We went to take my 5 year old to a free trail last week. It was extremely uncomfortable & unprofessional. When we walked in the "owner" didn't even shake my hand or look me in the eye. Within 5 minutes of being there this Chris weirdo decided to tell a child who was not acting up mind you, to "DONT EVER LIE TO MY FACE EVER AGAIN". In an extremely aggressive tone. That kind of response is never warranted to let alone an adult but a 5 year old!?? He very lucky it was not my child. But it disturbed us enough to bolt out of there. This man has some serious control issues and I would never trust him with any authority especially over young children. I've reported this establishment to the right authorities. Absolutely love this karate place. Instructors are amazing and get the young ones engaged. My son has been coming here for several months (since age 4) and enjoys it. Recently got my son signed up for his first tournament and he's now even more excited. TL;DR version: great instruction, excellent value! It can be very difficult to find a good place to train in martial arts. Some places focus purely on getting money out of their students, others try to teach "modernized" or "distilled" martial arts, some take themselves too seriously and some have an awesome combination of the above. Rockhold Karate is not such a place. Master Rockhold is very knowledgable and you can tell he has been doing martial arts for a long time. He has a passion for martial arts and gladly shares what he knows with all his students. His classes are fun, but he always challenges students while ensuring that their technique and form is correct so don't that they don't hurt themselves, something that's very easy to do in martial arts. In addition the classes have fitness and conditioning built in, but it never feels like you're "working out." As someone that's out of shape and in dire need to get in shape his classes are having a very noticeable positive effect on my health and energy levels. The value for what you get at Rockhold Karate is great as the schedule is very good as a working professional. read more

Our son (8th grader) has been attending Rockhold Karate Tang Soo Do classes for about two years now. We attended his sixth belt test today, and I wanted to share again how impressed we are with Mr. Rockhold and his team. It was clear during the testing that the participants (which included 9-year-olds through adults in this test) learn more than just self-defense and martial arts movements and forms. The Korean language was used and reviewed, as was some history of how the martial art that each participant used came to be. Self-discipline, helping and supporting each other and respecting each person's differences were exemplified and encouraged. Even though these individuals were testing, it was a relaxed, although disciplined, and fun atmosphere. My son loves this place! We finally found a sport that he is passionate about. I think a big reason thay my son likes it is because of Master Rockhold. He is very patient with the children and allows them to progress at their own pace. He does a great job at building their confidence because he believes in earning the next rank, not just giving it to them. I started Kickboxing classes in January and go in general, 3x a week to take Kickboxing lessons. I really enjoy the class. I have started to notice the changes in my energy level and feel really great. The Taichi class was excellent! I did wushu for 15 or so years and pretty much killed my joints and body with jump kicks but I need to keep martial arts in my life. Teaching was very personalized. I loved that they incorporated weapons in their forms at the end. Everyone is also so friendly and having that comradery is hard to find in a martial arts school. There were impressive students doing their forms! The facility was also really modern and clean which is a plus! Everything looked brand new with cushy mats on the floors. Master Rockhold chatted with us after class that made me feel like I was back in my old wushu team again. Definitely coming back next chance I get! read more

We have been going to Rockhold Karate for over a year. This place is great! Master Rockhold is an excellent instructor. He pushes the kids to do their best and really works with them if they seem to be struggling with anything. I've seen so much improvement in my kid's behavior. I love the amount of classes that are available for the set monthly price, and my kids can do one or all of the classes. My grandson has been taking karate from Chris at Rockhold Karate for two years. His skills have improved steadily. Chris is very patient with the children and teaches discipline and self-confidence as well as karate. I especially like the mixed age classes.
