Warning: Exploitative, Unethical Practices and No Accountability Avoid this agency at all costs. As an experienced professional with a master's degree, I was subjected to the most exploitative, dehumanizing, and financially damaging nightmare of my career. This agency prioritizes commissions over the dignity and security of the candidates they claim to represent. If they could create such a disastrous placement for me, then they can do this to entry-level candidates with far less protection. The recruiter, Charitha, paired me with a CEO who had already terminated and disparaged a prior candidate. Instead of vetting this client with basic professional judgment, she aligned herself with him, using high-pressure tactics to secure a spontaneous commitment from me over the phone. Charitha even pressured me for a 5-star review before my contract began, which explains their inflated 4.8 star rating. This manufactured feedback scam prioritizes fake optics over actual results. The narcopath CEO demanded "loyalty" and long-term commitment, while using me as a temporary placeholder as he secured the return of a former employee. Based on this fraudulent inducement, I turned down a serious opportunity with an IP firm. The CEO--who neglected onboarding, refused to introduce me to staff, and left me idling--then terminated my contract within the first week. He admitted that he "lacked the operational structure and resources to onboard a new hire." He delivered the termination with a disturbing smile, calling it "exciting news" for him. Contemptuous and Condescending Culture This agency uses the most condescending, aggressively micromanaging, and infantilizing language I have ever seen. They treat experienced professionals like unruly high school interns with no common sense. Most embarrassing is their "Leaving the Nest" podcast that they encourage you to listen to on the way to interviews. During my placement, I was subjected to illegal and unethical behaviors: Illegal inquiries: The CEO explicitly asked my age, while acknowledging that doing so was "inappropriate and illegal." His demeanor became hostile after learning that I was older than he expected. Data and privacy breaches: I was given access to prior employee emails without any security protocols. I was expected to operate under the full name of the employee who was coming back to replace me, whose signature was never removed. The full name of the employee who had been terminated before me--whom this CEO repeatedly disparaged, including outlining the reasons for their termination--was also available to me. I have never seen such egregious data privacy and confidentiality violations, and I am confident that my own information is now similarly exposed in their system. Unprofessionalism and disrespect: The CEO used derogatory language (including the b-word) during the interview and refused to reimburse agreed-upon parking expenses at termination: another petty power move layered on top of the discard. ROCS's Response -- Deflection and Zero Accountability: When I reported these serious concerns, ROCS abandoned me. They immediately shifted into corporate deflection mode to protect their liability, offering no condemnation of the employer's actions and no remedy for the situation. Charitha offered zero apology, and repeatedly tried to avoid a written record by pushing me for a phone call. The agency refused to pay me for weeks following my termination. Tom Moore, their co-founder, offered basic parking reimbursement and a perfunctory "sorry to hear about your job; that's unfortunate how that ended." Bottom Line ROCS is a bloodless, transactional agency that treats professionals as disposable assets. There is a reason they target young professionals and recent grads: no mid-level or experienced professionals would tolerate this level of malpractice, contempt for candidates, and complete absence of accountability. I went through multiple interviews with ROCS. After being told I was a "great fit," I heard nothing -- just crickets. Then I got blocked on LinkedIn for following up. Classy. If you're expecting mutual respect and transparency, don't. They ghost faster than a bad Tinder date. ROCS Staffing gives big "we care" energy online -- until you ask for feedback or clarity. Then they go silent, or block you. Shoutout to Tom Moore and Sage for redefining what "gatekeeping" means in staffing. Not sure how they win awards -- must be participation trophies. Their recruiters talk a big game about professionalism and strong communication, but don't expect the same in return. Interviews seem more like a numbers game than actual placements. I got blocked for politely following up. That pretty much sums it up. I've never met a staffing agency so defensive. One of my friends got blocked on LinkedIn after asking a recruiter why they were rejected. No real answers, just ego and attitude. If you criticize their process or ask questions, you're done. Very odd energy. Interviewed, ghosted, blocked. ROCS expects top-tier communication and professionalism from candidates, but they don't even offer basic follow-up. Sage and Tom Moore have perfected the art of fake courtesy and quiet rejection. Don't waste your time. You'd think a modern staffing firm would prioritize inclusivity and fair access. Not ROCS. My friend was rejected with no explanation, then blocked after asking for feedback. The culture seems white-washed, cold, and corporate to the bone. The awards don't match the reality. So I will never use them again and