I agree with Fuzzy D. Rogue Valley Door is a solid company. They build a nice product and because its natural wood, it has to be taken care of. If you don't have a sufficient overhang and your door will get a lot of sun during the day, then you'd be better served going with a fiberglass door which is built to withstand the elements. Wood has to be taken care by sheltering it from the sun / rain with an adequate overhang. Seal all 6 sides, especially the top and bottom where water has an easier time getting in. Lastly, if you're buying a wood door whether its Rogue Valley or Simpson, do your research. Ask questions. Plan ahead. These are special order doors so will take time to be built. Hire a qualified finisher and installer. But before anyone touches your new beautiful door, inspect it for any flaws. If you see something, say something. Resolve any potential issues right away. read more

Bought a Rogue Valley Door from Soundview Windows and Doors. The following is the review I left for Soundview. My new Rogue Valley door is cheaply made and will require day of finishing work just to get it to paint quality. DO NOT BUY ROGUE VALLEY. And shame on Soundview for suggesting this company: I ordered a wooden SDL French exterior door with two sidelights for nearly $8,000 (installation was an additional $2,500). Matt, the salesperson, was great throughout the sales process. Unfortunately, everything went downhill after the installation began. The door arrived with a broken pane, gouges & tears in wood, peeling primer, and large globs of adhesive in all four corners of each of the 35 divided-light panes, which would make painting the door extremely difficult. Rogue Valley doors are built well and will last a lifetime provided they are installed and finished correctly. Wood doors must be finished on all six sides with a stain that will not absorb heat and at least 2 coats of a good quality clear sealant. The same goes for paint, do not use black, green or red as they will absorb heat and react quickly to temperature changes. They also need a good overhang equal to twice the height of the door. A Rogue Valley door is like a fine piece of furniture, and you wouldn't set a fine piece of furniture on your porch without giving it some protection. I have been in the business for 40 years, and 90% of the problems with a wood door are due to poor finishing and installation. read more

Worst experience ever. Spent $1,200 and failed door in less than two months due to extreme climate sensitivity and bad joints and gaps in the bottom rail, as many others have experienced. They said they would come look at it and made us stay home from work for two days, no showed, and then had the retailer call us to say we were out luck due to warranty restrictions -- all without seeing it, but after we sent them proof via photos. Little do they know I know business law and there is an implied warranty on this product to be free from defects, regardless of their silly warranty only designed to protect them and not the customer. If still no response in a day or two I will be contacting my legal plan -- they just don't seem to be taking this seriously. Will never buy from them again. But I will certainly make sure this does get resolved. read more

We have (had) 3 large exterior doors. The first set, even after keeping painted, rotted out in about 5 years. We replaced them with the same so they would match the rest of the house. They rotted out in 3 years. I just replaced them with lifetime fiberglass doors. Very expensive to do, but no more rot...ever. read more

Sold me a dutch door. First the frame was damaged and had to be rebuilt. Then the second frame was damaged and had to be rebuilt. Then the lower panel slipped and they said it wasn't covered by warranty because I have a storm door. Absolutely terrible company. Do not buy from them under any circumstances. read more

I ordered a door from this Rogue Valley. I only wish I had read the other reviews here on Yelp first. Everything you've read is accurate. I received the door, and my painter immediately sanded it and put on two coats of primer. The door installer came a week later to install it, and the painter painted it shortly thereafter. As soon as I received the door I noticed what appeared to be a small check mark, which the installer commented on and said "you may want to let someone know about this, you shouldn't see this on a brand new door." I assumed it was a minor imperfection and would easily disappear once the door got a proper paint job. The checking continued - and expanded to encompass both sides of the door. Finally I got frustrated, because I had paid almost $1,000 for the door, plus money to get it painted. I contacted Concord Lumber where I bought the door, they contacted the "distributor" of the door which is Huttig Building Products. They arranged a time to come out and inspect the door for warranty coverage since it was less than one year. Concord Lumber warned me that they are very quick to deny a warranty claim for basically any reason, but I was convinced that once they see the door they would see it is obviously a warranty issue. So - after 6 weeks of waiting for them to schedule they finally came out. Took one look at the door and blamed the painter, the delivery, the weather, and anything else for the checking and cracking. They advised I repaint it and re-sand it! I said no - it needs to be replaced. Frankly even if they replaced it for free, I'd still have to pay for it to be re-painted and given the quality of the first door, I'm not sure that's a good resolution. Ordered wooden entry door unit with sidelights. After less than 6 months, the door started cracking down the center and sap started bubbling from both the door and sidelights. In my attempt to request they cover this through warranty, they balked and said it was my fault because the front door gets too much sun. The door was primed and painted as required -- but rather than back up their faulty product, they chose to take another route. I wouldn't use one of their doors if they gave it to me for free now...I would rather spend another $2500 with a company that knows the value of my business. read more

I am a owner/ journeyman painter, with 20 years of experience. I have had two jobs with rogue valley doors. On both accounts the doors have many scratches, bad stains and the veneer has some of the roughest edges I have seen in a long time. I should not have to glue the verneer down on the edges before I sand. I should not have to shave off large strips of veneer that has been left proud. The exterior doors failed in the first month from the MDF that makes up the center of the doors expanding from the moist air, even with 4 coats of marine varnish on top, bottom, sides and face. read more

