The only problem I had now was deciding what to get. They boys settled on a cupcake each, and at $2 each, I was surprised how cheap they were. Not surprisingly, these cupcakes disappeared at the earliest opportunity... :-) For me though, the cherry almond slice was hard to resist. So shiny. So gooey. Such a crisp base...... *drool*.... this is what I wanted. The only shame was that I could not have an awesome cup of coffee with it... Still, if you are after a sugar fix and are in Gordon, this is a great option.

I love pretzels (and they make a couple of styles) and most of the ones I see at the mall are either hard and dried, out or greasy and buttery. These pretzels on the other hand were fresh and baked with just enough sea salt to give it a little bit of flavor. This also seems to be the local spot for coffee. They make perfect presents and are devilishly delicious to boot. For the rest of the year you can go to Bertrand's for your cake or macaroon fix. In fact everything he bakes is scrumptious - so much so that I often have to stride purposefully past in case I get lured inside by the promise of a cupcake or one of those mouthwatering macaroons. My only wish for this cafe is a makeover! I would love to see the place redesigned to make MUCH better use of the space and create a pleasant place to actually sit in and enjoy your coffee and cake. It's a crying shame, considering all the competition for cafes in the area, that Bertrand's just doesn't cut it in this regard.
