So I am a big fan of the box meals and have tried a number of different companies. Love Plated,…read moreHello Fresh, Martha and Marley Spoon. Our family does almost all of our meals with boxes. This has meant no more waste, no spending a bunch on eating out, much less time grocery shopping and meal planning, but still able to cook and eat together at home. Meez has been a new addition and has a lot about it that is great. The most remarkable thing is how quick it is to cook as they do ALL the prep for you. No chopping or peeling, it comes vacuum packed and ready to use whether that means cubed, shredded, or sliced. Also, quality of ingredients (while not necessarily organic, is very good, fresh, tasty). Generally Meez meals take 1/2 the time to make as the other services that rely on you doing the prep work. The meals themselves tend to be quite tasty, though we have not been crazy about some quirky flavor combos. Also, fewer meals to choose from than other services, so that can be frustrating. We have two vegetarian teenagers and there are always at least three veggie entrees. Also they are able to flex and make items vegan or gluten free if that is your thing. They tend to be somewhat lower calorie and some meals have the Weight Watchers points included if you care about that. The people at Meez are very nice and accommodating. However, they are a relatively newer, smaller business so.....NO app, just a website and its interface with my android phone is quirky. Also, other services show you menus for months to come, Meez has a couple weeks out only. Finally, Meez sends you a cardboard instructions, no pictures or step by step while most others do photos of each step. Not a big deal for me, but some might care. That said, I think they are greener and more of their stuff can recycle. Also, the other companies give you the whole recipe with amounts if you ever want to do it yourself. I have not seen that with Meez. In sum, great quality, super easy to make, very flexible for different dietary needs, no hard sell, just charged if you order (many services charge and send food unless you cancel). I use Meez for about 8 to 10 meals each month. Highly recommend you check them out.

Everything is already chopped and the sauces made for those days when you don't have time to cook! Their customer service is also very responsive. Pizza Papalis is a tremendous value, which is something I couldn't have guessed just looking at…read moretheir menu online. This has to do with how they do their sizing. Like I eat a lot. And the "small" Deep Dish Seafood could feed about 3 of me. Way, way bigger than any other "small" pizza that I've seen in my life. The "regular" antipasto salad easily fed my family of 3 with leftovers. I can't even imagine how big the "family" size portion is. And this brings me to their pizza. Both their Deep Dish and Detroit style are tremendous. Their Detroit style is better than modern Buddy's. They have a very flavorful sauce and I like how their cheese isn't spongy. It's flavorful and melted on top of the pizza. And 8 pieces easily feeds a family of 3. Huge slices. I love the deep dish pizza, and it's an item that you can only get from Papalis if you're in Michigan. The Seafood special pizza just flat out works. I've never had it anywhere else, but the cheese and sauce mixed with the crab and shrimp creates a unique flavor you can't find at any other pizza spot. It's been a favorite of mine and my family's for about 2 decades now. Awesome! Great people work here and every request was met with help and a smile. They were incredibly kind to everyone who walked through the door. Just be aware Deep Dish Pizza takes a while to cook The value and flavor of Papalis is great. Highly recommend!

Obviously I have seen all the people posting about their pancakes, and yes, they are the size of hubcaps. For real reals. The guy next to me ordered them and my eyes almost popped out of my head. But when I walked into this cute little spot on Agnes in West Village, right there on the wall, on one of those dark boards where you slide the letters in (I think they are called felt letter boards) were six glorious words: This Week's Specials - Fried Bologna Sammy. Well there you have it folks. Decision immediately made. Here's the caveat though, it wasn't your typical thick sliced baloney (yes, I know what I did there) with some American cheese on a bun. Nope nope nope. This was pan toasted bread, pickled onions, lettuce, cheese and her bed mayo that was nothing short of spectacular. I didn't know if I would like something more than what I usually had and I can emphatically say yes I did. Had a delicious cup o' Joe to wash it all down and honestly was the happiest fat boy in the whole wide world. The service was fantastic, the food was fantastic, the experience was fantastic. What more could you ask for ?

Guests of a "certain size" may need to opt for the chair not the bench, like I did, to avoid butt swiping the table next to you. I ordered the egg and cheese sandwich, without the spicy pimento cheese (they have cheddar available). I found their sausage to have a bit of a heat to it, but my SO thought I was crazy, so that's just personal preference - I like a sweeter sausage. I also got a side of the breakfast potatoes and schmear. They say "smashed" on the menu, but I was pleasantly surprised by the full mini potatoes. I could slice them up how I wanted and could choose my level of schmear to dip. I found them very good. The SO got pancakes and a side of sausage and enjoyed them both. They came around a lot to ask if he needed a refill on coffee and to top off my water which was nice. The food was out extremely fast, helps to have a limited menu! I would definitely come again.
