it is more intimate with a core family since it is private. Its small so it may seem tight to move around. Place accommodates a jungle playground with plastic balls. Enough for the little ones to be entertained. There is one host that works there to assist with the games, food and photography (someones cellphone). That worker is very helpful. The other host works at the front counter for admission. Also you can even hire a character to visit and play games. Surprise appearance by Sonic! Woot woot! Overall, it is small and private. Good enough for 50 people. I will throw a small gathering here on a rainy day, cold or Superhot day only. There is nothing a public park cant provide that zoomi offers. Especially on a warm comfortable day. :) Lots of parking at the mall. Friendly helpful workers (only 2 of them). The 2 negative things is that stood out is removal of shoes and 1 restroom to use. Overall this place will get the job done to celebrate an ntimate birthday party. Fun fun ! Package pricing is unknown, I was not the host but assume it was a good deal since 90% of the party resources was purchased outside of the venue. Comfortable, cozy and small.
