Pro tip: my husband ended up buying a tuxedo for our wedding rather than renting one, since the cost (when buying from RS) wasn't much more. Flash forward 21 years and it was so fun to take our identical twins there to buy proper suits for their high school prom. Things hadn't changed in the intervening decades: still the same impossibly attentive service (shout out to David & Malik) and outstanding prices. And efficient! My Dad bought suits here in the 1960's. When I was growing up and needed a suit we would come here or Academy Award (which is dead now) for the higher end of the suit district. I took my son here recently for a suit and after shopping around and seeing lots of low end polyester blends found that the stuff my Dad taught me still holds up. Roger Stuart is the middle ground selling high quality 100% Wool suits for reasonable prices. You can get much cheaper across the street and you can pay much more around the corner, but this is the $300-$400 range for quality suits. My son has only had one suit for homecoming dance in highschool, he doesn't dress up and doesn't care much about suits but after trying 3 or so places he admitted what we found at Roger Stuart was noticably a nicer suit. After my offputting experience at Men's Warehouse, DTLA was suggested and per the Internet, Roger Stuart seemed to be highly recommended. The level of service I got was super. I can't say anything bad about this place expect the styling was not what I like to wear. Will stick with made to fit tailored clothing but I have not found a good alternate domestically. This place is also in a challenging neighborhood. It ain't the 'hood kind of danger but one where is in the proximity of Skid Row. You could get poked with a drug addicts needle or spat on. We've been coming here for a few years now and we just love this LA staple for men's suits. David helped us today to pick out 4 suits, dress shirts, ties, belts, and even socks. David was a delight, extremely well versed in the inventory, and has a keen eye for style when it comes to putting it all together. First off I really wanted to give them 1 star because of my experience, but I will be honest in stating that they have a lot of decent quality items at decent prices especially when they are on sale. This is completely about the service. 1. We drove down because of a massive sale, The main sales gentleman didn't bring us one item on sale and instead tried to upsell us on everything. It took me until the register to realize that, by then I was admittedly complacent and went ahead with the items. 2. He must not be able to measure, because this is the primary reason for my grief. I trusted him to be able to bring me a sports coat that would be at least close to my size. What he brought looked good when I was holding it out in front of me. He suggested it looked good when I tried it on. When I brought it to a local Tailor (because they were far enough that it was not worth a return trip) they showed me the alterations they could do wouldn't work and the price was about a 1/3 of the jacket. Yes if I would of used their tailor maybe I could have caught it, but doesn't change the fact he took my measurements and brought me an oversized jacket, which I did not realize before it was too late. 3. Additionally he tried to rush us through it as quick as possible. TLDR: You should be okay if you go there for the sales, prices, and quality, but know your style and size and do not get any assistance. read more

I was traveling for work, and my clothes got lost by the laundry service. I went in to this store on a Sunday mid-day, and the staff was amazing. Malik helped me find three pairs of slacks, and had Albert the tailer mark adjustments, and they were ready within 30 minutes. Malik also suggested an amazing Jacket, that fit perfectly off the rack, and didn't require any adjustments. I was also able to get a dress-shirt and socks, all for an amazingly low cost comparatively to what I would have paid elsewhere. Drive up on Good Friday from OC to garment district to specifically get a linen suit for wedding in Mexico. Bounced around several places on 12th but no one had linen suits. One store suggested Los Angeles Street between 6th and 9th. And that is where we found Roger Stuart. I knew what I wanted and the gentleman who helped me listened and understood. He took my measurement, and the 3rd suit I looked at was the one I tried on, and ended up buying. He helped me with proper wedding color shirt, tie, kerchief, and socks. I've been buying suits here for years. These are not your typical macys or 3 for $199 suits. I used to buy Roger's Emilio yuste made in Spain suits and now buy his DiRuggiero made in Portugal line of suits. The quality is on par with real Italian suits like canali but at a much better price. They do have other suits made in china at lower prices, but if you want a real European made quality suit at a great price, this is the place. I've listened to RSC ads on an radio for years. They are not very good but they repetitious. Well when I finally needed to buy a new suit they had my attention. It's DTLA in the fashion district. The store is dated and not fancy. You are buzzed in through a swinging door. Medium size with maybe 8 rows of two levels of suits. I was greeted when I walked in but then roamed around a bit on my own looking. A lady asked how I was doing. Another gentlemen asked if I was looking for size ##L and I laughed because I knew he could tell my size by just looking at me. A Pro. Then the nice gentleman up front came over to get down to business. I told him I needed a navy blue so we looked one. He then suggested charcoal was the new standard one suit does it all fashion. He suggested a second option in a flashy blue but not today. He then offered a brown blazer as a do everything else including with jeans style jacket. Looked swell but again not today. (Maybe next week!) They don't do alterations there, but there was a shop 3 doors down. One of the employees escorted me there carrying my new suit. An hour later my pants and jacket sleeves were done. Wow that was a fantastic experience. The service was professional not fawning or pushy or typical. It was just enough knowledge and confidence to make it happen seamlessly! Haha. No upsales on shirts or socks or hankies or belts. They have it all there but that wasn't their style to push. If you said you needed the whole shebang it would have been all laid out for you. I will take my 14y/o son there next. And probably pick up that sport coat. read more
