There was also a fresh batch blueberry muffins waiting for us that were to die for! The room we got was good and a bit dated, but given that we were only there to sleep it did it's job! Breakfast the next morning was a lovely plated meal with a yogurt parfait, quiche, and fresh fruit. We didn't know what quite to expect when booking here, but wished we added another day to our stay. My wife quickly reviewed some bed and breakfasts in Prince Edward Island and managed to find the very accommodating Colonial Charm Inn. We were to leave Sunday morning, but were still undecided Friday night. Colonial Charm Inn agreed to hold our room until noon the next day when we would know better whether we could go. Luckily, we were able, and that was the beginning of a very memorable and pleasant 3-day stay at Colonial Charm Inn. At the moment of arriving, we were greeted by Jeff, who immediately made us feel at home. He was very friendly and helpful with any requests or advice that we needed during our stay. The Inn is an older home adorned with antiques, prints, and even a suit of armour or two! The decorating may not appeal to everyone, but we like the historic atmosphere. There was parking in the front or rear of the building. And because, we had expensive bicycles on the rack of our car, they allowed us to store them inside, so we need not strap and lock them on the car every night. Very convenient and safe. We were booked in The Charles Henry Foster Room. An en suite and balcony! The room was perfect. The antique 4-poster bed may not be the perfect comfort for some, but we were fine with it. Let's face it, it's not a high-end hotel. It's the high-end hospitality and charm that was worth every penny. The following morning we met Shelly, Melanie, Hannah, Reg ... and the friendliness and special attention continued. Everyone was very cordial and relaxed. They prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning during our stay. All very fresh and homemade. During our cycling excursions, sight-seeing, and dining out experiences, Reg and Shelly were equipped us with all the maps, brochures, as well as, great advice and recommendations. They could not have made it any easier for us, especially our 25th anniversary dinner arranged and booked for us at The Delta. That was one of (maybe the top two!) culinary experiences we had in our well-travelled lives. (Maybe another review for them) Thank you everyone at Colonial Charm Inn! We can not thank you enough.

It was a true home away from home with a private entrance, kitchen (with stove, microwave, fridge, washer/dryer and all of the fixings) and living room. They gave us a couple of bags of chips and coffee as well. The apartment also included an assortment of games and beach towels we could use. I love that they are as eco-friendly as possible, with marked containers for recycling, housekeeping every 3 days, and refillable soap containers. The location is a short walk from all of the restaurants, shops and water front. I would love to come back and stay here again!

They built a outdoor patio area which was prefect to relax and enjoy the sun before heading out to dinner. Our room was the Jacque Cartier room. Super comfortable queen size bed and linens. The bathroom has a shower claw foot tub. Dee and Chris are great innkeepers. The food here is delicious as well, with breakfast included with our stay. Selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, inn-baked scones, and two hot breakfast options. There also make French pressed coffee, which if you been around PEI, you know there are extremely limited good coffee options. Definitely staying on all our PEI visits.

Charlottetown isn't big enough for all of the major chains to take notice so I took a chance with the Tailor Shop. I was glad that I did. While the rooms are small by modern standards, they are more than modern inside. Flat screen TV, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and air conditioning are all present. No fancy WiFi login pages, just a password that covers all devices and it is super fast. It's very informal inside. The hotel is within walking distance of everything downtown. I would absolutely stay here any time I am in Charlottetown.

She was short with us, pointing out "you're obviously annoyed" at me because while she was showing us around, I was quiet. How uncomfortable. Who does that?? . We pointed out the ridiculousness of the situation but she would not back down. Fine. We had paid for the room so we were stuck with it- might as well enjoy Charlottetown. And we did, until we returned to our room. Personal items had been taken from our room and when I called down to the front desk, the 'innkeeper' was extremely aggressive- immediately threatening to call the police! I obviously called them myself and filed a report (my 20+ year military husband and I aren't exactly known for lying or or causing trouble so I wasn't concerned). The constable mentioned right away that no other call had been received about the incident so it just goes to show the innkeeper was full of it and we had clearly called her bluff. I would absolutely *******NOT RECOMMEND****** this sham of a bed and breakfast. Our room was fairly large and they put a cot in as requested for our son. The lobby area had fresh popcorn in the evenings and on Canada day they had cake and macaroons as well (no charge). Our room had a window overlooking the water and Queen Street....perfect for watching the fireworks from the warm indoors. The internet wasn't working well and the tv was not connecting to Netflix or other channels. The service guy tried to fix it but could not. The housekeeping was inconsistent. One day they didn't tidy the washroom or leave more toiletries...just rolled the towels. I wish I knew there was coin operated laundry machines as I would have packed half the clothes. Great location on the water with lots of restaurants and the Confederation centre within walking distance.
