I'm vaguely familiar with ballroom and can certainly say I've watched plenty of YouTube videos. I'm definitely glad I came here because I realized a few things. 1) As I tried to put together my routine, I realized I knew only a few basic moves, so everything became repetitive and boring. 2) I don't know how to teach my husband how to lead. That's an argument waiting to happen. 3) Really cool lifts and moves have a certain way to do them properly so they can be performed safely. (Don't want to fall/be dropped or pull a muscle.). I had an awesome wedding dance (to the whole song). Lots of compliments! After the wedding was over, I had a lot of fun and came back as a student. The hubby didn't join, so I got to explore dancing on my own with fellow students and teachers. Once you have a program going, you actually get a lot included! They have a TON of group classes of all different styles and every Friday is a dance practice party. They have several themed nights, so if you want to dress up, this is your opportunity. The teachers are so awesome and supportive! I did a solo performance, and all the teachers flock up to you after and congratulate you! Really gets you excited to perform again! If you have a competitive bone in your body, you have plenty of opportunities to showcase and perform at larger ballroom competition events, some local (Bellevue), others international like Cabo and Italy! What's also cool is Arthur Murray is an international franchise. I have a cousin in Ontario, Canada, so while he takes classes there, we can meet up at one of the Arthur Murray international events and see each other at competition! I love this group! I had no background in dance and didn't research any of the options. We completely got lucky that the studio closest to our home was this local gem. Within the first year or two it became more obvious that my daughter was gaining a lot of skills and developing into a successful dancer. Over the last 13 years my daughter has added hours and hours of weekly dance to her schedule, spending most of her time at her second home with her dance family. It has been healthy, supportive, challenging and transformative. My daughter has seriously focused on dance, benefiting from classes in every style (ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, musical theater, hip hop, contemporary) and had great success on their competitive dance team, earning scholarships and invitations to many programs. This even included winning a national competition in 2019. Since the pandemic the faculty has gone above and beyond to keep students safe, connected and progressing, with all of the changing requirements. All of the staff have been wonderful mentors for my children. But the owners Shelley and Kary are incredibly committed, talented artists who take pride in every detail of their studio, classes, productions and responsibilities to care and teach our children. The healthy philosophy of Allegro is, more than ever, something that all children can benefit from; novice, experienced, inexperienced, experienced, all genders and backgrounds. I went here for my first dance lesson outside of college (because of covid, this was over a year…read moreago!) for the Hip Hop I/II lesson that took place around lunchtime of Sunday. Although the instructor was a substitute, I felt the quality of the lesson was not diminished at all. Pace of the lesson is beginner friendly, and even though it took me the first half of the hour to adjust and remember the vibe of dancing, I was still able to pick up the fundamentals and feel confident in myself dancing a few 8 counts at the end without hesitation. I had a great time, even with the fact that the class was really small (about 6 people), as it normally feels a bit intimidating for me to dance in small groups, at least for now. The only issue for me is the commute as I don't have a car to commute from downtown Seattle, but whenever my friend with a car wants to do more dance lessons, this will certainly be the first place I will think of! Besides, this is one of my coworkers go-to dance studio in the past before he moved closer to the city, and he has mentioned that before covid, some lessons are so popular you have to pay in advance to secure a spot!

I've asked the dance studio to please deal with this problem, but they simply ignore me. Sometimes people stand outside laughing and talking as well. My daughter, also did not learn anything new, was more advanced than the others so she was also bored. SO MUCH DOWN TIME. Coaches have no plans, teenagers are running the front desk, no adult supervision, they messed up our schedules not once but five times. The gym is dirty, old equipment, coaches don't start on time, no safety training when kids get hurt (several friends of ours have gotten hurt with no follow up safety), management does not care, late or no answer on messages, phone calls, texts. Would highly recommend you think twice before sending your children here.
