After the constructions are completed, the park will start to request campers or day visitors to make reservations online during holidays and weekends visitors. Atmosphere: it's a large park filled with nature's love, trees, water, birds, logs, dirt paths, bugs, wildlife, fresh air and tables benches roads for visitors. Service: staff in the visitors' center are friendly and knowledgeable. Value: you cannot put a price tag on your love of nature and experience of outdoors. Parking: there is no issue to find parkings inside the park, just depending on how far you are willing to walk. Beautiful park, highly recommend.

I think families with young kids (or even new swimmers) really appreciate the "beach" area because the water level doesn't exceed 5.5 feet (swimming vests are encouraged). There are life guards present as well. There are spacious bathrooms available for use a short walk up from the water and have changing rooms in addition to shower areas as well. The bathrooms were clean as well as the changing rooms, but there was a lot of standing water in areas. I'd definitely recommend walking carefully. Bring a picnic and come early if you plan on getting a grill. Those were all taken even on the weekday we went. The walk to the waterfall is moderate and enjoyable, not too long but enough to make you feel like you earned the view at the end. The sound of the water and the peaceful atmosphere make it a great escape from daily routines. The park is clean and well maintained and there are plenty of picnic areas where you can relax after your hike. I also liked that the parking was easy to find and there were signs guiding the way clearly. It can get a little crowded during weekends so coming earlier in the day is definitely a better idea. Overall it's a calm and scenic spot for hiking relaxing or just breathing some fresh air. It's not the biggest waterfall you'll see but the overall vibe of the park makes it worth visiting at least once if you're around the area.

A bit of a mixed bag for me at Cunningham Falls…read more.. I was excited to find a listing of parks that supposedly had wheelchair accessible trails. I've never been to Cunningham Falls before and the idea of seeing a waterfall seemed lovely. However, the accessible boardwalk has strips on pretty much everything board which made me feel like I was riding a very angry horse. Each bump shot pain up my spine. I'm writing this a day later and I still hurt, and I think I'm a pretty tough chick... and the view of the falls was mostly blocked and not worth the actual pain. The Falls is more like a small stream of water that splashes down some rocks. It's a soothing noise but I was expecting something more grandiose... I suppose I could blame climate change. Most of the old stream beds are dry. We also checked out the "south beach" which I enjoyed. There's plenty of pavement, and packed gravel. I couldn't get close to the water, but that's okay because it was a sunny day and I prefer to stick to the shade. I was impressed by the fact that every picnic table has a grill nearby. If I lived closer I'd like to think I'd come to the south beach often, hide in the trees near the river, grill something delicious... but I was a several hours long trip from Dundalk, so it's unlikely that I'll return. It was a nice day-trip though. I don't regret going.

And the bathrooms were unlocked. Yay! It's a nice short hike up to the monument and overlook area. You can climb to the top of the monument using the little stairs inside the structure. You're rewarded with an incredible view of the vista when you reach the top and emerge from the stones. The history is interesting. You also get a bonus - a little hike on the Appalachian Trail. Watch out for bears and copperhead snakes. Oh my!

(Not that I'd want to hold either.) we met Dobbii the bearded dragon who is quite the snuggler. Doesn't take long to see the animals and there are lots of trails to explore as well as a playground for the kiddos.

This is actually the headquarters of the very long C&O Canal park. A large building is…read moreadministrative only. A repurposed warehouse offers a small selection of exhibits. There isn't much to do indoors. No park fee is charged in this area. The point of coming is of course to spend time outdoors. This is one of the areas where the canal is actually carried over a creek by an aqueduct, which is interesting to look at. As this section of the canal actually has water, a pedestrian bridge is necessary to traverse it (or you can drive over a one-lane bridge and park on the scenic side). This section of the canal is quiet, but as with the entire length of the trail, makes for excellent walking.

There is also a really neat wall of painted rocks that the community has been contributing to which is awesome because we all get to add to one big piece of art! On a few of my walks here, I've seen deer, raccoons, and foxes so there is a pretty good chance you may spot some wildlife too.
