My Rockland Trust debit card information was stolen and used by someone in another state to make a…read morepurchase of nearly $1,000.00 I was sent a text message from Rockland Trust on that day asking me if I made this purchase, to which I replied "NO", and the card was subsequently frozen and my account was given a provisional credit for that $1,000.00 fraudulent purchase. Fast forward 3 months later, and the provisional credit I had been given was then RESCINDED by Rockland Trust, and I was told they had been given "proof" by the merchant where the fraudulent transaction occurred that it was not fraudulent, despite the fact that the bank itself CONTACTED me that day when the purchase was made as they suspected it to be fraudulent. Now Rockland Trust is telling me there is "nothing more we can do", despite having already being able to provide me a credit for the fraudulent purchase that they TOLD me about the moment it happened. I will very likely be taking my business elsewhere entirely and never banking here again because of this complete failure, on Rockland Trust's part, to protect me and my financial security despite every indication and piece of evidence they had to do so.

He tries so smooth over the fact that my application was closed, no one notified me, all my chat requests went to noone becasue the application as closed. I had to start over and completely redo the application and credit check as the manager refused to reopen my application. Would not approve a one time authorized exception. I informed him I will only stay with Rockland if they reopen and offer help in closing fast. He said no. Gave me a phone number and told me to leave a voicemail with Louis in collections to see if I could get my payments paused. Who the hell leaves voicemails with corporations. How is that an option. In fairness.....I review my emails, I see I have a doc saying the loan would be closed if I did not provide the info by the 7th. Noone called or checked in. The portal chat did not have a date or share this deadline. There were no personalized email "warning updates" These scumbags are the type that would be like, "well we emailed you a blurry document which lists in the fine print that we need this closed by the 10th so this is your fault. They cant even refinance a lone that they own. HELOCS are easy money for a bank. Show me you don't want my business without telling me you dont want my business. Meanwhile... All of our accounts activity is in the records. My business associate has a driver's license from out of state. Recently, he changed his address in the bank's system to a MA address. We wanted to open a business account and when she requested our IDs, Balvina asked why my associste didn't have a Massachusetts driver's license. To which he replied that he would process it later. Her second question was, when? Is she an immigration agent? We try to explain to her that the address in the system is the current one in Massachusetts. How? She asked, If this account has been opened since 2012. Even though we explained that my associate lived in another state and returned, there was no reason she would understand and we felt very discriminated against. My husband raised his voice asking her why she came up with those questions. To which she replied that it was for security. Security as a border patrol officer? She should be asking in a different way not focused on his legal status. Even though, the business address is a different of the personal. We are very upset, we decided to leave the branch. To be honest, I never thought I would ever give Bank Of America more than 1 to 2 Stars. I consider…read morethem to be a horrible Bank. So I find myself shaking my head as I LOVE THIS BRANCH. It is so so so different than the Revere and Lynn locations. When you approach the bank, you feel special that your walking into a distinguished building with ramps, flowers and the over all appeal of a high quality financial institution that you can't get from the surround towns branches. Upon walking in, there is a spacious hallway that houses a couple ATM Machines. Passing these and going thru a second set of French doors you enter the main banking area. The bank has an open floor plan with a nautical design, and has an usually large main room housing the teller counters and a few desks. The main focal point is a huge ships wheel off to the right, it is approximately five feet tall and in perfect condition. It is amazing and worthy of taking a photo with it and sending it to a lover of anything nautical. There's also a huge three foot or so ship enclosed in glass and is just breath taking. The tellers here are absolutely the best!! They are very professional, attentive and caring??? Yes I am talking about Bank of America?? I've given other branches 1 or 2 Stars and felt I gave them to good of a rating. Going to Winthrop's Branch just enforces the rating I gave the others. I believe this is one of the best, if not the best Bank I have entered. I usually cringe when I need to go to a Bank of America to conduct even the easiest transaction until now, I will go out of my way to use the Winthrop Branch as it is top notch and even enjoyable to use. Upon closer inspection, one lengthy note( with a 1 star rating) was from someone who presented the manager with a request without the necessary paperwork to back it up. Their big beef was with the manager, Ms Miranda. I take strong exception with how they described her and their bank dealings. For a time( actually in the same time interval as that couple ) she was my go to person for all my banking needs, and made many good things happen. I feel bad that Yelp had to print out such a review. I wonder how "calm" this couples behavior was in this interaction. They go to a branch away from their own and expect to not meet with some resistance regarding missing paperwork. There are always two sides to every story, but Ms Miranda, as a bank employee, I'm sure was not allowed to rise to the bait to respond. That terrible yelp post is over eight years old. The bank manger is no longer there. Personnel have changed, why , therefore, are these very old posts allowed to still factor into the ratings? Yelp needs to figure that out! As far as the other negative posts, which are also quite old, they decry the attitude of the personnel. I can't speak to loans as I never took one from here. But the online/app/distant ATM experience has been increasingly frustrating for the last year or two. "Upgrade" should always be used in quotation marks no matter the business, but the bugs are ridiculous and this time around there's been no response to two requests to fix things. I no longer live in MA, but for the first year or so in my new neighborhood (and all over the country and the world), ATMs worked fine. Then in summer 2019, they (literally) overnight started rejecting transactions. The explanation was that the machines (not supported by Metro) didn't have the right security features, but they had the day before, so...? And this latest upgrade is so far not horrible, but at least two regular monthly transactions have changed or been dropped and I'm guessing my emails are waiting in a queue somewhere. Not worth it anymore.

Metro contacted me and told me I needed flood insurance. I purchased $70,000 in flood insurance. I got a letter from them that they accepted my insurance at the amount I purchased. Banking rules and FEMA rules both state that financial institutions cannot make you purchase more insurance than you could owe them. A year later Metro contacted me and told me I needed to purchase $500,000 in flood insurance. I sent them copies of the banking rules. They didn't care. I asked to speak to the underwriters that made this change. They refused to let me speak to anyone with authority over this unfair business practice. While I was trying to work with them they purchased the $500,000 policy at my expense. I had no choice but to refinance with another credit union who confirmed there was no need to purchase more than I owed them. I believe Metro intentionally forced me out because mortgage rates had risen to 7% and they weren't making enough profit on me. Unfair business practices against banking rules. I was with them for over 10 years. Beware of this institution, they are crooks. I'd rate them -10 if I could.
