I love Rodney and all the staff at his studio. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I started going to Rodney 10 years ago or so. I told him that I wanted long hair but it just doesn't seem to grow. I had always been told by other stylist that your hair only gets so long. You have to cut it to keep it healthy. Rodney said you can have your hair as long as you want. He styled my hair without cutting too much off and used excellent quality products. In a short time my hair was longer than it had been since I was a child and just as healthy!!! I've been a customer of RODNEY for over 20 years since he began as a simple stylist in a salon in Harbor Center when Harbor center had just opened. I have followed him all over this city as he moved from salon to salon and from shop to shop. I even flew home to have him do my hair when I was relocated for work. But it seems that Long-term relationship, and loyalty no longer matters to RODNEY and his salon - only money. Over six months ago, I called and canceled an appointment within 48 hours of the appointment. When I tried to go back, I was pushed off onto another stylist who was not as good as RODNEY. And when I asked about appointments that I booked out in the future for Rodney they had canceled them. At the time the staff acted like they didn't know what it happened but today I found out. I had an appointment this morning but woke up very sick and called and had to cancel my appointment. I just returned home from a two month hospitalization and I've been very sick and I explain that to them. But I got a call later demanding $162 for the canceled appointment which would've been half of what I might have paid had I gone in for the service today. I was told if I didn't pay that the other two I had already made would' be canceled. So now I know what happened six months ago. But I got no phone call from them six months ago they just eliminated me off the books without my knowledge. appointments . So after 20 years, this is what it's come down too. After 20 + grateful years and this is how one is treated with and Indifference and insensitivity and a lack of empathy. But the nerve to ask me to pay money for service I didn't receive. But I had been questioning returning to the salon because the attention from RODNEY was no longer there. He wouldn't pay attention to the colors I asked for or the cuts I requested. were requesting. He would simply cut my hair the way he wanted to cut it the way he always cut it even though I was requesting change. The problem was he was always distracted talking on the phone or talking to to people hanging around and not really listening to me as this client anymore . And then to push me off on another stylist was very disappointing. He's supposed to be so busy but I've been in the salon waiting while he walks around talking to people not working on clients eating food, so the quality of the service has just gone down. But it's a hurtful way to end such a long-term relationship. And that they think they can treat clients in this manner and the clients will simply come back because they're the only good salon in Annapolis. Well, that might've been true some 10 years ago, but that is no longer true and clients have options, I have options. So I did my research and found many five star salons in Annapolis and I believe that instead of being taken for granted and dismissed, I'll get more attention and be treated as an appreciated customer. Goodbye RODNEY. Stop thinking so highly of yourself that you can charge outrageous amounts of money for substandard service these days and then dare to demand payment when someone calls in to cancel an appointment because they're ill. read more

I came in as a walk in and was set up with the stylist Connie..I showed her a picture of the color I wanted and she told me "sure we can do that!" She began to overly tangle my hair and put bleach on it as a baylage was being done. I was confused and concerned bc the picture shows a cool tone brown with a mix of baby light cool tone blonde mixed in. The color did not come outbeven after she asked the owner what toner to put on twice. Still it wasn't what I wanted. After paying 220 for the balayage and color. I went home very unhappy and had already spent 5 hours there and endured the painful process of the comb out after she did the balyage foils...I couldn't stay there for her to do anything more since she had 2 unexpected clients show up she needed to get to. EXCELLENT waxing and facials! The first time I saw Maxine, I went in for a an eyebrow wax. She noticed an angry pimple and said I'm also an esthetician and did I mind if she fixed it. Not only did my eyebrows look great, my blemish was gone! I see her for all of my waxing needs. She takes tremendous pride in her work to be sure you are satisfied. If you are coming in for a wax, the unwanted hair is gone and she ALWAYS treats your skin with care. Her facials are also wonderful! The products she treats your skin with are also available for purchase, but she will never push you or make you feel uncomfortable to buy them. Years ago when my sister lived in the area and I did not, I heard about how wonderful her hair dresser was. So when I