Wonderful dog park! Grass is beautiful and well kept, location is in a quiet area and away from the loud traffic from Interetate 30. Small and large dog area. A terrific playground is beside the dog park and you can keep an eye on your dogs and kids at the same time! My dogs travel with me and we have stopped at many dog parks throughout the states- this park is one of the cleanest! For a smaller Texas community this dog park I feel like I found a hidden gem! read more

Looks really nice but unfortunately CLOSED! But their are plenty of trails nearby to walk your dog on. Rules are very strick here but Iam sure that there is a good reason )to protect yourself and your dog.) I myself have never seen this before but maybe it's a Texas thing. Great park with a great dog park inside. Very little waste on ground. Mature trees provide shade. Met some lovely dogs and people. Would be a really good place to take children. Pool too! read more

I am hoping to upgrade to 5 stars once the big dog park renovations are done. Our hound has a bad neck and having her in the same park as the boxers and weim's running around like mad was a bit rough on the nerves and we also saw a chihuahua too terrified to go in the park with the big dogs. It was also a bummer that the water was turned off; some dogs looked really thirsty. A dog park is only as good as the people who maintain it and the people who frequent it. So far, so good. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of people who were fixing their purebred dogs. This instills confidence in me that the owners are responsible. When we were there there was only one dog whose behavior was questionable but it never escalated. Ample parking even on a busy Saturday morning. Hoping this remains the case once the pool opens back up but that is yet to be seen. Bags and trash bins are available, which is definitely a necessity. I love that there are benches; hoping more will be added with time. I have high hopes for this park, being the only one within a decent driving distance for me. Mainly only giving 4 stars because I'm so happy there is finally a dog park in Rockwall ! .. I think they for sure have some kinks to iron out but over all ,it is nice . I like that they have benches and on one side the have trees for shade . The trees being there for sure keep the dogs from getting over heated . Now on the other side of the dog park where the big dogs I believe are supposed to go , there is no trees and it gets blistering hot ! Also there is an issue with the water pipe line or something that makes one area all ways muddy no matter how dry the days have been . Hopfully they fix that soon . But once again ! I'm very happy there is a dog park in Rockwall now ! Yay ! read more

This was our first visit to the Dog Park. Our first impression was good. It's nice to have a place where dogs can socialize--ours is an only dog who only has cats and people to talk to! The fence is sturdy and there is an area for small dogs and an area for large dogs. There is a dog/human drinking fountain in the common area. Nice! I looked around for the washing/splash area advertised on the parks and recreation site and only saw a drain in the concrete! No water splashing for us! The large dog area had a few areas with nice mulch and Bermuda grass but a lot of mud and a LOT of dog poop. And dirty chewed up toys left behind that looked toxic to touch. Unfortunately, we were the only people at the park on a Friday at lunch. Boo! This could be a great place with a little TLC and some regular attention from the Parks department. Surely property tax revenues in Rockwall are high enough to pay for some extra mulch and sanitation? This should be a 5 star dog park. read more

I'm not a big dog park visitor as my two little ones look more like "toys" compared to most dogs, but I stopped by this place yesterday to check out the area for small dogs. It was alittle sad. All the people who were there with their dogs were in the "big dog" section because that's the section with trees & shade. The small dog area had one lonely little tree and 3 benches which, if you're sitting out in the hot sun, can get pretty warm. The grass is in dire need of mowing which might be troublesome for some tiny dogs! I'm glad Rockwall has a doggie park but wished there was something more that could be done to make the small dog area more inviting - maybe plant some shade trees..., put in some little hills... or something? read more

The other reviews are pretty fairly written and I can echo what they have said. We are new dog owners and aren't familiar with dog parks. For our first experience, the area was clean and well kept. That said, the small dog area was empty when we went also and it seemed all the dogs were in the larger, shaded area. I was nervous about little my small and young puppy take off on his own with such big dogs and didn't see the point in keep him in the small dog area by himself so we ended up just walking on the leash. We'll try again another day, keeping in mind the lack of shade for the small dog area. For bigger dogs, seems like a great option to me! read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. There was no mention on the website that there was maintenance today so we drove over an hour to bring our dogs. And to top it off, no maintenance was being done at all. And they still wouldn't let us take our babies in for a few mins to play after being in the car so long. Thanks a lot city of Rockwall. You're the best. NOT. Just go to Dallas. We've probably been about 5 times now and we and our dogs love it. We have seen no aggressive dogs at all and if they start acting up or get too excited, the owners are quick to address it. If you go when the weather is nice(evenings) there are several dogs. We've seen probably 10-15 dogs on avg each time. People are friendly. Fresh dog and human water fountains. Poop scoop bags/trash can available. PLeASE watch your dog as you mingle, it's your responsibility to clean up after your pooch. read more

I love that Rockwall has a dog park! It is new looking and well kept up. I gave it 3 starts because it's fairly small. Considering there are acres of park surrounding it I wish they could have given it more space. It's also a little difficult to find - if you go to the wrong park entrance you won't see it. It's located next to the pool and huge playground (also a negative for me...it's just too crowded with other things near it). However, it's probably easier for the city to manage this way. Overall, it's a definite plus for the city! read more

This is right by our house and I like to walk my dogs there. They are always excited to meet new friends. The only downside is that the small dog section has no shade and is really small. It has no hills for dogs to get their excerise;it's just flat. My dogs are small, but they love to run around and play fetch. I will tend to go into the "big" dog section so my little ones can run around. This section is a lot bigger and actually has some shade. They need to do something else with the smaller section. I could not let my large dog play in the park because there were at least five small dogs (15lbs or less) in the large dog park. This happens frequently. The small dog park was empty. I did consider letting my dog run in there. However, the gate between the two parks is not secure and I was worried that my dog would get through the gate. read more

I just moved to Rowlett, and was excited to have a dog park fairly close. I was very disappointed. The dog park was soooo dirty. Poop was every where. No trees and the large dog area was not so large. I may be spoiled since I lived in Arlington, and their park is large and was cleaner than this park. I am sorry to say I will not be back. I was in there with my Yorkie (less than 6 lbs) on an early Sunday morning. No one came until a lady and her son with their two shelties. I asked if they would not mind if my dog was over there because he does like big dogs. We went over there and he had a lot of fun. But there was one thing that happened- my small dog found an opening under the fence and he slipped through. That scared me to death! The woman's son ran around the parimeters of the park and picked up my dog. I thanked them so much for what they did. If someone could check all over the park to make sure that there are no places for any small dogs can slip through. We would like to keep going out there becuase it is the closest park for us. When the trees they have planted are full grown, it would be great! Maybe they could put out picnic tables- one for each side would give much more seating. Otherwise, we would get a 5 star from me! Worst dog park ever. There were children everywhere that assualted my dogs. A grown man pulled my dog by one leg and my dogs could not run around and play with out a child there. There are no parents watching their kids and they chase and assault the dogs. The dog park is next to a playground and I feel sorry for the child whose parent isn't watching and the child gets bit by a nervous dog. read more
