So pleased we found Fantana after moving to Georgia! The owners are very kind and genuine and the property is a dogs heaven. When I picked my pups up, they were SOOO HAPPY and comfortable. From the get go, Grace(the owner) was super kind with communication and got my two pups in very last minute for us! Her husband greeted us and helped get them checked in with ease as it was our first time boarding with them. I have a young Great Dane who is full of energy and a bit anxious... that said, he was all kinds of crazy when I dropped him off since it was new territory... however, they allowed me to hang till he was calm and comfortable with a new place. They were so gentle with him and understanding he was a young pup in a new place! Honestly, it didn't take my dog long to warm up because the property itself is truly a dogs dream. There are plenty of pins for them to get outside time to run and play together or individually. I drive over an hour to keep my dogs here and it is very worth it! read more

First things first.... , the negative Yelp reviews shown for Fantana Farms are based on a previous owner. Yelp should do something about that issue. Grace and her husband bought the farm in June of 2021, so nothing before that time should be considered. I am adding my review to help provide information about current experiences at Fantana Farms. I have taken my dogs for boarding at Fantana Farms three times since January of 2022. We love Fantana Farms. My two dogs visit often for both long weekends and stays of more than 7 days. We love Fantana Farms so much that we drive from Atlanta to Covington to make sure our dogs have the best care while we are away. I am a cautious pet parent who does not like dog parks or most boarding facilities. I worry about the lack of oversight and dog fights. At Fantana Farms, I can leave my dogs without worry. Grace will monitor all the dogs and choose another dog to play with my dogs during a small and well supervised romp each afternoon. I like that thought is taken when putting dogs together for play and that is is only a very small group. Finally, one other thing I love is that we can pay a small fee to get the dogs washed and cleaned before pickup. This is huge. At the end of a vacation, the last thing I want to do is give my two dogs a bath as soon as we pick them up and bring them home. read more

I just want to say that the owners and staff at Fantana Farm and Kennel are amazing! I was worried about where to board my Max, because my vet (animal medical) was full. They referred me to Fantana Farm and Max couldn't have been in better hands. Grace kept me up to date on how Max was doing and even sent me pictures while I was out of town. They're set up nicely and have been very patient and kind to our sometimes over-sensitive rescue dogs. We drive an hour to get there and pass several local kennels along the way, so that should say it all. read more

Fantana used to be a great place for our dogs, but over the last few years, their service and rules have been inconsistent...however today the owner made a decision that convinced me that writing this review was the only appropriate response. Today is two days before Christmas and I had reservations for over a month and went to drop off my dogs (both of which have stayed at Fantana in the past). With the chaos of the pre-Christmas drop-offs, one of my dogs was nervous and barking at reception. The two people at the kennel spent about five minutes seeing if they could get him to stop barking when finally the owner said: "he's not going to fit in here." When I inquired about whether they could just share a run for the 4 nights I need them to stay I was told no. I have a flight I have to catch this evening and this put me in a complete and utter bind. We've been going to Fantana for at least ten years, but this was not a situation of letting a dog be a dog, this was a subjective decision made on a whim, and what appeared to be a bad mood. I can't with good conscience recommend Fantana anymore. Fortunately, my family was able to locate a kennel that had a cancellation and could take my dogs today, and in contrast, they were so welcoming to my babies, and my nervous barking baby was bark-free. We have a new business to partner with, it really wasn't fair for Fantana to put me in this bind. read more

Two stars rather than one based on previous experience with the kennel. However, following our last visit, we'll be looking for another boarding option. First, we've dealt with this kennel for years and have had no problems, so, when planning a 2 week trip to Ireland, we had no qualms about contacting them and reserving space for our two dogs. We'd seen the references to their "penthouse" option and with the heat, we were intrigued with the idea of an air-conditioned room, etc., but when we were shown the "penthouse", realized it was a room full of cages, pretty much like any conventional kennel. This was certainly not worth paying MORE for, so we opted for the usual farm experience. On our second day in Ireland, we received a message from my son. The kennel had contacted him saying that they'd lost one of the dogs. They claimed he'd climbed a fence and escaped. This is a small, middle-aged dog... and, in my experience, dogs are not great climbers. With the time difference, and our limited communication options in Ireland, we had a pretty tense several days worrying about our dog. They'd put up flyers offering a reward, and after several days, they had him back. Because of their inability to keep track of him, they'd moved both dogs to the "penthouse". On picking up the dogs, we were treated to a lot of excuses... we didn't tell them he was "prone to running away"... he must be more athletic than we realize, etc. We were also billed not only for the "upgrade" to the "penthouse", but for the $100 reward paid to the person who found the dog that they'd lost. Unbelievable!! Bottom line: My basic expectation of a business that boards dogs is to keep them safe, keep them fed, and, most of all, KEEP THEM. read more

This place does NOT like dogs. They say that your dogs are allowed to run free in the pasture, and play with the other dogs, but if your dog even growls at another dog (which is Dog-speak for "STOP JUMPING ON ME"), they will lock your dog in a cage for the whole week and not let them out. They won't even check the history that shows your dog has always been well-behaved - LOVED, even - on previous visits. They also won't feed your dog their normal diet, and require that the dogs eat their crappy kibble. My very active herding dogs came home totally lethargic, and with the skin worn off their noses from being locked in the cage for a whole week. The only reason we USED TO (but never will again) take our dogs to this place was that they used to have one girl who loved dogs and who knew our dogs were the friendliest dogs anywhere. Now that she is gone, this place is terrible. The nasty owner woman must have run off this wonderful girl the same way she has run off her once-were-loyal but no-longer-want-to-get-ripped off customers that truly love their dogs. IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOGS, TAKE THEM SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

I noticed Yelp "filtered" my last review, but that's okay, I needed to update it anyway! Since my last review, my AmStaff has been back multiple times (I can't keep track anymore). He's been for weekend visits, extended visits, and doggie day camp. He's always excited to go to Fantana, and always worn out when I pick him up! The staff is always very friendly and greets him with rubs and kisses. I also love that they wash all of his bedding and toys before sending him home. I was disappointed recently when I wanted to book a reservation, but found out they were booked (poor last minute planning on my part). The staff was nice enough to recommend another kennel in Conyers for me to contact. I have learned my lesson and have already booked his stays for the next 6 months. While I have nothing against boarding your dog at the vet's office, I sleep better knowing that my dog is playing with other dogs most of the day and is being treated well by the staff. That is worth the extra few dollars I spend at Fantana. read more
