All of our accounts activity is in the records. My business associate has a driver's license from out of state. Recently, he changed his address in the bank's system to a MA address. We wanted to open a business account and when she requested our IDs, Balvina asked why my associste didn't have a Massachusetts driver's license. To which he replied that he would process it later. Her second question was, when? Is she an immigration agent? We try to explain to her that the address in the system is the current one in Massachusetts. How? She asked, If this account has been opened since 2012. Even though we explained that my associate lived in another state and returned, there was no reason she would understand and we felt very discriminated against. My husband raised his voice asking her why she came up with those questions. To which she replied that it was for security. Security as a border patrol officer? She should be asking in a different way not focused on his legal status. Even though, the business address is a different of the personal. We are very upset, we decided to leave the branch. Hopefully they take care of this type of actions in the future because it seems that they do not have space for immigrants. This type of behavior is unacceptable. We know we have bad days sometimes, but she never stepped back on her behavior, she didn't apologized. We are immigrants, I own a restaurant I know how people can act, when they assume their privilege.

It is so so so different than the Revere and Lynn locations. When you approach the bank, you feel special that your walking into a distinguished building with ramps, flowers and the over all appeal of a high quality financial institution that you can't get from the surround towns branches. Upon walking in, there is a spacious hallway that houses a couple ATM Machines. Passing these and going thru a second set of French doors you enter the main banking area. The bank has an open floor plan with a nautical design, and has an usually large main room housing the teller counters and a few desks. The main focal point is a huge ships wheel off to the right, it is approximately five feet tall and in perfect condition. It is amazing and worthy of taking a photo with it and sending it to a lover of anything nautical. There's also a huge three foot or so ship enclosed in glass and is just breath taking. The tellers here are absolutely the best!! They are very professional, attentive and caring??? Yes I am talking about Bank of America?? I've given other branches 1 or 2 Stars and felt I gave them to good of a rating. Going to Winthrop's Branch just enforces the rating I gave the others. I believe this is one of the best, if not the best Bank I have entered. I usually cringe when I need to go to a Bank of America to conduct even the easiest transaction until now, I will go out of my way to use the Winthrop Branch as it is top notch and even enjoyable to use. In years past, because of my schedule, I did you this branch more frequently. I have always had a positive experience here. Everyone is always pleasant, friendly, and professional. So, what caught my eye was the fact that the yelp rating was not 5star( as I would have expected). Upon closer inspection, one lengthy note( with a 1 star rating) was from someone who presented the manager with a request without the necessary paperwork to back it up. Their big beef was with the manager, Ms Miranda. I take strong exception with how they described her and their bank dealings. For a time( actually in the same time interval as that couple ) she was my go to person for all my banking needs, and made many good things happen. I feel bad that Yelp had to print out such a review. I wonder how "calm" this couples behavior was in this interaction. They go to a branch away from their own and expect to not meet with some resistance regarding missing paperwork. There are always two sides to every story, but Ms Miranda, as a bank employee, I'm sure was not allowed to rise to the bait to respond. That terrible yelp post is over eight years old. The bank manger is no longer there. Personnel have changed, why , therefore, are these very old posts allowed to still factor into the ratings? Yelp needs to figure that out! As far as the other negative posts, which are also quite old, they decry the attitude of the personnel. Once again, I was a bank customer during all that time, and it's like we are talking about two different banks. People there are always pleasant and handle all transactions efficiently.

The inside of the bank was clean and well organized. They offer free pens and lollipops. The Teller was readily helpful, more so because I did not have an account number. I thanked them and they gave me the money remaining in my account. They gave me all 100 dollar bills. Today I went back to see if I could switch a few 100 dollar bills for 20's. I was told no since I was no longer a customer. I was floored. I asked the teller if I could speak to the manager. The Teller Manager got involved and said that they wouldn't do it. It was against the banks policy and she follows the rules. Again, I was amazed at the poor service. As a 43 year former Bank of America Senior Vice President, I know BOA wouldn't have treated anyone like that. Especially a good customer up until yesterday.