if anything I want them to stay away from me. I feel pretty terrible after the whole experience. I had tried to use them like 4 years ago and it was not a good experience but I thought this time would be better and since I had better work experience and is almost done with my college degree. I applied for a job and a newer recruiter called me and in the beginning everything was fine. They even checked on me to make sure what happened last time I was with them wouldn't happen again or if I was comfortable with working with them again so I appreciated that. But then red flags came up. The first was the credit check they gave me. Nothing that I was doing on the contract that I was gonna be on required a credit check. My background is in finance and government contracting and they didn't even require a credit check and if they did it would make sense and if they did do a credit check obviously it went fine. According to the person who interviewed me (my future manager) and the job description that was sent over to me by my recruiter what I would specifically be doing in the company would not require one. I did consent to it but once I thought things over it seemed like an invasion of my privacy. I was asked if there were any concerns with my credit check that should be aware of and I said my student loans and credit cards because those seemed valid to a company that I would think would be acceptable to be concerned about. I had one thing on there that was they were concerned about. not even big bill it was a medical bill due to a chronic illnesses I have. They cared more about how I will start paying it than why it was on there or even being understanding. A contract that was not even temp to hire and only 4 months and for a job that I did not have to have a credit check for. I was told that they give all employees and contractors credit checks. Why would you give someone a credit check if their job does not require it and how the credit check went it seemed more like they made stuff personal and nit picky than ethical and professional. The person who interviewed me was late for my interview not very late but I often wondered if I was late would she or even ROCS would understand. She told me in the interview that contractors have to be in office 5 days a weeks but regular employees can work from home 3 days of the week. I think that is unfair and shows the divide they have between the contractors and employees of that company's it's not even working from home it's the principle behind it. The last thing it took 3 weeks for my everything to come back and for Me to get a start day, background, drug test, credit check for a basic customer service position. There was more to that I'm not stupid and it did not make me feel good. Plus my recruiter had told me one week my background and credit check had came back and then the next week she said they had issues verifying my education. What are you talking about so either she lied to me or does not know how a background check works or as I said there is more to it and she just didn't know how to hide it from me. I told Rocs to leave me alone and never contact me again. I think what they do helping college grads or almost college grads find jobs is Noble and a smart concept and idea but I think at the end of the day they think more about themselves and the clients they work for and not the people they are getting to work these jobs which makes no sense. I applied for a job on indeed.com that was apparently through Rocs (The ad did not state this at all.) I graduated college several years ago so I am a bit miffed as to why they would take me on? I am not bothered by people politely declining because I am not the target demographic. I got a get to know what you are looking for interview. That is fine. But then, later on, another recruiter was taking me on and she wanted a video interview. The problem is, during the said 'interview' she pretty much said she did not want to waste my time, and just verify everything I had told the other recruiters. Why the hell did you literally waste my time preparing for an actual video interview when you could have just called me or emailed me? I was very annoyed and angry. Please do not waste people's time. Getting ready for a video interview takes time, phone calls and emails are much less stressful and a better method of communicating for verifying a few things. I really do not like this place. I sincerely wish I could give this place a better review, but I don't want anyone suffering the same problem as I have. My recruiter, Pete, seemed more like a terrifyingly high pressure salesman who got easily upset for every little thing. And I mean EVERY little thing. This guy cared more about making a sale than anything else. I mean he was forcing these immensely low-paying, almost odd-jobs down my throat so bad, I simply couldn't say "no" to him without getting an earful of rude, snarky, and pressuring comments such as "I really don't understand what you mean, why aren't you taking this job?" He drove me insane, and I honestly felt relieved when he finally hung up the phone. The companies ROCS clients out to aren't NEARLY as "high profile" as he makes it seem, not by a long shot. Any roles that actually interested me, fit my skill set, and relevant to what I wanted and could do would either be somehow out of my qualifications, taken care of elsewhere, or "not the right role for me". What? I'm surprised as to where these 5-star reviews are coming from. I wish I had that