Went to meet a friend on a Friday night around 9 pm and the place was so empty! I had to go inside to make sure they were actually open. There were 2 people at the bar and a couple in the dining room. The guy at front was very nice, asked where we wanted to sit and we chose the bar. The bartender was awesome, so friendly and working hard even with just 4 of us there! My friend ordered a drink and a beef taco. I had a Modelo. The chips & salsa are just ok. Nice to have a snack while drinking. Prices were reasonable but I can't comment on their food since I didn't have anything besides the chips. The restaurant was clean and big and comfy. Bar was great with t.v.s and lots of seating. Hopefully they stay open because its a great local spot to get drinks with friends. read more

The decor was nice, but unfortunately that's where the positives ended for us. The restaurant was nearly empty, which should have been my first clue. The salsa tasted like it came straight from a can, and the pico de gallo looked gray and anything but fresh. When our food arrived, my husband and I just stared at each other wondering what we were actually eating. My taco came open-faced with two or three huge chunks of chicken, about 2-3 inches long, topped with barely melted cheese. I had to shred the chicken myself. The food was only slightly warm, while my husband's meal was unbelievably hot, like it had just been microwaved. The temperatures were so inconsistent that it felt like our meals had been sitting around and were reheated differently. My husband's taco looked like it was filled with all the crispy scraps left behind on the grill rather than freshly prepared meat. The presentation and quality were honestly disappointing we spent the entire time looking at each other saying, "Oh my God, what are we eating?" We left wishing we had gone somewhere else. I haven't been to Rodrigos in a while and I have never been to this location so we thought we would give the happy hour a try before heading to the winery. I have to say the restaurant was a aestheticly nice and clean. It was absolutely dead. The salsa tastes like non seasoned and non blended mushy tomatoes. The nachos were a good size for 10.00. I usually love their side salad because the dressing is pretty good and they top with a lot of cheese. This time the dressing tasted watered down. My cheese enchilada was burnt. Been driving by this restaurant for three years and hemming and hawing about going. The reviews weren't terrific and with so many Mexican restaurant choices in this town, we just never made the decision to eat here until tonight. Walking in was a huge surprise-the place was definitely more upscale than expected. Very lovely decor and a nice sized bar. Hostess was lovely and sat us quickly. Unfortunately what followed was just mediocre service and average food. At first our server was prompt and attentive taking our order. We ordered a fajita burrito with carne asada and asada supreme nachos. The hubby didn't love the salsa (tasting like jarred salsa like so many before us have said) and asked for any other options. We settled on the tomatillo sauce from the kitchen. It was an improvement. The food was average at best and honestly it reminded me of the old Wendy's commercial- where's the beef? Neither the son nor my husband could locate more than a couple of diced pieces of steak in their items. The nachos were simply a huge plate of chips, some barely melted cheese , black olives , beans, sour cream and guacamole. Not a lot of taste nor coverage over those chips. Son ate one third of his burrito and didn't care for the taste of the sauce. Once the food had been delivered, our server was off taking care of others never to be seen again- we had to ask another server for our check.. I was a passenger in a car that came to this restaurant. I was told that this place is really good and has great Mexican food. We had just left Wine country and was hungry. The hostess walking in was very friendly and nice. We were seated right away. Everything on the menu looked so good but my go to no matter which restaurant is always a chimichanga. The server, Derek was very polite and friendly. The chips and salsa were awesome. After demolishing two bowls of chips and salsa the food arrived and let me tell you, it definitely ranks in the top three that I've had in recent months. It was very good . I was full before I finished, but it was so good. I kept eating. Made it hard to get out of the booth. Little over eating humor there. This place was really good and yes, I would return. I just read that Rodrigo's is run by the same people who owned Don Jose. I loved Don Jose in Lake Elsinore. The salsa was so good, tangy, chunky with cilantro and no cumin. We recently moved within walking distance to Rodrigo's and ate there a couple of times. The restaurant is beautiful. The bar is comfortable. We always order crunchy chicken tacos and those were delicious. However, the deal breaker is that salsa. It's so mild, it doesn't taste like Don Jose, it has cumin in it. I asked for spicy salsa, and that wasn't great, either. I'll be back, but I'll be a little sad about the salsa. A crunchy chicken tacos with good spicy salsa is perfection. read more

