Within the past 4 years we have gone to Rodeo, perhaps 6 times and Each time the host or hostess was dismissive and rude. Our last visit, the waitress was almost as dismissive as the host. Our entrees were served the same time as the appetizer. My order was acceptable, however my husbands ordered was a taco and enchilada combo, which was bland and tasteless. This was my first time at Rodeo and I was a bit hesitant as I had heard mixed reviews, but was pleasantly surprised at how excellent the service was and the quality of the food. I ordered the adobe chicken which was excellent, the cheese sauce was very light and the veggies and chicken were cooked perfectly. Prices were lower than anticipated and the daily specials were great (half priced like margarita pitchers on Tuesday!). We went in a group of 6 and everyone agreed their meal was excellent. We stopped on Sunday as we had not been here for a couple months. We both had the special of the day which was a taco salad. My husband had the chicken and I had one without meat, but with rice and beans. They have never complained that I order something different than what they offer on the menu. I don't like a lot of meat and if I ask them to sub rice and beans for the meat, they do so willingly. Where else can you go for lunch on Sunday and both eat for $10? And have it be very good too? They have redecorated since the last time we were here. They have all new booths and new deco. It feels so much cleaner. Not that it wasn't fairly clean before, but the new booths are very nice as some of the old booths were starting to show their age. When I am very hungry, I love their Polo con crema. The staff is simply great. All of them are friendly, and pay attention to what you need. Chips just leap out of the kitchen to your table as needed, and the individual salsa bowls are a great touch if you like to get as much salsa on your chip as you can, even if it means doing the unforgivable double dip. They have both drink and dinner specials every night of the week--my favorite being $1 margarita Tuesdays. They are usually very crowded on Friday nights and Sundays with the after-church folks. The sides of rice, beans, salad, guacamole and sour cream are meant for only three servings... so once you finish this, you are charged if you need more. This food so far is not authentic Mexican! The Guacamole tastes like they squeeze it from a tube you buy at Walmart... not homemade or fresh!
