My wife and I ate here tonight, 5/1. This was our 3rd time dining here in-person, with 4 other times ordering food to-go or for delivery through doordash. Our experience tonight was not pleasant! We ordered appetizers that were an appropriate temperature, but were delivered by two younger (maybe late teens/early 20s) staff, one a dark haired male and one a blonde female who dropped them on the table dismissively and left before we could say thank you. Our main meals, both hibachi, the vegetables and filet were lukewarm or cool on the edges. My fried rice was warm/hot only because they delivered white rice when I ordered fried rice. I sent it back. Our server (a 30s or 40s blonde, petite female who has served us before and I think is the manager) did her job to occasionally check on us, but was quick about it and dismissive. She seemed more interested in going through the motions of "good service" than in actually giving good service. I did not feel telling her about our food temperature would matter. The service was lack-luster. The food, while tasty, was lukewarm or cool. This was a special night too! We were celebrating our anniversary. Our experience left a bad taste in our mouth! I told myself that I would write another review as we truly do love the restaurant and staff. We came back last Friday and the service was 100% better. We sat at the bar again and were immediately greeted and offered menus. We even joked with the service about the yum yum sauce and how it's basically seasoned mayonnaise. I will say that I'm basing this review off the fact that I've ubereats ordered from this restaurant for the past two days, so I can't speak on restaurant service. However, the service through the care that they take to package pick up orders, is really great! They give ample soy sauce packets, ginger, & wasabi. I'm shocked to see that this place has such a low rating. I've Uber eats the past two days and each time, it has been at a different time of day but the consistency is the same. The rice is hot and fresh, as well as the other ingredients inside of the rolls. They are proportionate when it comes to the rice and inside content balance, and the sushi is so good!! This pregnant mama will be ordering again today for the third day in a row as it's been satisfying my craving for sushi. Went here after a long day of work. I was initially impressed that they have a female sushi chef, but was otherwise disappointed. That chef was open-mouth chewing gum while preparing food. During this pandemic. None of the staff had masks . I saw no one wash their hands. The miso soup is almost $3 for a TINY serving. Its instant soup. We all know it, so why such a high price? The roll was good. Everything sounds the same on the menu. Not a huge raw selection. But, for me the worst part of the experience is the strong smell of the cleaner (Mr clean? Lysol?) that they used to wipe the counter. It ruined the taste of the food (smell is a big part of taste). They cleaned the counter with towels and then didn't wash their hands after touching the chemicals before serving food. I got a text with one of those BOGO offers. Sometimes the free roll is a cheaper one so I asked the waitress and she said it was good for any of them. Cool. I order 2 of the same. When it comes time to pay somehow she has JUST found out that I can only get a cheaper roll for free so I'll have to pay for both but I can order a free one to go. My bill should have been about $18 but I ended up paying almost $40. This should have been resolved by having a manager approve what the staff originally told me. I really don't like giving a bad review since I am a multi-business owner myself and understand the importance of positive reviews, but I think this is extremely necessary. My review is based solely on health concerns during the current pandemic. When I first walked in to dine there was not many people, but then the restaurant started filling up 100% capacity. If your worried about your health then this might not be the best restaurant for you, because they do not practice social distancing and not a single employee in this restaurant was wearing a mask - including the sushi chefs preparing and rolling your food! This has to be the only restaurant that I have walked into that did not seem to care about the health and safety of their patrons. They could have at least put up booth extensions like Texas Roadhouse, since they want to squeeze everyone in at full capacity. It also wasn't such a great experience to have several kids sat directly behind me kicking, screaming, breathing and slobbering all over me, as they hang over the booth and invade my personal space. What made it worse is the fact that the mother actually acknowledged that her kids were being brats and apologized but did nothing to rectify the situation. Again, if proper procedures were in place then this would not have even occurred though. Was the food good - yes.. despite the fact that pretty much every single specialty roll is similar with shrimp tempura. They do offer a lot of rolls on the menu, but all seem ridiculously similar and fried. I guess I was hoping for a bit more raw options and non-similar varieties. Prior to visiting this establishment, I did notice a lot of reviews that complained about the price. In all honesty, I don't think the prices are any different then what you would pay at any other sushi place. Pricing here is pretty standard and the least of their problems. Service was sub-par, we asked for napkins twice and the server said okay and left to go sweep the floor and never came back with the napkins. Similar scenario happened with drinks and everything else. Then we patiently waited for the bill and without the server even handing us the bill, she reached over and just grabbed my debit card that was sitting on top of my wallet on the inside of the table and took off to run my payment - without first asking if we were using that card, splitting checks or whatever the case. It was a bit rude, since I usually like to see my itemized bill before payment. The sushi being gross and overpriced is the least of my concerns with this location. For me it is the ignorance and immaturity the "owner" possesses. The horror stories i hear from past employees of this location is just terrible. Ordered from door dash. Filet mignon and shrimp hibachi, 2 sushi rolls, and jalapeño poppers. The food showed up and was all cold. There were 6 small shrimp and 8 bites of "filet mignon" a scoop of rice and literally 3 bites of mush veggies. It was 3 shreds of broccoli 2 half slices of zucchini and maybe some carrots? This was a $25 entree. They forgot to pack one of the 2 sushi rolls in the order. And I got the jalapeños poppers which were completely different and much smaller than last time I ordered there. My total order with tip was almost $75 and I got enough food to feed maybe a single person. They packed 1 set of chopsticks and 1 lonely packet of soy sauce. We took it back and they said both rolls come in one box then opened the box and said "we forgot one of the rolls" ... ok yes. That's why I am here to return it. No offer to remake fresh food. RnR Sushi Pace, is still on the newer side, so expect to wait a couple minutes if you arrive at prime time on a weekend. They have a real sushi bar, and you can watch the rolls get made depending on where you sit. From a distance, it looked like there were two or three sushi chefs that were making rolls. Rolls (ZZ top and Journey) were taking 10-15 minutes with the restaurant completely packed. Hibachi chicken, shrimp and filet mignon took about ten minutes. Bring a friend and order sake bombs.
