Extremely frustrating experience. This group does not have the experience or aptitude for higher…read moreend work. This was not a small project - about 4-6 weeks of work. Owner is a nice guy but.... The work was very inconsistent. The mortar varies in color throughout the work, which was on three sides of the home. The joint lines in the first phase look like the work of inexperience. The mortar lines are very sloppy - they missed many. Less than a year later, there are many areas that the mortar has failed. We have stone wall caps, that were to be reset, per the quote. They were not...perhaps two small pieces were. These top caps were loose within a week after they left. This spring the mortar is literally falling out of the joints. With the multiple issues of the mortar color - some of the worse are these bluestone caps. They used a white mortar that looks ridiculous. They didn't lift the caps to replace the failed mortar under them. They just re-pointed them from the sides.....not even taking the time to straighten them. These guys need to use levels, tap measures and have better eyes. Lastly was the overall worksite management. They maybe cleaned up 70% of the way. Left a mess around the work areas. They need to sue tarps to protectbthe area. We are still picking up pieces of mortar on the ground. Parked on our lawn, after I asked them not to. Used a path in the lawn, that was just reseeded and that had to be redone. We trimmed some shrubs near the work for them. I asked them to let me know if they needed more space. No word about it from them....they just broke off the limbs of our mature shrubs bothering them. Warranty? Apparently not. Nick stopped returning texts and messages. I expect he is embarrassed and doesn't want to deal with the re-work needed. He should be embarrassed, but he should also step up and be responsible for these issues. Again....nice guy but

He said that is the cause of the snow melt getting into the basement and recommended landscaping vice foundation work. This would be a huge saving for me as the foundation work would be tens of thousands of dollars. I greatly appreciate Tony's professionalism and honesty and highly recommend him and his company T K Mason for similar stoneworks at your residence.

It was only a matter of time before it would crumble completely. Time to get it repaired. Unfortunately it was too far gone for a repair so a complete tear-down and rebuild was necessary. I received a few bids but I leaned towards Tony because of his positive reviews on several review sites. That and the fact that his bid was very competitive. Also, TK Mason did not ask for a percentage of the payment to accompany the signed contract. Some companies require a payment up front before the work begins and the remainder of the payment due at the end of the job. This was the deciding factor for me. There were a few delays, thanks to our rainy Spring weather but once a clear day was forecast, Tony's guys showed up and started work. They worked on my chimney all day, ripping out the old one and building a complete new structure. Their attention to detail was impressive and their brickwork expertise definitely showed on the finished product. They cleaned up nicely and left me with a chimney that will most likely outlast the rest of the house. I've posted a photo of the chimney taken while our roof was being replaced.

The representative from Merit responded within a week's time offering not just to repair the cracks, but offered to reseal the entire driveway! We were so thrilled because we NEVER receive this type of "GREAT" customer service...This is unheard of, and we thanked them profusely. Of importance, is that the driveway was originally installed by Poblocki Paving in 2010, and when we called that company asking about warranty and repairs to cracks, they basically laughed at us and told us that "what do 'YOU PEOPLE' expect us to do, repair it for free?" We would NEVER use or recommend Poblocki again, but HIGHLY recommend Merit Asphalt!

In the end, the were done faster than I expected. A few days later I noticed at the apron edge of the driveway the sealant seemed really thin and was starting to flake away. I contacted our salesperson who said they would send out Roy the seal manager. About a week later Roy came to the house and admitted the area was flaking up. He said it should be expected as that is the area that gets a lot of moisture. Yes, that area is where rain water will run off the driveway into the grass but I've sealed this driveway a few times over the years and never had that happen. In the end, nothing was done to fix it. He did offer to "throw down" some sealer if I really wanted him to....With what I paid for the service, that is not the response I expected. Would not recommend to anyone.

I should have written this review along time ago and I am ashamed that I didn't. Last November,…read more2023 we contacted AAA Asphalt to get an estimate for fixing part of our driveway. The culvert was pretty much eroded away and the driveway was sinking. We were already driving over a board to get in and out. Bryon came out to survey and gave us a quote which seemed reasonable so we decided to proceed. Bryon did everything to start the project by ordering the new culvert and obtaining the work permit. Within days the new culvert arrived and so the work began. Bryon and his team were amazing. They removed the old asphalt, installed 2 cement side walls, put in the new culvert, put down a stone base and a gravel base and graded for proper drainage followed by the new asphalt. After the 2 cement side walls went up the project only took 2 days. The city inspector also came out and was very happy with their work. A few changes were made along the way to enhance the longevity of our new driveways life which was a plus for us. Bryon kept us notified about what they were doing, and also sent us a video they made while the work was being completed. Bryon came out the day following the completion of the work to make sure all was good and a few days later called to make sure there were no problems. 2 days after the project was completed we were able to once again park in the driveway. Thank goodness for AAA Asphalt as a few days later we had the first snowfall of many to come. I hope to have them come again in the near future to do the rest of my driveway. Thank you Bryon and team, Linda and Dwayne

Until I did work for him I don't think that anyone would have known the truth, he usually hires non licensed "backyard mechanics" from Craigslist part time because he can't afford to hire someone full time. Which is fine, nothing wrong with that. I am a journeyman diesel mechanic with 10 years experience, 3 years in managerial roles running truck shops. I do side work, lots of it. The issue I am bringing hopefully to anyone in the future who might consider either doing work for this guy or potential customers is as follows, He literally refused to pay me, got called out on it, got scared and called the police. He then told the police that I was on drugs and drinking because he had no other reason to call 911, just an attempt at a scare tactic. The police came, we did field sobriety tests, and ultimately, a breathalyzer. Of course, they let me go. He also admits to me that he has called former employers of mine, I have all of this recorded on video/audio via iPhone. Unfortunately for him he is choosing to attempt to justify his actions by saying to the police that I was never even an employee there in the first place. Bryon has multiple self esteem issues, which is what led to my inevitable departure from the business. Just a warning to anyone out there whom may be concerned, I see other bad reviews on here I can personally attest to their legitimacy.

Steve quoted $1,000. His crew showed up and barely ground out the old mortar (going only a 1/2 inch deep before coating the seams with new mortar). I climbed on the roof and noted the shotty work. I called and texted Steve to discuss. He himself said mortar should be no less than 3/4" to 1". FYI, web says 2 to 3 times the width of a joint. Then Steve scolded his staff for telling me that they only did 1/2" (see photo of receipt). Steve was more upset that I knew the truth about the work they completed then he was about rectifying the job. He wanted me to call Champion (another local biz to confirm his story - i certainly wouldn't trust them either). He refused to adjust the bill and threatened to pull his team without them finishing. But Steve had called really late one night to ask why I hadn't hired him yet & asked if I had went with someone else because they were cheaper. I replied yes & even wanted to know who. Steve had added all of these requests onto the quote that I knew were not yet needed & were confirmed by two other masonry's! I get trying to upsell, but don't add things to the quote a customer actually doesn't need right at that moment if that's not what they're asking for! Bring it to their attention & let them know it's something that needs to be watched & eventually addressed, but not at this time. And give the quote for what 'is' needed instead of trying to scam them out of more money for whatever reason you may have; no moral, no values, need the work/money, etc.!?! The masonrys that I had come look over my place, I questioned them re: all these additionals & said 'both' companies were so honest & said the 'exact same things'; "the majority I didn't need & the rest could just be watched & done if/when the problem ever gets worse"! The one I ultimately chose for various reasons, went above and beyond what they were hired to do & my home looks beautiful again! So the moral of the story is, please get multiple quotes from companies, no matter how small of businesses you are choosing to go with! It's worth it in the end...!
