Amazing place! We were greeted as soon as we entered. I was transported back in time. Nostalgia. It reminded me of looking for sheet music with my mother, in a store just like that when I began playing the flute in middle school and later in highschool marching band. Now my daughter is joining a highschool band and interested in playing drums. Time flies. The store was packed with instruments. They had drum sets, acoustic and electric guitars, strings, mallets, sticks, you name it and I'm pretty sure they have it. They offer drum lessons on location every week for a reasonable price. I can not say enough great things about this place. If you live in the Victor Valley, and you're in the market for an instrument, related accessories, or pro audio equipment, this is the place to go. If there is something you need, they have it, or they can get it. Need to have your new or old guitar or bass professionally set up? They can do it. Need to rent a band instrument for your child? They can do that as well. Do you need lessons to better play your instrument and impress your friends? They've also got you covered. I haven't played my 6 string acoustic guitar in a while. It needed new strings, and that was discouraging me from playing because I haven't strung my guitar in years, and the last time I did it, I did a very sloppy job. I decided to splurge on getting my guitar strung "professionally" at a music store. Using Google and Yelp, I found Roll Over Beethoven's Music Store. I gave them a call, and the man on the phone was very helpful and pleasant to talk to. He answered my questions about pricing and availability. I decided to go down that day (a Sunday) because he said it wasn't very busy, and he could have my guitar strung while I wait. What a charming music store. I really enjoyed the ambiance when I entered the building. Right away, I was greeted and someone looked at my guitar. He quoted me the same price for stringing new strings over the phone but commented that my fretboard was really cruddy. He asked me if I would like him to clean, polish, and oil the fretboard when he changed the strings. I thought the price was reasonable, so I agreed to the job. When I went and picked up the guitar, it was beautiful. It sounded great, and the frets and fretboard looked like new. He also did a fantastic job stringing the guitar. I really recommend this store. The staff is super nice and helpful, and seem to go above and beyond for their customers. I felt the pricing was reasonable as well. I will be back. Summary: This store is a haven for beginner and expert musicians whether you need repairs or are looking to add to your collection! I brought my Martin in as the lack of humidity here led to the neck of my guitar needing some relief. I was immediately distracted by the wide variety of instruments and an associate came over to help. He took my guitar to the front to work on and let me peruse their products. I sat down in a corner with a Fender Strat and let myself dream about the day I'd own one. He clearly explained what the problem was and how he would fix it. When I was done testing out some guitars, my guitar was ready to be tested and I could leave within a few minutes. My new favorite store in the High Desert for sure! read more

This is our go-to place when we need music equipment or paraphernalia in a jiff. They seem to carry most of the things one would need as a musician from instruments to accessories. We've had to purchase cords before. Recently I had to buy some Elixir guitar strings for my guitar and they had the ones that I wanted. I also needed some cleaning oil and wood polish for the guitar and they had those too. The prices are reasonable as I checked them online against Amazon and they were very comparable after including shipping and taxes. The guys working there are chill and knowledgeable too. A really awesome little shop that more than makes up for lack of inventory with stellar personal service. That said, even with their limited selection, I've always managed to find what I needed there. They price match Guitar Center or Sweetwater so you can still get corporate deals and support a small independent business fighting among the big dogs. Matt is a great dude that goes out of his way to make sure you get what you're looking for. The High Desert doesn't have a Guitar Center and frankly it doesn't need one. Roll Over Beethoven more than does the job. Their parking lot is a challenge though, be cautious pulling in and out of that place. read more

I didn't want to go as far as write a review but here I am. I don't feel as if I got my money's worth and, if I had my way, they would finish the job that they started...but that would mean visiting the store for a 3rd time. 1) I came in for a simple set-up on a Strat, new strings, action and intonation. They worked quickly but I was unsatisfied with the work, there was buzzing on the 17th fret when I bent up to B on the high E. I should have tried the action before I left the store. But I didn't...BIG MISTAKE 2) Returned to the store a day later. The guy that attended me (the guy that did the work) looked at me like I was from Mars and treated me as such. Kinda rude. Perhaps this guy hasnt heard the phrase, the customer is always right. (I know his name but this is not a personal attack on him....just his customer service skills or lack thereof.) Instead of helping me, he answered the phone because it was "his boss". (I remember calling their phone during business hours and no one picked up, hmm....) Anyway, instead of asking me to leave the guitar and re-do the work, he asked if I cared if he quickly loosened the screws of the tremolo...to fix the buzzing that he was supposed to fix initially. I agreed. Quick fix, right? WRONG. I agreed, not knowing, that when he did that, I wouldn't be able to do multi-string bends and keep the unbent notes in pitch. Think country bends. Anyways, I'm a guitar player of 25 years, not a tech. I have done hundreds of gigs and have a few sessions under my belt....I'm no slouch. I can play 'em, not set them up. He should have known to tell me what would happen if the bridge floated. For 95% of my musical career, I have played a hard tail guitar, Les Pauls, SGs, Juniors etc. This is my first Strat. And this not a Floyd, why would I go flat on certain strings when I bend others? I don't wish him ill will. All the other people I interacted with at the store were nice. Now, I have to take my guitar to ANOTHER tech, probably on the other side of the hill and am out some $25 for a less than stellar setup. Thankfully, I have other guitars that I can use for recording. Its sad because I didn't want to go to a big box store. I love mom and pop shops. In the future, I'll just go to Guitar Center. I'm never going to spend my money in this store again. read more

What a nice little music store. I rented my alto sax from here and it's great! Tommy and his wife are so amazing. Very helpful and sweet. The only reason why I'm giving it 4/5 stars is because I think they need more instruments to choose from. New and ones to rent. They have a ton of guitars but that's really it from what I saw. He gave me 1 sax to look at. I'm a person who likes choices. That is the only negative I have for this place. When I buy my own sax I will make sure to buy from him because he did say he will be able to order me whichever sax I wanted. read more

I usually stop by Roll Over Beethoven's to browse and jam on some of the basses that are on display and sold at the store. There's pretty much a lot of instruments in the store such as guitars, drums and other percussion instruments, band instruments, music books, and other music accessories. Throughout all of the times I've visited the store, I've only bought two items. Those items were a guitar tuner and strap locks for the strap on my Soundgear(Ibanez) SR-500 bass over 5 years ago. As for the service, it's very friendly and helpful and the store also offers musical lessons as well.. And since the store is local, it is the best place to buy musical instruments other than a pawn shop or having to take a trip to a Guitar Center or Sam Ash that is out of the High Desert too. P.S. Tom's Music was located in Victorville, was a "rival" of "Beethoven's for many years. But that particular store has been out of business for some time. read more
