NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE FROM DENVER TO DALLAS This was, hands down, the worst moving experience of my life -- and I've relocated across continents. If I could give zero stars, I would. From the start, overpromised and underdelivered. The actual cost was double what their initial quote was and off-course they tell you only after everything have been loaded so you have no option but to pay., On the delivery the cost was again different and no choice but to pay or they would not unload your furniture. When the truck finally arrived, several items were damaged -- including an expensive art piece and a motorcycle. They tried to brush it off with, "You should file a claim," as if that undoes the carelessness and total lack of respect for my belongings. Of course, the insurance company they recommended didn't pay anything with the argument that I have missed the five day window to put a claim. The crew in Dallas was unprofessional and visibly careless with un-loading. It appeared to me that the people they hired were just local hires they picked for the day. I expected stress -- it's a move -- but I didn't expect deception, delays, and destruction. Save yourself the time, the damage, and the drama. There are plenty of honest, competent movers out there. This company is not one of them. read more

They came late and I stated that I had a family emergency and could we hurry. One employee was a jerk and immediately became aggressive. He argued with my friend that was helping me and when I said that he was lippy with customers he went nuts. I had to call and get a replacement for the third guy that I hired and they swapped him out. I finally started to unpack some items as I have been dealing with the family emergency and notice sugar is all over my electronics. They also damaged a wall trim. During the move they dropped items several times. I'm sure as I slowly unpack I'll find more. read more

Review: Fourteen years ago I used Rocky Mountain to move homes and they sent 3 literal football players who were big, strong, fast and respectful. So I used their services again... this time they sent me 2 old guys smaller than myself and a third guy who spent most of the time wandering around both houses, opening doors & drawers looking for anything to steal. It was like babysitting a stray dog for 7 hours. After telling him 3 times to stop poking around I found him in my daughter's bedroom. I told them all to get out. Oh yeah, they were also late, and broke the granite top to one of our dressers. When I raised my concern to the owner of the company, I got a "sorry". Worst moving experience ever. read more

Had a great experience with Rocky Mountain! We had a a moving shuffle that included 3 houses, 2 storage units, and a full sized antique pool table. I had been dreading the day, but the Rocky Mountain crew made it absolutely painless. We had a really great, professional crew, that was also fun to be around. Price was also very reasonable. When I started the process of moving Rocky Mountain Movers was excellent, they were detailed, on top of things, and outlined costs ahead of time. Up front the team was great with communication and the team who came to pack up all by belongings were efficient and extremely careful. The team also did a great job with original delivery upon a cross country move, even given I had small windows of time to accept given my own heavy travel schedule. Unfortunately when they originally delivered a few boxes were missing (understandable, these things happen). I was slightly stressed though as one of those boxes did contain personal priceless items from photos to one of a kind hand made items picked up around the globe. From initial discovery of the missing items (it did take me abut a week or so to fully unpack and realize some items were not accounted for) to delivery it took about 4 weeks. The communication did seem to falter during this time frame as I had to call multiple times for status updates as well. Once they were finally able to locate and ship the missing items, the delivery date for those was pushed back a couple times (to be fair there were tough weather conditions here in Florida). Unfortunately when the missing items were ultimately delivered multiple (3) items were broken. I had called customer service about these issues as it felt a larger conversation to rectify the issues was warranted, (outside of submitting the broken items through a web portal). I was told a manger would be in touch but about three weeks later I don't believe I've received any communication from the organization. Overall it started out as a very positive experience, however a few unfortunate incidents at the end made me feel like I received less than the ~$6K service I paid for. read more

I do not recommend Rocky Mountain Movers. I wrote a very long review but it was too long to post, so here is the shortened version. They didn't bring enough guys for our job. They knew we lived on the 3rd floor with no elevator. They quoted us 6-8 hours for the job; it took them that long to get everything out of our condo. Our new bldg has an elevator, but it still took them 6 hours to bring everything up and in. In the end, it took 13 hours and cost us double the bid. They worked hard, but the company should have scheduled more guys, especially when it was taking so long just to unload our condo. At the end of the 13 hour day of moving, we were blamed for no elevator at the old place, a slow elevator at the new place, heavy furniture, etc as the reasons it took so long and cost double. They dropped one of our chairs off the truck and it shattered - they did bring a used one to replace it a few days later. Two floor lamps never made it here; they said it wasn't their problem bc we checked the truck and it was empty. Some expensive tools that we had left at our condo to pick up a few days later disappeared, and they left a HUGE mess at our old place. We would have appreciated some acknowledgment that the job was bigger than they thought, and not them blaming everything on us. At the end of the day, they lacked professionalism. read more

