Canoe rental $20, gliding across the clear water in the middle of a summer day day without a bead of sweat? PRICELESS
    Ginger L.

A day full of fun and so inexpensive! If you visit on a weekday it's just $4 a vehicle to get in the park. (And it's less if you're a Maryland resident.) We got to rent canoes for $20 a piece. You can explore several beaches, go fishing, circle the islands, or simply relax in the center of the lake and soak up the rays. We had a blast walking some of the trails and watching kids make sandcastles on the shores. Not to mention there is plenty of room for cookouts, and large family gatherings. The playground is well kept, the restrooms are huge and fully stocked, and there are even showers. All of these facilities are incredibly well-cared for. You can camp for less than $40 a day. You can rent a yurt for &70! There is an amphitheatre! Need I go on?! There are lifeguards galore too so it's the perfect spot for families. Your kids can basically roam free like it's 1970. Which is basically what the entire county feels like...

Spinach and Egg White Frittata on a bagel

Rooms are a 3 star, phone is dirty and the room is average. Lakeside restaurant first night room service, I got the Salmon dinner it was fine nothing special, my husband got the Basil Parmesan Crusted Chicken, with pasta it looked like cafeteria food and it was not good. Total $115.00 for 2 people, no alcohol. Breakfast at Lakeside was okay, dropped another $55.00 for 2 omelets and coffee. So we went to the grocery store and got some stuff to fill in. Last morning here we purchased 2 Spinach and Egg White Frittatas on a bagel, see picture below and they are 9.00 each and not good.

Awesome state park in Maryland! Spent the weekend at a campsite here. Dog friendly. Love the trail that surrounds the lake. Bathrooms are clean. Plenty of picnic tables for a family event.

The best place to go in all of Allegany county! Lots of trails for people with different difficulty levels, camping, boating, and the beach area! Kayaks can be rented for $10 an hour to paddle in Lake Habbeb. The grounds are beautiful any time of the year. A must see!

Beautiful State Park! We camp affordable prices, lake, beach, casinos, and hotel available. Information about wild animal around the park, they also have a small museum, bathrooms, and cafeteria. 1 camp site showers beyond expectativa, place to clean dishes, and spacious spot for camping. Don't Forget to bring you trash at the end of your camping day it is located it at the entrance. Let's keep our park nice and clean. 2 lake, museum, and gift shop nice and organize. Also they have a cafeteria around and parking available. 3 beach and boat rental it is a beutiful state park you are going to love it.

nice clear water lake and sandy beach just off of the picnic and grilling day area. pedal boars to rent. the cafe and visitor center weren't open when cane but the kids loved the playground. bring some big spray for the gnats. a good spot to chill and have a picnic. we stoped in for lunch after riding the western Maryland railroad about 10 miles away. 0

    Handicapped access to the water

I really like this park in the area that falls within the campground. Scenic views and there's a hike around the lake were much harder hikes that I didn't do. The campground was well-kept up and have the cleanest restrooms. The trails or maintained well. Staff was friendly and they provide a lot of information at the campground check in. They have an ADA handicapped access. I saw a way for a wheelchair to go down to the water and they have handicap accessible showers. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because of the noise of trucks and other vehicles driving on the road adjacent to the park. The 35 mph speed limit is not enforced and trucks are very noisy and can be heard in the park. I had a nice campsite however all night long I heard trucks and what was especially annoying was when the semi's hit their breaks. I think you can also here vehicles traveling on the freeway as it is very close to the park. Funny that there is a casino in a state park I never seen that before. I stopped in to look around but did not stay.

Lake Habeeb from "Fir" camping loop

What a fantastic park! Way to go Maryland! Campground is clean, organized, and pleasant. Over 250 campsites. Lake Habeeb is very pretty. Staff very helpful. Cooler temps & lower humidity. LOVED they had a separate beach for the campground, away from the day-use beach. Plenty of trails, wish I went on more than I did. Even the golf course there looks interesting & challenging (didn't golf though). My only thing is I wish the showers had longer-lasting hot water, but they were very clean. I'll definitely return.

This place is so beautiful and peaceful. Went with a group of friends and had a cook out. They have grills for it. Benches. The lake is nice. We had canoes and went paddling out in the lake. We also swam in it. It was enjoyable.

It was a great park, nice, clean and beautiful views. Decent amenities, clean restrooms (of course that can change given the amount of people who go there.) visited for one day, a ton of space we opted out for getting there around 2pm since in the morning or by the time we decided to go here we would of never found a decent spot to settle In. Around 2-3 the first wave of people who get there since 7am starts leaving so you'll be able to get a nice spot around the man made beach. We where their until around 7-8pm.. don't forget your HAMMOCK!! they do allow dogs at this park and they have their section with little dog baggies.

Do o need a fishing license?

Yes, you need a Maryland license.

