I was a loyal client at Current for five years and referred multiple friends. While I've had some…read moreexcellent color results there over the years, I ultimately decided not to return because the level of service became too inconsistent to justify the premium pricing. On my final visit, I paid over $275 (before gratuity) for partial highlights with a Level V stylist. The color itself was beautiful, but I was surprised by the limited amount of highlighting performed and later shared photos with the stylist showing a few noticeable gaps in color. The issue appeared minor and seemed easily correctable. Instead of being invited back for an evaluation or correction, I was told the issue was related to the quality of my hair and was advised to take a collagen/biotin supplement and come back in a few months. None of these concerns about my hair were communicated to me during my appointment. Even more disappointing was the lack of follow-through from management. After I reached out, I was told the matter would be reviewed and that I would receive a follow-up. That follow-up never came. A few months later, I declined a future appointment and explained why--again, I received no response. My biggest disappointment was how my concerns were handled afterward by both the stylist and management. A disappointing appointment can often be resolved. A lack of communication and accountability is much harder to overlook. For that reason, I've chosen not to return.

There is zero ambiance. There are no offers made for tea or coffee. There isn't much way you can feel very pampered or comfortable. My friend was with me and was made to move, I had to move my jacket for this other client and it was awkward and cramped. There is music strangely blaring into the room from the main area, instead of coming from within the suite, so that was odd. It was never explained beforehand how long this process would take, so it was awkward having to wait around 20 minutes and another 20 minutes in a place that had no magazines, tv, distractions, nothing. Mona barely smiled and didn't really make much conversation. I had come in with leg pain and she didn't seem to care at all about that. She kept bringing up a part of my hair I am embarrassed about. Another salon screwed up a section of my hair. I am used to stylists asking about it. But she constantly kept bringing it up, and it embarrassed me in front of her other client who by the way, showed up out of the blue. She had made an appointment and Mona apparently just forgot all about it. It seemed quite unprofessional. I explained that I can't afford a cut, but even after that she brought up my split ends. I can't afford fixing that so what's the point of even mentioning it? It just made me feel more self conscious Halfway through she asked if I want to make another booking. I found that a bit odd and hard sell. I made it clear I would let her know, but she asked again after I paid her. At this point I did not feel like giving a 20% tip. So I gave her far less than. I will never forget the disapproving look she gave when I gave her too small of a tip. There have been other times in my life I haven't been able to afford giving a "good" enough tip but never was I made to feel bad about it. I saved the extra 10 dollars I would have gladly given had I been happy, and I bought myself a much needed mocha. I felt I was the one who deserved a tip, after that experience. I will not be returning.

Thania had appointments booked back to back, and while I really appreciate how hard she works, my appointment felt super rushed. I paid $135 for a blowout and straightening, but she was working on my hair and another client's hair at the same time (switching back and forth with her assistant). I made it clear from the start that if my inspo wasn't doable, I'd be happy to choose something else and she said it was possible but I ended up getting a blowout with just straightener touch-ups on the roots, as it was the only way to match the inspo. This wasn't what we initially agreed on, but I didn't want to change the inspo to avoid causing heat damage to my hair. My hair looked fine at first, but since it's naturally curly, it only lasted about a day and a half, even though she said it would last longer. Overall, I think Thania is pretty talented, but for $135 (before tip), I expected a more focused service and longer lasting results instead of a rushed appointment that is shared with other clients.