This company is excellent! We had two movers and a truck at first, but one of the movers highly recommended getting a third mover to speed up the process since we had a lot of furniture. I thought it was a scam, and he was trying to get me to pay more but I ended up getting the last worker there anyways. The workers they sent were really nice and friendly. They were really hard workers. I know some people would try to take their time since they're paid hourly but these guys worked their butts off! I did have issues with timing though. They said they would arrive at 1:30 but ran into some issues with the last appointment and didn't show up until 3:30. I bought them dinner and they thanked us many times and said they really appreciated it! They were polite and really friendly. I'll definitely use this company again. read more

They did a reasonably good job, but it could have been better. The biggest complaint is that they did not have electric tools and they took more than 10 mins to unscrew one GORM Shelving unit or 16 screws. In the end, they over-counted about 10 mins and charged more than 30 bucks for plastic wrap which was used very little. OK, but not great. read more

These guys were great. The estimate process was quick and informative. It was easy to reach the office by phone to adjust moving dates and ask questions. The movers didn't dawdle and were very careful with our stuff. We had four movers and two trucks. They actually seemed to have fun at work! They blasted bluegrass and reggae tunes from the truck. We bought them pizza for lunch and they were just cool guys to be around. The final cost came in a couple hundred under the estimate and they were very honest about everything -- even deducted 30 minutes for the pizza break. No hidden costs or surprises. I have used Rocky Mountain movers several times in the past and it was a great experience. This time however, is not so good! I have 2 items that just didn't make it to my apartment and things damaged. I know they were not left in the apartment because I walked the apartment before we left to make sure we had everything. Only one custom made rod could have been missed because it was very thin and placed on a counter top after my walk through and everything else was packed into the truck I am sorry to say I would not recommend this crew. I am out easily at least $150 dollars in things that were damaged or that did not make it to my new location. Even tho one of the items was old, t was still very functional and I have to replace it. I was disappointed by both the move and the response after moving a very large fridge. The four men arrived on time and quickly loaded the approximately 1,700 pound fridge onto their truck. After arriving at our delivery site, they unloaded the fridge quickly and placed it in the exact spot we needed it. Unfortunately, there were problems. Even though asked not to, the workers kept grabbing the exposed compressor on the top of the fridge. The fridge was a tight fit through the door so they had to remove the automatic closure device. They refused to put it back "because they were late for their next appointment." We also discovered a hole punched in the facade on top of the fridge. The person we purchased it from confirmed with photos that the hole did not exist before moving. They also scratched a trailer parked outside the door. The movers were far more interested in getting to their next appointment than actually getting this one right. We understand there can be mistakes when moving, so we addressed the issue to management, which resulted in this review. Greg asked that I send photos after our phone conversation which I did happily. There has been no communication from him since. I asked for nothing more than an "I'm sorry." but got a "Let me talk to my guys about this." Two stars because the fridge got to it's destination and works. Minus three stars for poor people skills. read more

Awful Company they definitely care about your money in their pocket and nothing else. They have reckless drivers that don't pay attention and park in a red zone in front of a Fire Hydrant. They broke a grate in road and because we did not have a picture of them parking in the red zone they would not fix it. I can only imagine that if they BROKE your COUCH, OR CHINA OR ANY OTHER item while moving they would want a picture of the item in the employee's hands for proof. Even then they proably will not replace or fix the item. IF YOU WANT BROKEN STUFF ROCKY MOUNTAIN MOVERS ARE YOUR NEXT MOVING COMPANY. Good luck if you go with them, you will need it. read more

