I was craving a banana split and right away I came across this gem of a find. This ice cream shops has a very unique decor. It's like you stepped back in time with all the old school decor and music. I loved it! It felt so nice and nostalgic walking in. The ice cream is all homemade! You definitely can tell the difference compared to other ice cream places. This was my first time at Rock n' Roll Scoops and I loved it. They have so many ice cream flavors and everything looks amazing. I heard the staff mention that all the ice cream is homemade, which is really impressive. I ordered two scoops with cone : coconut and pistachio . Both were delicious, but the pistachio was my favorite. The girl who served me was very sweet and friendly. Even though it's just an ice cream shop, they still make you feel very welcome and cared for. It's like a cross between a 50s diner and a Mexican ice cream shop. Only in SoCal. Someone did a great job decorating this place. It's mostly filled with 50s decor but, here and there, those Mexican influences come to the surface. It's funky and delightful. Now onto the ice cream. There are your standard flavors but there are unique ones, too, like s'mores and tiramisu. The ones we tried were very nice and tasted very fresh. Of course, they also offer banana splits, shakes, aguas fresca, churros, and more. To round out the decor, there is a gorgeous jukebox (sadly playing electro-plastic 80s tunes instead of 50s or at least ranchera music), a Donkey Kong game machine, and a bubble gum machine. Super cute shop, was surprised this was here as we live close by and didn't know about it until yelping sundaes. It's in kind of a crappy shopping center but the shop itself is super unique. We spit a banana split which seemed like a good deal with 3 flavors and toppings. For our flavors we chose Oreo, Ferro Rocher, and s'mores. S'mores was my favorite. There's a new icecream parlor in Vista and it's got a lot of personality! Rock N Roll Scoops is a small brand that is the epitome of a vintage 60's diner, but with a Mexican icecream parlor twist!! You can find this hidden gem in plain sight in a very inconspicuous and yet convenient location. It's located just north of the 78 Hwy, off the EMERALD Exit and on Vista Way. They are in the same shopping center as Smart & Final grocery store and they are on the south side. The interior of Rock N Roll Scoops was done with so much thought & care! From the tiling, to the wallpaper, to the iconic posters, jukebox, portraits and even a working gum-ball machine! Every attention to detail had the intention of launching back into the 50's to 60's era! But, to be fair, there's also 70's & 80's iconic brands & paraphernalia too. The service is fast and friendly and I love their cute uniforms!! They were very patient with me learning all of the Mexican-inspired flavors. I also love the ambience with the classic rock, pop hits and big band jump! There's also a lot of Mexican bands playing too. They make all of their ice cream & their ice pops in-house daily with fresh ingredients & they have over 50 flavors to choose from! Thats about 25 ice-cream & 25 gelato pops. They also have agua frescas, acai bowls, old-fashioned kid candies (like ring pops) and a large assortment of ice-cream bars too!! This place is totally decked out!! There's plenty of parking in the front lot of the shopping center and although the inside is a little cramped, there are some tables that sit couples very well. But space is limited. The size of their sample spoon is great & the entire place is clean. Their bathroom was immaculate! They also have Jarritos soda pop, classic Coca Cola and an assortment of bottled drinks. What I DIDN'T see was ANY water available! It could be that they sold-out, but I'll come back to confirm this and report in a post Overall, I am truly in love with the vibes here and due to the large assortment of flavor combinations, I can tell that I'll never get bored! The lady behind the counter was very friendly, giving off the impression that she enjoys her work and interacting with customers which does a good job of putting you at ease to take a peek at their 40+ flavors. She said that they try to use all natural ingredients and make all the ice cream themselves - I can't verify that myself, but the pistachio ice cream we got tasted pretty good and the price seems decent for higher quality ice cream (about $5 for one scoop, $8 for two scoops, and an option for three scoops that I can't remember the pricing on). There were also paletas and some pre-packaged ice creams, and some of the signage suggests they have also have frozen bananas (but I didn't get a good look at these or try any). We stopped because we saw a post on Instagram but will not be returning. The customer service with the young lady was unapologetic and unprofessional. My family came in and spent $25 dollars for ice cream. My son accidentally dropped his ice cream and she was so rude and said it wasn't her problem that once it was in our hands it was our responsibility. Mind you that I was just informing her so she can have someone pick it up. I wasn't expecting to get another ice cream. If she would of had better customer service I would of bought him another cone. This place is amazing!!! It's like walking into an old-school ice cream parlor from the 1950s, only it's run by your cool funky Tia with the hoops and thick eyeliner, lol. The ice cream is homemade and outta sight; and they also have aguas frescas, paletas, sorbets, ice cream truck goodies and pretty much every American and Mexican frozen treat you could want.