moved to Annapolis and tracked him down, I didn't mind having to wait for an appointment because I knew I had found my stylist! He is charming and you feel like your best friend is doing your hair. His staff are all obviously like family and happy to be there and the atmosphere overall is just so pleasant. He knew what needed to be done and has impeccable judgment. BRILLIANT colorist. I got a cut/color yesterday and went back today for a Brazilian Blowout. I've already made my next appt. and I'm looking forward to rather than dreading the experience as has often been the case over the past 29 years of moving with the military. GREAT products. I went to The Rodney Law Studio for the first time this week. I was extremely impressed by this salon as soon as I walked through the door. I was immediately greeted by the receptionist and offered a drink and I was told to help myself to a table that was set up with a delicious lunch spread and cupcakes. The salon was very clean and well decorated. The owner greeted me shortly after I arrived. I chose this salon because I had recently had my haircut by Rita at another salon. She contacted me that she was switching salons and would be now working at the Rodney Laws Studio. I enjoyed my devacut by her so much that I wanted her to add some highlights. Rita is an amazing stylist that listens to her clients needs. She did a great job coloring my hair and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire experience. It's hard to find a stylist that can work my wavy hair so I am so thankful I have found Rita. While I was waiting with foils in my hair Rodney brought me chocolate. I also was offered to have my glass refilled multiple times. I was blown away by the hospitality of this salon and will be recommending it to all my friends. My experience at Rodney's hair studio was terriffying. I read Dawn's profile and I liked what I saw. Dawn might love her job, but she is terrible at it. She had trouble with the coloring process, the highlights are done in sloppy and careless. Dawn did no consultation, nor did she really care how I wanted my hair cut. The cut I received has no symmetry, when I asked her to fix her shortcomings,she had no idea how. Rodney, the owner, had to step in and give her advice about the color and then stepped in a sexond time to fix it the cut, unsucsesfuly at that. I hate it. I am glad Rodney was in ,I could not even imagine how I would look after Dawn was done with my hair. I will not be returning and I advise anyone with a care in their appearance to stay far, far away. read more

I absolutely love the way that Rodney does my hair! Last Fall, I called him to see if he could fit me in and he did! I was out in like 1 hour! He knows how to work a fluffy brush too! You will not bake under a hot hair dryer at his studio. He is so knowledgeable, friendly, down-to-earth and just plain awesome! I made the mistake of switching from Rodney Laws to a D.C. salon a couple years ago because I got sucked into the "magic" of DEVA curl hair cutting, which is a special technique for cutting curly hair. It creates a great look for non-ethnic curly hair, but for short, ethnic curly hair, it's limiting, plus the D.C. salon did not do keratin treatments. But my really big mistake was after deciding to stop driving 1 hr. and 20 min. to D.C. for a DEVA cut, last month I went to a "salon" (the stylist's basement in her home) in Baltimore to try a stylist who supposedly knew how to cut curly hair. Wrong! Even though she had curly hair, which added to my false sense of security, she took a razor to my ethnic curls!! Anyone who knows anything about cutting curly hair, especially ethnic curls, knows you never use a razor. So when I saw a Living Social coupon for a keratin treatment at Rodney Laws Studio, I jumped on it! Rodney was booked for the week and I was desperate to get my hair fixed. So I booked an appt. with Dawn. First off, their new location is fabulous - light and airy, with a feel of a chic, urban salon but without the pretense often found in those salons. When I walked through the door, it was like coming home and I knew all would be well. Every staff member made me feel welcomed. I was offered coffee and water. Chatter and laughter filled the atmosphere. Dawn sat me in her chair to talk about what I was looking to achieve; then she asked Rodney to come look at my hair and give suggestions, since he knew my hair. He completely understands curly hair - all curly hair, not just "white" curly hair - and he makes sure all his stylists do, too. He offered to upgrade the keratin treatment to the next level, also at a discounted price, which was more suitable for the texture and coarseness of my hair. I trust him immensely, so I went with the upgrade. As anyone knows who's had a keratin treatment, it is a long process: applying the keratin, letting it sit, blow drying and flat ironing the hair. When it came time to trim my hair, Rodney did it. So I had this fabulous 3 hr. experience that included two great stylists: Dawn and Rodney! I highly recommend Rodney Laws Studio, especially if you have curly hair, ethnic or non-ethnic, Rodney and his staff understand curly hair. You won't be disappointed! read more