We moved several difficult items, including a piano and leather couch, and they didn't break a sweat. Not only did three of our boxes not make it to our new place, this company was completely unwilling to make it right because we didn't report the missing boxes in the first 48 hours. And had we reported it, their "insurance" is only 60 cents a pound. The nature of the move kept us from realizing the boxes were missing for a few weeks. The manager I spoke with said that because of the lapsed time, he wasn't inclined to believe they left any boxes and insinuated that we could be making it up. My experience in talking with him was very negative with zero willingness to help in any way or apologize. He made it feel like it was our fault for not double checking their work. read more

They moved us to our new home 2 months ago and in the process broke the foot to one of our big screen TVs. They said they would replace it. I called to follow up 2-3 weeks later and was told the part was ordered. Then I called just 2 weeks ago to follow up and was told they had received the wrong part and had lost my phone number and didn't know how to get a hold of me. Then I was told to order the part myself and they would credit my account....whatever that means. My TV is currently being held up by books on one side. I would say use them at your own risk. If they break or ruin something, they won't make it right. Very disappointing! read more

called their estimator greg to come out and price a move,he was late and in a surly unfriendly mood.still he gave me a quote and I said I would take it.he did not tell the office as I requested him to do.they called and said they cancelled my hold on a time date I needed.seems like every time was somebody different -think I talked to 6 or 7 different ladies.because his error I now have to start again searching.very displeased.greg should have advised me to call in but he did not.extremely poor customer service.last lady I talked to could care less they screwed up and would not fix ..said call somebody else......did not treat me well. read more

I really enjoyed the service I received at Rocky Mountain Movers. They accommodated me when I was going to be about 45 minutes late. They moved my two bedroom apartment in about 3 hours and I was pleasantly surprised they were able to get it done so quickly with two guys. The only complaints I would have would be that one piece of furniture was slightly dinged but the thing was 300 lbs so it's not so bad. They also took a chunk out of my concrete stair at my apartment with the dolly so hopefully management does not notice. I think they could've been a bit more careful but I'm happy overall. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Do not hire them unless you want to get charged a ridiculous price and get screwed. They took forever to load up our stuff. They were laughing and messing around; not at all trying to be fast. We were moving from an apartment and did not have that much stuff and 3 guys took over 3 hours to get the truck loaded. They were supposed to follow us to our new place but instead they did not show up until an HOUR after we got to the new place. Clearly they stopped for lunch but they denied it. They took apart a standing mirror that could have easily just fit into my car, let alone a huge truck. They took apart and bubble wrapped every single little tiny item. To add time to our bill I'm sure. When I opened my jewelry box, it was clear it had been turned upside down. All of my necklaces were in a huge clump of tangled chains. I have moved several times and never removed the necklaces from the sides and this has never happened to me. Our TV died a couple of days after we moved in. It was a fairly new TV so we are guessing they dropped it or who know what. They charged us $800. When we moved last time and hired a different company, our bill was $250. Rocky Mountain Movers moved my goods this past summer from Lehi to Draper, UT. I was very disappointed. Their staff arrived early, talked on the phone during the move, damaged a door, was not able to hook up my dryer and did not balance my washer. I selected them over other services because of their ability for washer/dryer hook up and it turns out that their staff is totally incompetent in this regard. Months later, I was told that my washer was bouncing around because it had not been balanced. Every time I use my washer, the water connection breaks and I have a lot of water to mop up. Rocky Mountain has a very short amount of time to let them know of any issues ... regardless of the time that has gone by, I think they should fix this as I was not able to diagnose this problem myself, especially in the time frame given. I was ready to submit a positive review had they agreed to take responsibility for this problem but, instead, I am writing this negative review. I have used this company before, more than once, so they were the first ones I called when I bought my house. It was an absolute DISASTER. The movers were late getting there, then the two man crew moved slower than any mover I have ever seen. We had to listen to them yell and swear at each other the whole time they worked, which was very unprofessional and uncomfortable. The house was completely packed and ready to load when they got there. When it started to sprinkle, the two movers disappeared without a word! Went looking for them and they were sitting in the truck, doing nothing. They took the time to throw their empty cardboard under the truck to protect it from the rain, but left my brand new refrigerator that had just been delivered that morning, out in the weather without so much as a blanket to protect it. They started at 10, and at noon I asked the one mover to tell me what time they would be done loading the truck, and he gave me the time of 1:30 pm. They weren't done loading till 4:30! When I called the owner/operator, he was rude and completely unhelpful, made excuses for the slowness of the movers. Started telling me how he had been by the house and didn't see anything wrong with the way they were doing things. When they finally got to the new house, it was after 6 pm. When I called the owner, Greg, to complain about the slowness, he was patronizing. He started telling me how the truck had to be loaded a certain way, and that I didn't understand - until I informed him that I have moved 42 times, and that I know darn well how to pack a truck, and that I have packed many trucks myself, and could do it faster than these guys were moving! Since that didn't work to intimidate me, he became belligerant, even escalating to threatening! I finally handed the phone to my husband because I could not deal with him any more, he threatened to have my husband arrested for "theft of services". He called both my husband and I liars when we told him of our last experience (with his own company), that it had taken a three man crew five hours to make roughly the same move these guys had taken twice that time for, and from a 2000 square foot house, instead of the 600 square foot apartment they were moving that day! He said it couldn't be done and kept telling me "That was nine years ago", as if the time frame had something to do with the movers' speed capability.. Meanwhile, the movers yelled at me, yelled at my husband, argued with my husband when he told them to just stack the boxes in the first two rooms rather than try to organize anything, then called my husband a liar, just like his boss had done, when my husband told him what the previous moving crew had been able to do years before. Finally, the owner agreed to knock off an hour and a half of the TEN HOURS it took his guys to move us, and agreed to accept $700 that day and the remaining $200 on our next payday. Don't bother calling this company. If this is the way that they treat loyal, return customers, I will never, ever call them again and will certainly NEVER recommend them to anyone. read more

