I got 4 or 5 quotes for exterior painting of my house in April of 2022. I selected the Apex…read moreSolutions quote and gave Brian, owner of Apex, a $3200 (50% of quote) deposit check in early May of 2022. I was about 3rd or 4th in line to be painted. Well, May turned into June, and June into July. In July I was even told by Brian to send him our colors, and I did. I did that and later found out his Foreman had to leave town for personal reasons, and that Apex had been awarded a contract at Eielson AFB, in Fairbanks, to paint military housing. So, July turned into August, and it had started raining in mid-July and rained all the way through August. I never received any communication from Brian, and winter arrived. I gave Brian a deposit check on May 6th, and I was 3rd or 4th in line, and never got painted in 2022. So, I guess personnel problems and winning a big military contract just pushed little ole me off the schedule into 2023, and of course the rain in July and August played a part. I was willing to live with getting jerked around, as long as I get painted early in 2023. In March of 2023, I contact Brian, because he had not communicated with me. He informed me that I was number 3 on the list. I said great, let me know when in April or May you will be starting back up, and when I can expect you. He contacted me a few days later saying he needs to meet up with me to get a deposit from me. I explained that I gave him a check on May 6, 2022. He said that he must have LOST it. He looked some more for the check, but no luck. I was not happy about this, but then he told me he needs to come by my house and take a look at it again to update the estimate. He texted me that paint and labor had increased 35% since May of 2022. I agreed to let him look at the house again. While I was waiting for the updated estimate, I went by the Sherwin Williams paint location where most painting contractors get their paint (they were familiar with Apex), and they informed me that they had only one price increase since May of 2022, and that was a 12% increase on paint and supplies on September 6, 2023. Not quite a 35% increase, and I'm betting he did not give his staff a 35% increase in pay. I received the "updated" estimate a few days later, my estimate had gone up $600. So, because I got jerked around back in May, June, and July of 2022, and because this contractor cannot schedule his business properly, I get to pay an additional $600 to get my house painted. I stopped payment on the check and fired this painter. Sorry I was so long winded on this. Thought people should know how Apex Solutions does business.
