I ordered a Quantum spinning reel just like the one that I purchased at Bass Pro Shop for $71.00 inc tax. The same exact reel from Sportsman's Wholesale was $37.00 inc shipping saving me $34.00. I ordered it on a Saturday and it arrived the following Friday morning just as it was stated in the purchase agreement. Ordering could not have been easier and the whole process was simplified enough for even me ( 70 yr old ), old school type who grew up buying everything from a store of one type or another. I didn't realize there was a store wide sale of 50 percent off and they were going to be flooded with shoppers. But that was ok We stepped to the register area in the ladies section of the store, stopping at the register on the left when facing the check out station - Before I could get beyond we would like to make an exchange the associate we were speaking with turned , called another associate over and with the most sarcastic tone of voice and eye contact said: We have another exchange. I'm confident without a doubt she had a long day but her attitude and tone were completely unnecessary. I've been stopping by The Neuse Sport Shop for many years and have never had a less than positive encounter with any other associate. I completely understand seasonal help is essential during the holiday season but basic courtesy isn't a trate the store should have to teach. Maybe associates should be reminded to treat each guest as they would like to be treated and let their personality shine as bright as the day they were interviewed / hired for the position. I have been fly fishing for 40 years. This young man is a avid fisherman. But his flyrods are not loaded with the incorrect weight line. Generally you take an 8 weight and "cheat" and load it with 9 weight line. I had an 8 weight with 7 weight line that he provided. I can double haul a fly with the right line into the backing. He is focused on the easy catch, a bait ball. He has never used a switch rod or a Spey rod. He is basically a "gear head" lots of spin rods on board. I know, I am a demanding client. But I was very specific "Just get us on fish, and only with a fly rod in my hand." Any time I have fished off the Carolinas I have caught Spanish Mackerel, He did not have a fly rod set us with a bite leader, even though he said if the False Albacore were not on, we will catch Spanish Mackerel. He provided a "boat ride"...and I have a boat. Save your money. Shame on me for not doing more careful research on Perry's abilities. As much I like Perry, he blew it. He should have been honest and told me to save my money. It was a boat ride. Find another guide is my best advice for you. Oh, and for $900 he does not provide a simple lunch, like a 6 inch Subway. My bad, fool me once shame on you...but he will never fool this angler a second time. The guest I brought along did get sea sick, and Perry was considerate and compassionate towards him. But that was later in the day. Perry did discount the trip to a 3/4 day, ($750). But the bigger point was the bite was never on, and he knew it. They always have a couple of chest freezers stocked with a great selection of fresh frozen baits packaged in nice sized packs that I used up in a day or two of fishing. The freezers are always clean,organized & not overstocked,translating to nice,quality baits.They also keep nice sized live & kicking green crabs when they can get them. Another great offering is single/tandem kayak rentals at a really fair price.I rented one for a whole day for the price other places quoted me for a half day to just a couple of hrs & if you book online you get a $$ break.You can also fish off of their private dock for a couple of bucks,which is really worth it when Bicentennial Park is overwhelmed with a bunch of families & "munchers"(my kind term for yahoos & others who'll stand 3ft from you & eventually cause you some sort of misery,lmao!) They also have artificials of every size,shape & color & the coolers up the middle of the shop always have a gem that you need or not really but ya know how that is,for a way better price than the big W or other places in the area,AND you can find a great discount on alot of them. Noticed they had porch swings, but we wanted one with the NC and SC emblem on the back were told it can be done. Went back and ordered it and paid in full on June 17th. Was told it would be ready on or around June 20th, great we live out of town so that would be perfect. I started calling July 6th and the phone just rang. Finally, a young girl answered, and I was told the swing would there on July 8th we had someone go by 4 times on 7/8 they were closed.... they are open Wed thru Sun 7am to 7pm. Started calling again the next Wednesday and I haven't even mentioned the numerous Facebook messages that were sent and never answered, or I was told oh come get it Friday again..... The guy would never call us back. We had already had someone go by this business on 3 separate occasions and they were closed. Finally, I sent him a message on FB have our refund or our swing my husband will be there July 23rd....they were closed! After a texting conversation between the owner and my husband they were to meet this morning at 9:30am, guess what the guy was a no show/no call! How inconsiderate can a person be? My husband found out that the furniture was made in Cape Carteret, NC and googled it and found the guys making it and drove the extra distance to pick it up. These guys said we weren't the first people to complain. If you are looking for outdoor furniture don't do like we did, and drive the extra distance to Cape Carteret and go see the guys who actually make the furniture and deal directly with them unless you want to be lied to as this guy could care less about you once he has your money!
