Room was cozy but very small. Very noisy, you hear and feel when people walk in the hallway or take shower. The temp outside was in the 80's and the window air conditioner provided barely adequate cooling. The gaps around it were sealed with tape; I'd hate to stay there when its cold outside. Difficult to set the shower temperature. Bed and linens comfortable. The grounds are pretty and well landscaped. The property sits right on the water with beautiful views. There are several common areas that offer cozy couches with coffee tables. The adjacent restaurant is not cheap but their food was delicious - my halibut was perfectly cooked with lots of finesse. Their lobster bake was rich, creamy, tasty and came with toasted pesto pita slices - it was worth the $18. Breakfast is included and was good. Cereal, bagels, yoghurt, juice, sausage and eggs toast, muffins etc. Short on fresh fruit though. Coffee was very good. Staff was friendly and service minded. We checked in late and were hungry and the front desk clerk found us some muffins. So...if you bring earplugs for sleeping you should be OK.

They have combined the welcoming informal atmosphere of a cottage with the elegance and charm of a resort. What is your pleasure? You will find it here: golf down the road, fresh mussels and lobster, relax around the outside fire pit, take a hike or bike ride. The best part is that you are minutes away from Charlottetown AND the best beaches in Canada. If you are searching for one location - home base if you will - while visiting PEI - look no further. Great for kids, great for couples and great for weddings and corporate meetings. Loving it. Oh, look, the sun is coming out...another beautiful day - off to golf now!!

Once we were settled we inquired about dining options and he marked them on a map of the area. In the morning the manager, Rod, was able to help us narrow down some places we could visit during our stay in Charlottetown and on our last morning he suggested a route for us to take getting to Cape Breton. He even told us to call the hotel if we had any issues in finding our way there. Our room was located on the top floor, same side as the front of the hotel. It was a decently sized room with a desk, tv, armchair and closet. The bathroom was a decent size but the shower stall was quite small and the water took a long time to warm up. Our on last morning we let the manager know that we enjoyed our stay but that the mattress was way too soft for our liking and he let us know that he's heard the same comment from other guests and that the mattress is actually new. In our section of the hotel there were a few rooms with a (small) common kitchen, dining table and a sitting area. Within the whole hotel there were a few common sitting areas both indoor and outdoors. By the front entrance there were coffee and ice machines along with filtered water. Breakfast was served in two dining rooms. There was all the makings of a continental breakfast (toast, juice, coffee, tea, yogurt, cereal) and servers would come by periodically to take orders from their menu and remove plates. There was a selection of six items to choose from and most came with locally grown potatoes (omelette, scrambled eggs or tofu, eggs benedict, oatmeal, waffles). Portions aren't big but if it's not enough then it's easy to grab some toast or yogurt to go along with it.

Our room was so big, had a kitchenette and a balcony. The bathroom worked great, the shower pressure was wonderful and the whole facility was clean, quaint and just beautiful! Some of the staff is a little novice, but their can-do-attitude more than makes up for their lack of experience. Rooms were very clean and spacious. I loved the deep bathtubs for a soak. Continental breakfast was nice, though eating in the common-room was a little challenging. Coffee available 24 hours a day was great, fresh cookies in the afternoon/evening is a nice touch. The hotel is located directly across from the Basilica, a half-block from Victoria-row (for shopping and food), so very convenient, and tons of character (compared to a chain-hotel). They offer free parking, though it is limited (so park early to ensure you get a spot!). Free wifi too! If I come back to Charlottetown, I would definitely stay here again.

Check-in service was superb and we were greeted with a mini tour of the inn and given a map with popular spots around the city. There was also a fresh batch blueberry muffins waiting for us that were to die for! The room we got was good and a bit dated, but given that we were only there to sleep it did it's job! Breakfast the next morning was a lovely plated meal with a yogurt parfait, quiche, and fresh fruit. We didn't know what quite to expect when booking here, but wished we added another day to our stay. Maybe next time!

My wife quickly reviewed some bed and breakfasts in Prince Edward Island and managed to find the very accommodating Colonial Charm Inn. We were to leave Sunday morning, but were still undecided Friday night. Colonial Charm Inn agreed to hold our room until noon the next day when we would know better whether we could go. Luckily, we were able, and that was the beginning of a very memorable and pleasant 3-day stay at Colonial Charm Inn. At the moment of arriving, we were greeted by Jeff, who immediately made us feel at home. He was very friendly and helpful with any requests or advice that we needed during our stay. The Inn is an older home adorned with antiques, prints, and even a suit of armour or two! The decorating may not appeal to everyone, but we like the historic atmosphere. There was parking in the front or rear of the building. And because, we had expensive bicycles on the rack of our car, they allowed us to store them inside, so we need not strap and lock them on the car every night. Very convenient and safe. We were booked in The Charles Henry Foster Room. An en suite and balcony! The room was perfect. The antique 4-poster bed may not be the perfect comfort for some, but we were fine with it. Let's face it, it's not a high-end hotel. It's the high-end hospitality and charm that was worth every penny. The following morning we met Shelly, Melanie, Hannah, Reg ... and the friendliness and special attention continued. Everyone was very cordial and relaxed. They prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning during our stay. All very fresh and homemade. During our cycling excursions, sight-seeing, and dining out experiences, Reg and Shelly were equipped us with all the maps, brochures, as well as, great advice and recommendations. They could not have made it any easier for us, especially our 25th anniversary dinner arranged and booked for us at The Delta. That was one of (maybe the top two!) culinary experiences we had in our well-travelled lives. (Maybe another review for them) Thank you everyone at Colonial Charm Inn! We can not thank you enough.