Does anyone have any information on primitive camping or as they free? Areas you can post up a tent legally all websites keep saying this park allows it so I'm checking if anyone has any personal experience!! Thanks

We found all the staff at Eagle's Nest to be very pleasant, friendly and accommodating. We had about 15 rigs, and rented one cabin. Paul placed us in sites very near each other, and close to the pavilion which perfectly met our needs for the event. The pavilion near the creek, with electricity, lighting, a nearby restroom, and running water, was a great set-up for our group meetings and meals. Paul even set up a fire ring near the pavilion for our evening campfire and music. The camp facilities were very clean and level, with full services at each site. The restaurant on site (Fireside Inn) has an extensive menu. Try the cauliflower soup ... it is FABULOUS. Eagles Nest is conveniently located near Cumberland, MD - a great local tourism spot with museums, shops, restaurants, and a scenic railroad ride. The campground is still a work in progress and we look forward to going back to see how it is coming along. Paul has a great vision for further improvements and is working hard toward that end. With a mix of seasonal and transient residents, most in self-contained units, there is little need for public facilities. Some in our group might have preferred a public bathhouse (in future development plan), but the lack of a public bathhouse would not prevent our return. Happy trails ...

Photo Credits: Photography by 3Spade7Star…read more Five River Campgrounds exceeded my highest expectations and had the most friendly, kindest, and most wonderful staff & owners. The campground is famous for its sold out annual Bluegrass festival yet it is gaining attention for its powwow events. It was very easy to find the campground. We went to the Five River Campgrounds for the Third Annual Powwow in Parsons in June 2025. It was the most meaningful pow wow I ever experienced. The owners of the campground (Joyce & John) gave the sales of the tickets to the powwow to the MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women) Memorial Grove. The non profit organization is involved in promoting awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Some of the performers gave their earnings to MMIW Memorial Grove as well. The Five Rivers Campgrounds owners welcomed us with open arms and immediately noticed us as photographers. We do a lot of philanthropic work in photography yet we rarely get noticed or thanked by many people for it. The owners of the campground were selling tee shirts and stickers with our photography. We had given permission to have our photography used to the performer we have taken the photo of and we were happy to see that he & the owners of the campground were displaying our photography on tee shirts and stickers in the campground shop. The campgrounds are beautiful with views of the mountain. Immediately staff helped us park and alerted us of the speed limit on the campgrounds. The powwow was held outdoors and there was an open air arena with a roof to provide shade. The stage in the venue had a shelter and a good view. You had to provide your own seating, yet we knew that beforehand. The fee for the pow wow was $10 for two days, and we captured the most memorable and beautiful photos we ever took on those days of performers in regalia against green foliage and the mountains. The powwow was small yet the amazing camaraderie and performers were unforgettable. This was one of the finest powwow venues in ambiance, performance, connections, and professionalism we ever experienced.

We have stayed here twice now and it definitely has its pros and cons. For us, it is close by and…read moreso for an impromptu weekend getaway it is a good option for us. We stayed in their back in FHU sites in site 102 on 2 different occasions. On our first visit, being new to camping we were nervous to have a back in site and I emailed them asking about the possibility of switching to an available FHU pull thru site I saw they had available.. they were excellent with communicating with me over email which was greatly appreciated!! They told me if the site was still available when we checked in we could switch to that site if we wished but they thought our original back in site was much nicer and spacious and shaded.. so we trusted their judgement and gave it a shot and it's easily "to us" the best site there ! Like many of campgrounds FHU pull thru sites are exposed to a lot of sun .. this is the case here too .. They do offer a fire pit and a picnic table at each site. They have gravel on the sites that could use some grading. There is some settling from them putting in FHU's.. so some extra leveling needed on your part to make sure your camper is not titling one way or the other here but still nice shade for the back in sites that you won't get in the FHU sites. The seasonal campers cruise the campground in their golf carts all through the night up till quiet time .. but they were all that we had encountered were super nice. The campground does not offer golf cart rentals. You can bring your own for a fee. Their playground could be better .. they have 2 heavy see saws and some swings and a Gaga ball area.. our kids literally said "where is the slide.." they are 2 and 4 years old.. so it disappointed us to an extent. They have a nice pool area with umbrellas available and super tiny store. However, the prices are super reasonable ! So they have some things you could need.. and then ice cream and snacks and magnets. The prices are low in comparison to other camps we have been to.. They do offer events depending on the season and holiday.. our first experience was an Easter egg hunt in August .. but it was fun for the kids .. and they also were able to do sand art which was all FREE. I loved that for the kids.. august is an odd month.. between seasons.. They do charge $10 per visitor which we were super bothered by because we have alot of near by family we don't get to see often and for them to come it would be $20 a pair ! They aren't even going to take part in amenities .. I have been to bigger camps that don't even charge for a visitor or at the most $5. I saw on their map that they used to charge $5 and increased it.. so I am sure something occurred to spark that spike in price. I appears to be run by a family .. the wife manages the emails and office and the husband handles the maintenance and the son is in the office and helps with checking in and out and making magnets and etc .. everyone was super nice though. The bathhouse was very clean and they have a laundry facility on site as well. It is pet friendly too! They do have a catch and realize pond but I honestly am not sure how because the aquatic plant growth around the edges would make it almost impossible to reel in their lines especially someone with smaller children. We were bummed by this sadly. This campground is literally minutes away from Rocky Gap State Park (where you can also fish) and 15 minutes from Cumberland, MD.
