4.5 stars I'm really…read moreglad that we chose this hotel out of all the ones I found online. Jacob helped us check-in and even assisted with taking one of our suitcases up to our room. Once we were settled we inquired about dining options and he marked them on a map of the area. In the morning the manager, Rod, was able to help us narrow down some places we could visit during our stay in Charlottetown and on our last morning he suggested a route for us to take getting to Cape Breton. He even told us to call the hotel if we had any issues in finding our way there. Our room was located on the top floor, same side as the front of the hotel. It was a decently sized room with a desk, tv, armchair and closet. The bathroom was a decent size but the shower stall was quite small and the water took a long time to warm up. Our on last morning we let the manager know that we enjoyed our stay but that the mattress was way too soft for our liking and he let us know that he's heard the same comment from other guests and that the mattress is actually new. In our section of the hotel there were a few rooms with a (small) common kitchen, dining table and a sitting area. Within the whole hotel there were a few common sitting areas both indoor and outdoors. By the front entrance there were coffee and ice machines along with filtered water. Breakfast was served in two dining rooms. There was all the makings of a continental breakfast (toast, juice, coffee, tea, yogurt, cereal) and servers would come by periodically to take orders from their menu and remove plates. There was a selection of six items to choose from and most came with locally grown potatoes (omelette, scrambled eggs or tofu, eggs benedict, oatmeal, waffles). Portions aren't big but if it's not enough then it's easy to grab some toast or yogurt to go along with it.

The bathroom worked great, the shower pressure was wonderful and the whole facility was clean, quaint and just beautiful! Breakfast that was served was hearty and generous and the location can't be beat! This is in the heart of Charlottetown!

A lot of TLC is needed at this Inn. Our room, The Library Room, was very tired and worn. The…read morewallpaper seams were pealing and there were sections that were not adhering to the wall. For the price we paid, we expected much better conditions. Upkeep in general has been neglected. I can not recommend a stay here.

Even before we arrived owners Jay & Carol made us welcome. Their confirmation came with a list of…read morerestaurants along with an offer to help with reservations for dinner, a visit from a masseuse, and more. I've avoided B&B places for a while now, but this inn's Cunard Suite brought me back. The whole house remains tastefully decorated in period Victorian (but not overdone), but the Cunard's bathroom (with Jacuzz tub) is modern. The suite includes a small kitchenette and a fridge stocked with cold soft drinks. PEI is usually cool, but we used the room A/C on our visit. Breakfast was delicious - raisin French toast with freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh fruit one day, scrambled eggs with homemade biscuits the next. Chives and chive oil from Jay's garden, and Carol's homemade strawberry preserves were perfect too. Some tables for two give privacy. Assisting with our laundry was a huge bonus. You can walk downtown in about 20 minutes, or drive in 5. Carol will go over a driving plan for island trips, telling you hidden gems. The loan of a parks pass gets you into the provincial parks by the shore. I'm glad to get them onto Yelp. They've been in business for 20+ years and deserve continued success. A really great intro to the Island.

I'd give ZERO stars if I had the choice. The 'customer service' was the absolute WORST I've ever…read morereceived. We booked our 400$ room for one night. We were told our check in would be between the hours of 2-6 but when we arrived at 2pm, we were greeted with a handwritten note saying 'EMERGENCY!!!!!! Will return at 4:30pm!!' Our afternoon plans were pretty much spoiled due to this. When we finally were able to check in, the woman in charge tried to completely brush past the check in fiasco by flippantly mentioning a "quick errand" and became short and quite rude when we pointed out the unprofessionalism of her timings, saying "no one EVER checks in that early!!!!" ........ as if WE were at fault for showing up on time. She was short with us, pointing out "you're obviously annoyed" at me because while she was showing us around, I was quiet. How uncomfortable. Who does that?? . We pointed out the ridiculousness of the situation but she would not back down. Fine. We had paid for the room so we were stuck with it- might as well enjoy Charlottetown. And we did, until we returned to our room. Personal items had been taken from our room and when I called down to the front desk, the 'innkeeper' was extremely aggressive- immediately threatening to call the police! I obviously called them myself and filed a report (my 20+ year military husband and I aren't exactly known for lying or or causing trouble so I wasn't concerned). The constable mentioned right away that no other call had been received about the incident so it just goes to show the innkeeper was full of it and we had clearly called her bluff. I would absolutely *******NOT RECOMMEND****** this sham of a bed and breakfast. I sincerely hope the innkeeper sees this review and feels ENDLESS SHAME for the GODAWFUL experience she provided us with..... SHAME ON YOU, FITZROY HALL.
