They wanted to charge more than a dealership to repair the car. When I called them out on it, of course the hustlers came up with we have to take the motor out to replace a starter. I even offered to pay them what the dealership had quoted me. They declined the offer. I then contacted Pickups Plus and spoke to Blake. I told him the situation with the car, told him I was out of state and needed a quote to replace the starter. Blake's quote came back $100 under the dealership and $155 under the hustlers. I had the car picked up from Sevcik's Service Center 2200 Longmire Drive College Station, TX 77845 and towed to Pickups Plus. Blake had my daughters car up and running a few hours later. I originally asked them to coordinate with a dealership in Navasota, TX, to perform a pre-sale inspection. They did inform me of a Check Engine light, but told me it was related to a faulty hood latch. This turned out not to be the issue. Instead, it actually deals with the Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR)/NOx reduction system reporting levels below acceptable levels. While I can't specifically prove that they were derelict in their diagnosis, I find it hard to believe that they didn't catch this issue. I bought an OBD II scanner on Amazon and discovered the problem right away. They were professional and courteous, which should me lauded, but I'm still disappointed this issue wasn't caught during the inspection.
