I live on the coast, my daughter, who lives in the he Raleigh area was down and had a Christmas gift she needed to exchange - we took the time / day to drive to the Kinston store the day after Christmas. I didn't realize there was a store wide sale of 50 percent off and they were going to be flooded with shoppers. But that was ok We stepped to the register area in the ladies section of the store, stopping at the register on the left when facing the check out station - Before I could get beyond we would like to make an exchange the associate we were speaking with turned , called another associate over and with the most sarcastic tone of voice and eye contact said: We have another exchange. I'm confident without a doubt she had a long day but her attitude and tone were completely unnecessary. I've been stopping by The Neuse Sport Shop for many years and have never had a less than positive encounter with any other associate. I completely understand seasonal help is essential during the holiday season but basic courtesy isn't a trate the store should have to teach. Maybe associates should be reminded to treat each guest as they would like to be treated and let their personality shine as bright as the day they were interviewed / hired for the position. As it ended up, after looking around we didn't make the exchange , we'll try the Cape Carteret store . *The associate we encountered had below the shoulder, thicker, dark hair that was parted down the middle. Received $100 online gift card from my son. Ordered an inshore rod that was shown as in stock, at $119. Order was cancelled not in stock. Ordered a less expensive inshore rod shown as in stock, plus some lures to make total over $100 for free shipping. Rod order was cancelled not in stock. Received the lures. Now I'm afraid to order a rod plus enough other items for free shipping. So I ordered another rod shown as in stock, but have to pay shipping. Waiting to see if this is also cancelled. read more

Staff not wanting to do their job. I came to Neuse because they are a Benelli dealer. Since I have been having problems with my firearm, I contacted Benelli and they said that I can bring it to any dealer and they would be more than willing to help me out and get the firearm shipped back to the manufacturer for repairs. When I went to Neuse, the lady behind the firearms counter proceeded to argue with me for several minutes and refused to help me at all. Then as I turned to walk away she begins talking poorly about me to her co-worker. She shouldn't work there to begin with and definitely shouldn't work behind the firearms counter. read more

Went in to grab a few things for a new to us boat. Spent $320, but they had everything that we needed, and then some. Was clean and cashier was nice and compliments well. Love the ability to get everything we need for boating and fishing. read more

We were visiting from out of town and needed a collared shirt. The selection of clothing for me was okay, but the prices were insane! The employees were all very nice. Store is clean. I'd shop here again if needed but will bring more cash! I didn't look at the other items they sell but I'm sure they have a good selection of outdoor items and for being in a fishing and vacation area this is convenient. read more

I purchased 2 guns from them. When I brought all my paperwork in, they told me everything was good and sold them to me. The following day, I was called saying that my orders were not the correct ones that they needed. I explained to them that the paperwork they needed, I didn't have access too. I said I would try to get it for them but don't know how long it would take. The next day, I believe the store manager called me and threatened me that if the paperwork wasn't brought into their store by 4 pm that they would be contacting the ATF to have them come cease the guns from me. I told her how this wasn't my fault as they approved these orders and sold me the guns. I'm truly not trying to be hardheaded with this but don't call and threaten me with saying you're calling the ATF on me since you excepted the wrong paperwork. I have used these same orders at other gun stores in the past with no issues. Normally all gun sales are final but I guess not when it is favor of the store. Very poor customer skills and hostile when no need to be. read more

To the gentlemen who posted the review about his Benelli needing repair. Did you buy the gun from Neuse? I purchased a Browning from Neuse in Cedar Point that needed repair, and Neuse was very helpful in sending it back to Browning for repair-but I did have to fill out paperwork, and not just drop my gun off. I'm sure you were frustrated but you don't just drop off a gun without paperwork being filled out on a gun repair. Neuse was very helpful, and professional in handling my Browning repair. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews for any business, but this is the second time I've encountered a store that discriminates against military members. I will not ever visit a Neuse Sport shop again. My wife and I were refused service because of their own store policy, not because of any legal requirement, but because we don't have NC Drivers Licenses, despite being provided every necessary document required to make a purchase. If you're stationed here in NC and are not a resident, I'd take your business somewhere else. read more

ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY BEWARE OF THIS STORE! If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would! I'm active duty for almost 24 years, and this store REFUSED to sell a gun to me! I already own 3 others, never had an issue. I have an out of state drivers license that has expired, however, it remains valid as long as I'm stationed outside of my home state according to our state laws, and I have the documentation to verify it. On top of it, I provided them my passport, proof or orders, an active duty ID and I have a North Carolina CCW! I gave them all the paper work required and they refused to sell because I don't have a NC drivers license. WTF?!?! I'm in the military, I don't need a NC license! Then they changed their story and said it's bc my drivers license is expired... this has never stopped me from buying a gun before. The ATF explicitly lists the documents I provided as acceptable on the forms required to purchase. Neuse Sports did reassure me that their refusal to sell was strictly due to their company policy and NOT any ATF, State or Federal guidelines. If you are military and not a resident of NC, this policy discriminates against you. Another interesting point to mention: If you are a spouse of an active duty member stationed in NC and are not a resident, you CAN NOT purchase a firearm from Neuse Sports. Another jewel of their policy is that you must provide a copy of your orders to prove that you are stationed here. They will accept your spouse's orders for your spouse, but not for you. I asked about this specifically and the employees confirmed this. This is a military community, your actions are unacceptable. I can guarantee you that myself a long with a lot of others will not be shopping at your stores. And rest assure, I'll make sure my fellow service members are well informed of your business practices. read more

PRICE CHECK EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU BUY FROM HERE!! This is a really nice store with a great selection of everything you need for the outdoors...BUT...you must price check everything that they have in stock!! Many of their items you can find at other stores for over 1/2 the cost that Neuse Sports Shop tries to charge you. I have bought things here and taken them back after finding them elsewhere for 50% cheaper. I have spoken to the managers and they are aware but say they do not control the prices. read more

Rude staff. Would not help on questions I had and when asked for help they seemed clueless. Never shopping there again.

My husband went into the store ask the front cashier where an air compressor might be, she wasn't sure where one could be, she tried several times to get someone to help my husband after failed attempts she pointed him in the direction of where he could find help to locate this item. When he arrived to that area the employees did not acknowledge his presence and continued their conversation for several minutes still ignoring him he decided to leave. While walking out the door he told the manager what it happened and told him he was gonna go shop somewhere else if his employees are unwilling to help. And the manager said okay, have a great day. Did not care at all how he was treated. I wonder how many people walk out of that store because they are not acknowledged or help in anyway? Companies wonder why they go under? And why we choose to buy items online.. bc they allow their employees to treat the customers as if they are interrupting their day by being at their store to purchase some thing. I hate to do this becsuse I have always shopped and used this and the Kinston store. However, I am deeply concerned. I noticed .380 ammo on sale for around $37.00 a few days ago. It was mixed with other boxes of the same ammo for approximately 47.00. I suspected a pricing error, and moved on. I returned to the store a few days later (Thanksgiving Thursday) to check out possible early Black Friday sales and purchase ammo. I was pleased to hear Black Friday was 10% off all ammo. Unfortunately, I was even more "shocked" to see the same ammo was now marked up over $54.00. Cant help but feeling something is really wrong here! The above issue was not previously posted since I considered the event an anomaly for such a nice store.....until now (17 Feb, 2020). I decided to switch my dog food to Victor Professional. Unfortunately, the 40 lb bag I purchased was expired. Although, easily switched for a new bag, there are obvious issues with the staff at the Cedar Point store. Its a shame. I hate to do this but I've got to give a three star rating! Reason being the service! I've been looking into buying a Penn Bait Runner spinning Reel! Call me old school but I like to handle a product before I buy it! Penn sells the same Reel with out the upgrade so I stopped by the Cedar Point location to take a look at the Reel! The first time I stop in I stood around the Reel counter for awhile and I never had anyone ask if they could help me! Other than the cashier I don't even see anyone! So I thought maybe there in a meeting who knows! I thought I would just stop buy at another time! I can order the Reel from Penn but I like to keep my business locally! I went on the Neuse website and sent a text inquiring about ordering the the Reel! I got a immediate response telling me they would be more than happy to order it for me and have it shipped to me! Great but I still won't to see it and get a feel for what I'm buying! I stop buy for a second time! As I walked through the door about three or four employees were caring a Kayak out! I even had to step to one side to get out of there way! Once they got the Kayak sat down they all turned and walked away! Not even one of them even looked my way! I was just before walking out and saying the hell with it and buy from Penn! As I started for the door a employee who was talking with the cashier finally asked if he could help! He was very helpful he let me see several models. I decided to get back in touch with the person I was in contact with and order the Reel! I don't understand why this person could not have done it! I could have paid for it and have it shipped to my house! I've been doing business with the Kinston store for many years and I will continue to do business with them!
