There's an entire cart full of different types of ginger ales and ginger beers! And another cart of root beers! And walls of fruit flavoured sodas! The only thing we couldn't find here was Reed's China Cola, but I bet they could get it we had bothered to ask. They've got empty cardboard carriers for assorted packs near the register. Prices are not cheap, but not outrageous, though I would love to see a loyalty card of some kind to help offset the fact that it'll take a while to get through every kind of ginger ale. As soon as we walked into Rocket Fizz, I said to my sister, "We're going to have to turn out the kids' pockets before we leave." If there had been a place like Rocket Fizz growing up, my parents would never have allowed us to go in - too much temptation! Anyway. RF has a giant selection of candy, sweets, and of course, every imaginable type of soda you could think of. There is packaged and bulk candy, every kind of bar candy, European and Asian-style candy, themed candy (Harry Potter, etc.), and...yes. In addition, there are also those sarcastically-yours tin signs for sale, placed all over the walls. It's a riot of stuff, let's be honest. The staff here were super-nice and patient with everyone. People who come in tend to ask obscure questions, plus all the kids and parents running around, being loud & obnoxious. I appreciated that the staff did not follow the kids around or side-eye them when they went elbows-deep in the bulk candy. (Yes, we did stop them immediately. No, we can't say for certain whether candy was eaten without being noticed.) The sodas - every kind, including their house-made stuff. The sodas are shelved among the candy, and there are coolers along the wall in case you want to have a butterbeer on your way out. The kids chose Butterbeers, and loved them, very tasty. I was all excited to patronize this local candy shop for the first time. What a huge disappointment. The store offers a decent if fairly ho-hum range of candies (from Hershey bars to Pop Rocks). But just about everything is grossly over-priced. They had a Choco-love bar that you can find in Lucky's or Whole Foods for 1/2 the price they charge. A woman checking out was charged $24 for two 4 packs of pop. Wielands has some of the same cool brands, and for a lot less. I was looking for Halloween candy, and asked what in the store might fall under a dollar a piece. (About half of the stock is unpriced -- Pity the poor child who has to go to the front desk with a piece of candy to ask "How much?"). The clerk acted aggrieved when asked for pricing, and when it was clear that the only thing under a dollar in the store were over-priced blow pops (79¢ each), retorted that they weren't selling snicker bars! Talk about poor customer service. Today I remembered the online candy shop I used for Halloween last year. Thank god for OldTimeCandy, a local online Ohio retailer from whom I just bought bags of well priced candies from the past (Lick- em sticks, Sugar Straws, Pop Rocks, and candy buttons, all ranging between 30-50¢ each. read more

We walked into the store on a Saturday and before even being greeted were sternly told to use sanitizer. My husband made a beeline to the candy he wanted to buy (right next to the sanitizer) and she rudely said to follow the arrows. We were the only ones in the store!!! We immediately walked out. I am a huge fan of candy stores so when I wandered by a few weeks ago I was immediately sucked into the sugar filled happy vortex that is Rocket Fizz. The store is a little bit of a mish mosh of an old general store/kitschy eclectic toy store. There are extensive displays of the more obscure candies (like the odd varieties of Jelly Belly, Kookabura licorice, and very esoteric chocolates). They even have astronaut ice cream! Dotting the store is every type of soda imaginable. It's a fun place to wander around and pick up a nibble or two. The staff is exactly what you'd expect for a candy store: happy, friendly, helpful, and approachable. I make a special effort to walk over here every time I am in the area to just wander about. Not only is the selection amazing, but the staff is great as well. There is one worker there with longer hair who stole my heart (In the non-creepy way!) They are so polite! My pal lost her money and they looked around all over the floor to try and find it. The selection is amazing. They have sodas that I cannot find anywhere else I look! I was recommended the Cock & Bull cherry ginger beer and it was life changing. Thank you kind people. That worker helped me find candy to buy and recommended a Kinder bar. I feel changed. Kind of a fun novelty experience. Nothing I would want to go back for. The extensive taffy selection is that awful hard kind that threatens to rip your dental work out with every bite. Rocket Fizz is absolutely fantastic! We found this store by chance during gallery hop, and it was a great find! The store is made for people who are addicted to sweets! They have hundreds of soda flavors, ranging from chocolate to bacon. They have oodles of retro candy, but they also have sections of European and Asian candy, which was a great find! I got quite nostalgic strolling through the store and seeing candy from some of my favorite places all around the world. They have a ton of great taffy flavors, including s'mores and maple bacon, which are quite good. I will definitely be going back any time I'm feeling nostalgic for some retro candy! read more
