It's not their specialty, and their hamsters always seem content so it's not a major thing but larger wheels, larger cages, etc I think would be a lot more informative to the future pet owner than Kaytee products.

I was the only customer in the store, store doors were wide open with the undeniable overwhelming smell of pot. Both employees repeatedly walked away from me while I was simply trying to buy a replacement fish. They kept trying to up-sell & I explained that I only needed the fish and was ready to pay, but I still felt ignored and treated with hostility. While I was on the phone speaking to my mother in another language, one employee made a comment along the lines of, "If you can speak another language, so can I," after speaking under her breath in a very harsh & angry language, to the 2nd employee. The entire interaction made me feel singled out, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. Whether intentional or not, the experience felt disrespectful and discriminatory. I ended up leaving without making a purchase and looked over my shoulder to see the 2nd employee glaring at me through the front door. I went to PetSmart instead, where I was treated kindly and professionally. I believe every customer deserves to be treated with basic courtesy and respect, regardless of religion, appearance, or the language they speak.

Neil picked up the phone and answered lots of questions without trying to sell me anything. I had to visit the fish farm and was in awe. I have never seen koi fish in such abundance and varieties. The holding pens are huge with tremendous filtering systems and tons of happy fish doing what they do. Neil spends time answering questions and making sure that the fish will be going to a good home. They also offer an on-site grooming salon with bath, haircut, nail trims, ear cleaning. Dog training classes are available at this location as well, pet adoption and there's a vet in the back of the store. I love the option of ordering online with aeither an in store or curbside pickup. It's convenient and quick. Prices here seem to be fair. I've bought fish and a bearded dragon, though I wouldn't recommend the beardies here. While the price looks great, ours got cancer and died after 1.5 years. Vet said it was genetic. These days, I mostly get fish and crickets. They also sell birds and have cats to adopt.

Each dog we got from Doug has been healthy from the start. We had all three at the same time! We lost the oldest last year to cancer at 12-1/2 yrs old. The middle dog will be 12 next week. He's is in good health. They are Morkies. 4 years ago we got a Shih Tzu. She is precious and healthy! And each dog came with AKC papers. Every time we stop in with the dogs or without, the staff could not be more helpful and welcoming. Even when we just stop by to say hello! Are they pricey? Absolutely. But they are a small business paying hefty rent, no doubt! It is New City! Do i think its wrong to charge to pet the puppies? Yes. And No. kids go in to pet dogs and they are not always gentle. I imagine they dont want to spend their day watching over kids who are not going to purchase a puppy. They are a business, after all. Bottom line. Dont rule out Pet Palace.
