I had a recent mind blowing encounter with some custard in West Texas and have been craving something similar since. After lunch nearby for Father's Day with the fam, we decided to come here for some dessert. This is a locally owned business located in a strip center in West Pearland. Since we had a larger party with us, we called ahead to make sure they had indoor seating. Majority of the restaurant is work space with small area for customers. The seating consisted of a few benches inside. There was some outside benches a little further down from the Rollie's, but I'm not sure if it's shared with them or not. We were the only people inside when it was our turn to order. There were two employees working that looked less than enthused to be there. Any questions we had were directed to the menu. Customer service goes a long way in my book, and it was lacking that day. We ordered a variety of different things and they all came out staggered which was to be expected. I ordered the hot fudge brownie sundae for myself with chocolate custard. It looked promising at first glance. I went in on the brownie first and it was on the dry side and way to crumbly, but tasted fine. The custard at first was nice and smooth as expected, but then I would get random bites of ice. It kind of threw off the velvety consistency that I love with custard. I also noticed the absence of chopped peanuts that was listed as a topping. I was half way in already so I let it slide. No other complaints on the other items ordered. Overall, my sweet tooth was satisfied, but between the service and not getting my full order, I'm not sure I would rush back anytime soon. We took our kids to Rollie's Frozen Custard on a whim one evening. I really love supporting small local businesses, so Im glad we found Rollie's. I recently found out that they are actually really struggling and are about one bad month away from closing their doors. Their hours are currently limited because of that, they're closed Mon, Tues, Weds, and Thurs for the time being. The menu is pretty big with lots of frozen custard treats to pick from. My son got a Mega root beer float and declared it was the best he has ever had. They use our favorite A&W root beer, which is the best out there. My middle daughter got the chocolate custard in a waffle bowl with chocolate sprinkles. She is all about the chocolate and is a big critic on it too. She says it was definitely top 3 for her and she's already talking about wanting to go back. Opposite of that is my youngest daughters love for Vanilla. She got a small cup of vanilla frozen custard and loved every last spoonful of it. All three of them want to come back to Rollie's already, we're just waiting for them to be open this weekend. I saw them on the news and figured I'd come back. I have been twice but a long time ago. This time I had the turtle custard and it was delicious. It was PACKED with pecans and a good amount of caramel. The only down side to my order was the custard was melting faster than I like, but that might be due to the hot fudge. They have four flavors every day of which Vanilla and Chocolate are the classics and are available all the time. Todays special was Butter brickle, and Butter Pecan. As much as I wanted to dig in, it is important to atleast try not to get carried away...so we got the half and half of the butter brickle and chocolate. Yumm...the girl placed the chocolate at the bottom and the brickle on top so we had to dig all the way through and that made it a mini sunday of sorts. I can't say enough good things about Rollie's. I've been telling everyone so I guess a Yelp review will make it official. First off, it's wayyyy too close to my house. That could be considered a pro or con depending on if I'm sticking to my diet. They make the yummiest custard I've ever tasted. Even pints to take home (shoutout to peppermint bark!) Parking is plentiful, fun music playing inside, super friendly staff who will answer all your questions and let you try before you buy, and photo booth props while you wait (which isn't long because they are so quick) I love the snickers parfait personally. It was hot outside. I was stuffed from eating too much savory food at the Grub Park. On the way out, I decided to grab a small plain vanilla custard from their truck. If your vanilla isn't good, I don't even want to try the others. As they passed me the cold cup, the sun immediately started to melt it. Ever since Coronavirus I've understood the importance of supporting your local businesses around the area rather than big corporate chains. That said, after trying this place, see ya Marble Slab and Cold Stone! This local, family-owned shop is definitely my new hot spot for ice cream! When I went in I was greeted by the employees and was told if I had any questions that they'd be happy to help. I got to the line and the owner- I presume- happily helped guide me through the entire menu (as there is a whole lot of choices to choose from). It didn't take long to get the food at all! I didn't really know what to expect from frozen custard cause I haven't tried it before. But when I ate it, it far exceeded my expectations! If you haven't tried any form of frozen custard whatsoever, it's like a more thick, creamy, dense version of your typical run of the mill ice cream. The strawberry topping isn't overpoweringly sweet and the cheesecake bites taste fresh compared to the stale flavor I get from marble slab or cold stone. Plus, this seems to melt slower than other forms of ice cream! I'll be back, next time with more people!