experience, but sadly, me and anyone I know will keep Pete and this company far away. I hope this company finds success and I wish it the best, but I think it's important to share my criticism so the company, and my recruiter, can learn and grow from its mistakes. I want to share my disdain for this company, if you can even call it a company. I have tried more than FOUR times with them! they never returned my phone calls, and in the comments they stated "we tried calling you" when they never did. They do NOT want to help you! They either pick and choose on whom they help just to keep ratings. Just cause I wrote a bad review exposing how fraudulent of a company they are, they are reluctant to help me. I didn't show up to a "formal" first interview to talk about my resume because my dad ended up being admitted to the hospital and later that week passed away. This was in November 2018!!! If you look closely at the reviews on google, as well as those on this very site, you'll see that every single positive review has a very specific wording to it. This is because (I speculate) ROCS requires that people who accept their job offers to write a glowingly positive, 5 star (must be 5 stars) review, or else the job offer is rescinded. Obviously, those who are desperate for a job will write a great review if it means they'll get employed, but those positive reviews do not reflect AT ALL what you will experience with this company. They are lazy, slow to respond, and generally give a vibe of arrogant indifference to their clients; in the 4 months I job searched with ROCS, I had two jobs found for me and one interview. Only the job I interviewed for had anything remotely to do with my resume or skill set. Do not work with this company. They are focused on processing you through their system and securing a commission check for themselves as fast as possible, nothing more than that. They don't care about you, and they will happily put you in a toxic work environment, with horrible hours and low pay, if it means they get paid. I am editing my review because I don't want to be accused of giving a fake review. I don't understand the good reviews and lack of bad ones, because I can't believe no one shares my experience. I was offered the chance to apply for a specific job after meeting with ROCS during an in-person interview, which followed a phone screening with a specific recruiter. I took time off of my hourly job for both of these, and traveled to their location with plenty of time to spare in anticipation of any traffic so I would not be subjected to their "1 minute rule" as it was stated on the email sent to me. The advertised job that I initially applied for, and what I was offered was bait and switch. I did wind up applying after being told I would be a good fit, because I need a salaried job. However, It's been over a month since the process began and trying to get any response from ROCS has been like pulling teeth. I have emailed multiple times and even called. Everyone there seems nice, yet they left me hanging and refuse to follow up. A simple "the job isn't available" or "we were told they might take more time to review applicants" would suffice. I have checked the website and the job I applied for is now gone, so clearly there must be some sort of update they can give me? Ignoring my emails is just plain rude and unprofessional. Job hunting is stressful enough and these recruiters have proven themselves to me that they don't stand out from the other agencies that people often complain about doing the same exact thing. I previously posted a review for ROCS but deleted it only because they literally called me about 15 minutes after I posted it and wanted to know why I posted a negative review, so I took it down because at the time, ROCS was the best shot I had at getting a job. I will not be deleting this post this time. I do not mean to be rude, but truly think it's important to share my experience and hopefully save others time from having to deal with the same kind of nonsense. I have tried using ROCS for the past few months to try and find a job post graduation and honestly I really can't find a positive experience to share. It's upsetting because a lot of the reviews online are really positive. I don't know if it's the whole company or just the person assigned to me, but Kyle was not helpful. I've sent him multiple job openings in the past month and pretty much everything I send him he told me that I am not a good fit for or unqualified for the job. I need to make note that a lot of these jobs I'm talking about have been receptionist type jobs that pay average no more than $13/hr. I am more than qualified to work a job that pays $11-13/hr and I have a college degree. Honestly it never seemed like Kyle cared much about what I was interested in and didn't really ever send me job postings. I have sent him multiple job openings I saw and they lead to dead ends or sometimes he'd flat out tell me no. After I posted the negative review, I emailed Kyle asking to be removed from their services and explained how I felt and did not wish to use ROCS anymore. I worked with Rocs from May 2017-January 2018. Kathleen was my recruiter, and she put me in touch a great company, which I came to absolutely love. Rocs was great with setting standards for me before stepping into the interview process for the position I applied for. Kathleen even updated me in the early months with tons of feedback. I found out I was pregnant in June, and both companies were really great