Approximately seven years ago I had the misfortune to buy Rogue Valley Dutch door through Chapman lumber. Within the first year or so we had to have the company send the technician because of the problem of hanging the door. Two days ago the bottom half of the door completely came apart. This is an exterior door which has been painted and kept in perfect condition by us but unfortunately is so poorly constructed that water was able to get into to the door and completely ruined it. The door was very expensive and certainly seven years is not a long time. My house was built in 1750 and I have many original doors which still are in perfect condition. I briefly spoke to customer service at Rogue who asked for a photo which I sent. Three calls later and two calls to the president (Don Duncan) have resulted in absolutely zero response. Chapman lumber says that the company only warrantees them for one year which I understand in normal situations but I cannot comprehend how a exterior wood door as expensive as this should only last seven years. I absolutely, absolutely warn you not to buy this door or probably any door from this company because of their attitude. P. S. I just heard from Kim from Rogue Valley who said that the door should have had an overhang. I pointed out that even with an overhang there was no way the door would not be subjected to the outdoor elements. She then told me I shouldn't have a wooden door on my house - I have wooden doors all over my property- what she really meant to say is don't have a Rogue Valley wooden door. We are extremely disappointed with Rogue Valley and its distributor, Kelleher. We and our contractor have spent a small fortune replacing door after door that failed. We asked RV to help with some of the expenses (beyond door price) and they denied the problems were its responsibility--even after visiting our house and confirming the doors were defective. I would steer very clear of the company and its products. read more

A horrible experience with a doors from Rogue Valley. Ordered custom wooden french doors and hired a company to finish them. As they started the finishing process, they showed me multiple manufacturing related issues with the doors. Most substantial one was that the frame width on top and on the bottom differed more than 1/4 of an inch, which made installation impossible. I had to pay the installer extra for fixing the frame. I made photos of all the issues and sent to Rogue Valley - they promised to investigate it. I know that they sent two guys to the dealer where I bought the doors but those two guys never contacted me and Rouge Valley afterwards never responded on my follow up communication about the issues. Bonus: Just today the installer, who installed my doors, contacted me saying that he installed another Rogue Valley door today and had very similar experience as with my doors. Hope this review will help to prevent multiple disappointments and save money for a low quality products from Rogue Valley. read more

Ordered a Dutch door, waited two months, finally got it and was really surprised at the total lack of quality control at Rogue Valley, TMCobb, the California middle man, and my local authorized dealer Hayward Lumber in Pacific Grove Ca. The dead bolt hole was so torn that even if it was patched I wouldn't be able to stain it....I couldn't even find a lock big enough to cover the damage. There were splits and torn wood at the top and along the insulation between the top and bottom parts of the door. This damage was more than cosmetic-- water could easily get into these splits and tears. The warranty wouldn't be valid anymore and I hadn't even hung the door! I returned the door, but plan on avoiding all three companies when I order a new door. For thousands of dollars, customers deserve a quality product. read more

We had two Rogue Valley doors installed in our house in the main front and back entries. Not long after install and (professional) painting they both showed the problem of "sapping" as described and shown in pictures by another reviewer. We went through multiple rounds of repair and repainting on both doors but the sapping issue would always recur, sometimes within a couple of days of repair. Now, less than two years after installation, we have just had both doors removed and replaced (and these are very expensive doors). The doors are clearly not adequately cured by this manufacturer. We live in Seattle so if "too much sun on the doors" is a problem (see other review) then it is difficult to imagine an environment where they could be used without a problem (somewhere where the sun doesn't shine). read more

Ordered 8 custom doors from Rouge Valley Door. One was defective. They agreed to replace it. After an 11 week wait, I discover I owe an additional $140.50 to have door stained and finished to match the others. This was after I paid in full in the month of May. It is now the middle of October. There are many other door builders out there. Buyer beware. read more

a cherry fire rated door was ordered and upon delivery it was found to have Scrapes nicks and chipping venear. The joints had gaps and general workmanship was poor. But wait it gets worse....they agreed to make another door and when it arrived it was the wrong size. DUH. I will never never buy another product from them. read more

I ordered over $25,000 worth of doors from this company through a local store, for a new construction home. Each door was over $500.00, not cheap. I haven't even moved into the house and one door has started spliting down the center in several places. The rude rep was out yesterday, and like these other reviews, they not doing anything about it. He was very rude, spoke down to me. He must think, because I'm a woman, and a senior, I don't know what I was talking about. He said, they can't replace the door, that I would have to pay for half. Really, you really think, after spending over $25,000 I would give this company that sells cheap stuff, anymore of my money. Sad thing, you don't know where the local merchants are getting their crappy stuff from. No, I would not recommend this company, or the local merchant who sold these doors to me. What's sad, it will be the local merchant who will have to belly-up with manufactures like this one...if they don't wise-up, and stop pushing these bad doors on to the consumers. read more