Wow! Good things are happening at Rodrigo's. My wife had not been for a while and decided to check them out tonight. So glad we did. I got the Carnitas plate and my wife got the carne asada burrito. Flavors were spot on! My wife said the previous two visits were sub par on the flavor, kinda bland, boring food. Tonight was a 180 degree turnaround. We both loved our meals! The burrito was large enough that we had to bring some home but I had to finish my Carnitas and the sides. It was so good I couldn't stop eating until it was all gone. We have been here a handful of times and each time was great. Derick is the best server. He is nice, friendly, and on top of it. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays which my kids loved. My kids ordered the chicken and fries and bean and cheese burrito. They loved it. I had the veggie fajitas and asked for less onion. :) The veggies were delicious. Definitely a go to for me. This breaks my heart. What was once our absolute most favorite restaurant is now such a big disappointment, every visit for the past few visits. The blended coconut margaritas is what we come for and it's just not the same, the ones we ordered tasted like watered down tequila and nothing else. The food portions are substantially less while the prices continues to rise. We sat at the bar while Jesus ran around like a crazy person, trying his best to take orders, deliver food, make drinks and tend the bar at the same time. There were two hostesses on shift and one busboy, it was completely ridiculous and while we were only one of three parties at the bar, we did not receive the attentive service we have grown accustomed to. I can understand that on a Thursday night there shouldn't have to be a surplus of workers on a shift, but to expect one person to do it all is crazy. I've eaten at Rodrigo's once before so when I wanted tacos today for taco Tuesday, I decided to go by and pick up a to go order because it was on the way home. I've always said that you can tell a lot by a Mexican restaurant by first tasting the rice and beans. I know that they are not making their rice and beans homemade. It tasted like it was out of a can and the tacos were not good. I'm disappointed because I spent over $15 for this small plate and then tipped decent for a to-go order and I was just not happy with it at all. Most of it was thrown away. I hate to be the one to complain , but I usually don't leave bad reviews unless it's pretty bad. I know authentic Mexican food and I won't go back there anymore. 1st time here. Decided to have dinner with the family and this place is down the street from where we live. Arrived and got seated at 7pm. We waited over 1 hour for our food and the place wasn't even busy. The server came by our table after 40 min of getting seated and taking our order to apologize. He said "Not sure if anyone told you, but there's a delay because there's a fundraiser out back. I'm sorry for the delay." First of all, no one told us that the wait may be this long and they shouldn't prioritize a fundraiser over the patrons dining inside. They should have enough staff to serve those dining inside and the people outside. If that's the case, they should probably warn People that it's going to be a long wait. After waiting over an hour, we asked server for an update on our order. He went to check and said there was still another ticket ahead of us. But who knows how long that would take. Many of the diners inside were all eating chips and salsa and only 1 table had food. So I couldn't imagine our food would be coming anytime soon. We decided to leave and go else where. Went today for my birthday dinner. Menu is small. I ordered the Carne Asada plate. It came with a salad. The girl that brought the salad almost pushed it up my nose. The salad was awful. Brown pieces and no dark green leaf lettuce. I did not eat it. They don't have any daiquiried listed or anything. Just wines, beer and margaritas. So I ordered a strawberry daiquiri anyways. It was terrible not sweet at all. My rice was non flavorful and not moist. The beans were awesome and so was the carne asada. I will not go there again. The server was nice. read more

We dined last night 9/17. We go at least once a month, primarily to order from their senior menu. It's nice to see a business looking out for their senior community. Not anymore, they did away with it! I would say at least 80% of their clients are seniors. I believe in the long run this will negatively affect their business! Let's get to the food, we order the combination Fajitas to share. Rather large order. The steak was hard and dry, chicken had almost no flavor and the shrimp were like those little frozen one's you get from the market. Ok, it sucked! Now this is an amazing restaurant in my opinion. I used to frequent this restaurant under a different name "Don Jose's" all the time in my youth. The food tasted exactly the same, so it was very nostalgic to have my "go to" cheese enchiladas. The server was very attentive and did an excellent job making sure our drinks were full and not other need went unmet. This particular location we beautiful, very clean, including the bathrooms. It had a nice sized bar with plenty of seating, as well as an outside patio to enjoy some amazing food on those amazing California nights. I didn't order any cocktails or indulge in a margarita, but I will be back and will have to try one next time, for research purposes, of course ..:) Definitely WOULD recommend, Enjoy! read more