with working with me. The office I was at threw me a baby shower, and Rocs surprised me with a cake too! I've never known a recruiter to do that! I would still be working if it weren't for my pregnancy complications. When I'm ready to come back to the workforce, I know Rocs will be an option! Ok, so after applying I received a phone call this call was more like a screening call where I was supposed to answer questions given by the person on the other line. All went well, but what is next? I am still waiting to hear back after 2 months. Mind you the girl talking to me had such a low voice that I could not even hear here. Finding the job that fit me best took some time, but after 5-6 months, I was able to find a job aligned to what I've been searching for. Kyle was extremely helpful and kept me well informed during the whole process. The only thing I don't like is that he guaranteed and promised me that I would be hired on permanently within 3 months-- which is not true. I found ROCS through a banner-ad on a resume creation website. I submitted my application and forgot about it; roughly a month later I received a call asking me to come in for an interview. I met with Kyle, who did a great job interviewing me on a technical and social level, and within less than a week from that initial interview I was called in for another interview at a DC company and offered to start working the next day. I personally had a great experience with ROCS, I like all the people I met there and my hiring process was shockingly fast after they met me. What I dislike about ROCS is that, at least in my experience, they can be unresponsive at times. What I mean by this is that I've been submitting time-sheets to them for two weeks and I haven't heard any kind of confirmation or indication that they're receiving anything from me. I've emailed them specific questions multiple different times only to receive unrelated responses (if they respond at all) that seemed directly copy/pasted from templates. That being said, these issues have only been over online communications and I've had no trouble getting direct, clear responses when calling in. For job-seekers looking into ROCS for hiring: I'd recommend it, but know what you're getting into. While Initially I was incredibly excited about the opportunity, I am so upset that no less than 30 minutes after a phone interview, A rep called my current place of work to introduce their services. This could have cost me my job. I work in a very small office. When I emailed my recruiter about the situation, she said the two weren't related, which seems very improbable given they have never called our office before giving them my information. I see a lot of negative reviews here and I strongly feel like they come from those who didn't really know what they were getting into. So if you're curious about this organization and what they do, definitely take a look at their website. They did offer me positions with a lot of experience potential, the downside was the pay. It was made clear that the pay could increase with time but it wasn't guaranteed so I have to make the decision of whether I'll be patient and take a risk with time or decide to accept other offers elsewhere. It comes down to you and what your standards are, there really is no pressure here. I am giving this place 1 star because they called our office today doing a cold call. I can tell the caller was young and unprofessional. I immediately read the reviews and I can tell when these reviews are legitimate and when they are not. I wish these people stop treating the people who read these reviews like we are stupid. I am a very seasoned Admin. Professional that has lived and worked in the Washington area all my life. I worked a lot with Staffing Companies and they are all pretty much the same. My organization stopped using them. Please stop telling your clients to give a review on yelp. Let people give a review on their own. If you are a legitimate service that treats everyone with dignity, respect and fair, people will give you the rating you really deserve even if you are unable to help them. Here, I am more inclined to believe the reviews that's less than 3 stars because these reviews appear more realistic; and here again, I can always tell the ones that are not really true. These staffing companies need to be real with people and stop playing with people's lives. When a potential employee is solidifying your services, they are looking for work to provide for their families and their welfare. Stop playing with people's lives and wasting people's time. If you are not going to help them or can't help them, just let them know upfront. (Say What it is and stop telling people what they want to hear to tell them what they need to know). read more

ROCS has been helpful for me after I graduated from GMU. I've been struggling to find a job in the tech field, since I didn't have tech experience or a tech degree! I worked internally at ROCS for over a year and really enjoyed my time there. The two co-founders are great people - they truly care about their employees and have spent a lot of time creating a work environment that makes the employees look forward to coming in to work. They're very understanding and approachable bosses, always willing to answer a question or listen to your concerns. The recruiters are very invested in their work and do whatever they can to help candidates find the perfect job. I've seen countless recent grads find their dream job through ROCS' help.