I think they stopped off to steal something of mine because it was missing after I took months looking for it afterwards. They say don't let them handle valuables. I was going to use another company that did an office move where I work, but the online reviews for that company scared me off. A friend recommended RMM, and the online reviews were very good. I wish we had had the same experience as some other reviewers. The quote process and office folks were great, but the crew they sent was a little lackluster. We had a lot of stuff dinged from careless handling. To top it off, at the end of the day, the lead guy told my wife to be sure to put the gratuity on a separate check, as if the gratuity was required, as opposed to being a bonus for a job well done. The irritation of that incident becomes more acute as we unwrap and unpack and discover just how many things got 'dinged' in the move. Overall, not a horrible experience, but I expected more, especially after reading the other reviews. read more

We had Rocky Mountain do a 2 part move for us. Once into a storage shed while a new home was being constructed and then about 18 months later when the home was finished. We ended up missing about 12 to 15 boxes of belongings. Where they ended up is anyone's guess. In the first move to the storage facility, we had 3 of their large box trucks crammed full however, when they showed up to the new house 18 months later, 2 of the trucks were full and the third was only about half full. We didn't think much about it until we emptied all of the boxes and noticed things that were missing. We went back and forth with the owner, Greg, but got nowhere with him. Some concerns we had with them: 1- They kept our belongings at their facility one night but they couldn't access their surveillance cameras to see if someone had broken into one of the vans because the cameras weren't working. 2- They wouldn't offer any compensation for missing items, even though they had insurance for it. 3- Their estimate was 42% higher than the billed amount. 4-We had several damaged and broken items which I didn't even bring up, except one, which they eventually repaired. 5- Greg returned only one of many calls made to him. 6- Had to hound them for a deposit made on some moving quilts, which they eventually repaid. 7- The last thing Greg said to me was "I'm not going to take any responsibility for your missing stuff". Things I liked: 1- Greg was very accommodating in scheduling the 2 moves. 2- His staff was eager to make sure everything was placed correctly. If you decide to use their services, I suggest that you keep a detailed inventory list and/or photos of your items and have the foreman sign-off on what is put into the van and repeat the process when they unload your belongings. I wish that I had done this because now I am out several items worth thousand of dollars. read more
