This is 100% animal abuse and this business should be held responsible. I would go as far as to say shut down. My in laws boarded their dog George for 2 weeks while they were oot visiting their newborn grandson. The kennel provided no photos or updates, but no news is good news right? Wrong. He was skin and bones, would not hold his head up, and is having difficulty walking. I've provided photos of the dog before and after. The owners response is that the dog is hyperactive. Sure, some dogs in certain angles can show ribs and be 100% healthy. This is not that. I hope that anyone considering subjecting their pets to this type of treatment thinks twice. Unfortunately, my experience with my pet here at this boarding kennel was a nightmare. The kennel staff mistreated and underfed my dog during their stay. When I picked up my pet, his leg was hurt so badly, he could not walk. We had to take him to the vet for treatment and because of this acquired an extremely high bill. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dog kennel to anyone. If you truly care for your pet, please carefully choose a boarding facility that provides a safe and healthy environment where pets are treated with compassion and attention. Please be warned that this kennel may not provide adequate care for your pet. I hope this information saves others from the misfortune that my pet had experienced. read more

BEWARE! If you have a dog they don't like (pits especially), they will starve them and not take care of them! Such an abusive facility. Had a pitbull terrier for 16 days and that baby lost 10 pounds at their kennel service. No reason for anything like that. We have been using Rockdale Kennels for over 25 years. They have always treated our 7 dogs (past and present) extremely well. They always give them a spray and quick brush when we pick them up and when one of our older dogs decided to take a quick roll in something delightfully smelly just before we picked her up... bathed her belly and paws gratis. Last trip we forget the 325 mg enteric aspirin for our 2 senior Golden Retrievers. We asked the tech to please buy a bottle which she did... and refused payment at the time we picked up the dogs. She did give us the bottle. We also get a sympathy card whenever we call to inform them that one of their boarders has died. I cannot imagine using anyone else in the local area. read more

I used to work here. I stayed for almost a year (I wish I hadn't because it was extremely taxing on my mental health) the owner is very into micromanaging, and cutting people down. He openly admitted to me that he would watch p*rn in his office which is the door in the lobby right behind the front desk (who does that or tells a female employee that he does that???) he mistreats the dogs, I had witnessed him hitting dogs and yelling at dogs several times, he takes cats but admits he hates cats and wants to kill them and he often "jokes" of cooking the cat that lives in the lobby. He would make jokes like "I don't want your mom to think I raped you" and "what man wouldn't want to rape someone" When I left I took one of the dogs that was abandoned there with me and she is severely messed up and traumatized from being there for 10 months, she's scared of men and wheels and I'm pretty sure I know why. He fired me because I was "not completing my jobs" even though he would schedule me to be the only person working in the kennels cleaning and feeding and running the front desk but he never fixed the intercom system so customers could buzz me from the front desk while I'm cleaning kennels. He would never pay overtime (there was several weeks I was working 15 hour shifts 6 days in a row and then a normal 8 hour shift on the seventh day, I went 3 weeks with no time off most of it double shifts) the only reason he paid me my overtime is because I threatened to take him to court over all of it. read more

We've been using Rockdale Kennels for about 11 years through all our fur babies. They are excellent in the care of our sweeties. When we pick them up they are always well groomed and happy. I'm an overbearing mommy so I call everyday when we're on vacation. The staff are s always so gracious to me. If your pets are your family, this is the place to board them. I was Hired by Mr. Steven to work as a kennel tech. On my first day he was very micro managing and would dictate things I did again it's just my first day not to mention I was supposed to get off at 1:30pm and I got off at 4:45!! because there were 60 dogs and I was by myself. My second day there I worked faster that was until he showed up and once again micro managing things I did he also insulted me insinuating that I was handicapped which I greatly don't appreciate. He fired me saying I was not "fit" for the job. Also just a fyi if you're thinking about letting your pet stay here please don't just my 2 days of working there I've noticed a few things firstly he reuses the dog food meaning if a dog doesn't finish its food it goes in to a big bowl and labeled as "kennel food" which in my opinion is very unsanitary, he claims adding hot water to it kills the germs but what dog wants to eat soggy food?. Second the feces/urine, the animals doesn't have a designated area to do there business which means there is a fair chance your dog will be laying in there on mess and will catch something. As far as working here I wouldn't recommend it its not worth it. by the way I still haven't received my paycheck. I'm only 18 and this was my first job I am very upset and disappointed that for my first job I had to experience this. read more

This is the best kennel ever! We board our dog Nikaa to this kennel on a regular, Gary and Nancy are like family to our fur baby and to us too. Their employees are extremely gentle and attentive. Was not pleased with the amount of urine I had to wash from around my dogs paws and legs when I picked him up. He smelt like a farm goat! That's a clear sign that the kennel run was dirty! I'll return only as an absolute last resort. Staff was nice. read more

You don't want to work here. They don't have workers compensation so if you get bitten, or injured some other way, they'll expect you to pay your own medical expenses. If they do pay your medical expenses, they'll make it look like you did something wrong by getting injured. They have outdated equipment and an outdated facility. Dogs get injured on the chainlink fences all the time. This place should've been closed down years ago. They just have a lot of friends that owe them favors so reviews like this are removed immediately. read more

Absolutely TERRIBLE!!!! Owner is self consumed!!! Wants to blame all of her life situations and her forgetfulness on her employees. Took my two big dogs in to get them acclimated for vacation, they have never been boarded. My first two visits were free, paid for third. Walked in today not to a good morning, but "these free visits gotta stop!" I said excuse me but I paid last time. Response was "oh i didn't recognize you". It shouldn't matter if you recognize someone or not! Everyone who walks in your business should be treated with respect! Not to mention I always tip the employee's extremely well! This was the first time I boarded my dog at Rockdale Kennel. NEVER AGAIN!!! He normally goes to Camp Paradise Pet Resort on Smyrna Rd (*****) 5 star but because of a last minute family emergency, they were over booked so this was the only convenient place that could take him. Dropped my dog off June 11th - June 22nd. The day of pick up, Nancy told me that my dog had diarrhea and had pooped all over himself and his bed. She also told me that he had severe face rubbing (which he has never done). His entire nose was raw, pink with swollen knots on both sides and bleeding. I asked why wasn't I contacted, she said it was non emergency and they don't normally contact unless its an emergency. My yorkie was filty, stinky and miserable... The least that should have been done was to clean the diarrhea from his feet, stomach, etc.... instead, She offered to release him to me in that condition. I am so glad that I got to my yorkie in time and not have him suffer another day/night at this place.... I would recommend this place to a lost dog!!!!! read more
