Having had various professional affiliations with this organization over the past ten years or so, I've seen this orchestra experience remarkable growth in recent years, due in large part to the energetic and artistic leadership of conductor David Amado. I suspect most people don't even know the DSO had a national release (Telarc, I think!) recording last year with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. (Which was nominated for a Grammy!) They're that good! The DSO has been progressive in their programming with a nice mix of the standards, and a few out of the box productions like the orchestral scores to the Bugs Bunny cartoons - performed live WITH the films. But most importantly, the orchestra is composed of first rate musicians, performing in the historic, beautiful (though admittedly - a bit dry) hall that IS the Grand Opera House. (Worth going to a concert just to catch a glimpse of Wilmington, circa 1900!) As one who has become increasingly passionate about supporting local enterprise, be that the nearby, sustainable farms or family owned fine dining establishments, I hope more Delawareans will come to realize that they have this fine orchestra right here in town. These are difficult times for orchestras all over the country - hoping this one continues to thrive!

I was looking for a start up drum set and he told me about the Pearl and ludwig sets on the shelf . Once I knew the price included everything to get started I was sold on the Ludwig set! He wasn't sure if sticks were included but they were inside the box so it is a great set for anyone looking to get started . There are no instructions in the box but youtube has an excellent video on set up , tuning and how to get started playing which was very helpful. Ryan also brought the set out to my car and helped me load it so I was very pleased with the service and I will be. back for sure. Thanks again!

Walked in and was impressed by the multitude of instruments on display. As a prior band geek I was enjoying all the reeds and mouthpieces available while heading to the guitar display. There were some people looking at guitars and it seemed like one of them worked for the store, but I wasn't sure. I wandered around the guitars a bit, waiting for the guy I thought might be working there to break free and talk to me, but that didn't happen. Turned around and saw a woman behind the counter, she didn't look interested in moving to assist either. I had a little time so I walked around the store some more. Saw piano books, some were on sale, made a mental note to share this with a friend. Walked back to the guitars. Identified a few that looked interesting. Waited. No clue where the woman behind the counter went, and the guy I thought maybe worked there was setting something up for the other customer. Or maybe he didn't work there, I couldn't tell. After about a half hour of looking around I left. Not one person said "hello", "are you looking for something", "can I help you" or even "what do you want". It's not like I can't buy what I'm looking for on Amazon and have it delivered to my front door. What I want is to support local, but that's a little hard to do when you're ignored while inside the store. Told my friend about the music books and my experience here. Doubt either of us will choose to step in the door to waste our time.

If you are looking for an amazing wedding band that guests will not stop talking about The Goody…read moreBlue Shoes are that band! We got married in Cape May 5 hours from where we live. An amazing live band was the most important thing we wanted at our wedding. We are fortunate to live in an area that in the summer has endless bars with live music. It is our favorite thing to do but we are also very picky. We had full intentions of hiring one of the local bands we love and having them make the trip. After one meeting with John of The Goody Blue Shoes that all changed. His energy, expertise, and good vibes are infectious. You can tell that this is more than just a job to him and he goes above and beyond to build a relationship with his clients. Even though he had other events going on we always felt like we were his only couple and he always made time for us. John goes over every detail and was almost like having a second wedding planner. His main goal is to make your wedding day perfect in any way that he can. No is not in John's vocabulary if you want something he will make it happen. We could not have been happier with the whole planning process and John made it as stress-free as possible. The band is incredible, our guests cannot stop talking about the band and how amazing they sounded. We had one guest tell us they wished they had heard them before booking their band. They said they are 300 times better than the band they hired and would have flown The Goody Blue Shoes to Maryland! Another guest told us it took him a minute to realize that it was the female vocalist who was singing during our ceremony not a recording. These are just a few of the many amazing things our guests had to say about The Goody Blue Shoes. They will learn all your first dance songs and even learned a few of our favorite songs that we love to see live. They will not just learn the songs you request but crush them and make them as special as the original versions! John is also an amazing MC, all night he keeps the party rolling and makes sure everything happens as intended. Hiring the Goody Blue Shoes was the best decision we made and we can say confidently that our wedding would not have been the same without them. Their pricing is extremely reasonable and we felt they went above and beyond what we paid them for. John, I cannot thank you and the Band enough for making our wedding night perfect. Right from the beginning we told you we wanted our wedding to be a huge party where everyone was dancing, and you exceeded all expectations. We will miss our planning calls, texts, and Zoom calls but we will definitely be partying with you guys again soon!

They graciously hosted & MC'd our event & handled little details like games, special song requests and prepared a special solo for my cousin to sing with them- which sounded so GREAT! The whole construction of the studio level ups far beyond any other medium-large set up I seen and revivals if not, beats many NYC studios. It is hard for me to describe how amazing it is but let me quote their webage so I won't paraphrase anything. "The New Studio Crash is a beautiful recording studio built from the ground up to be world class in the field. With a nice large control room, a huge 840sq ft. live room with 14 ft slanted ceilings, an isolation room, a vocal booth, and two separate amp closets we have plenty of isolated spaces to get great sounds without the need to overdub everything. This makes it possible to record very large groups live and still have plenty of elbowroom and acoustic separation. Construction. Many studios may beautiful on the surface, like ours, but what's really important here is the stuff you don't see. So what is inside the walls and below the floor? Our construction entailed room-within-a-room construction. This means the walls you see are actually TWO (2) walls; each of which have two layers of " drywall and special acoustic insulation for sound absorption and a 6" air-space between them. These walls are floating on a layer of neoprene for even more sound isolation. The two pieces of glass in the 8 foot window separating the control and live rooms are each 1/2" thick, adding to the sound control. Under our new strand woven bamboo flooring, each room has its own individual "floating" concrete slab, decoupling it from the other rooms' floors. Even the HVAC was carefully planned, with every send and return having it's own insulated flex-duct all the way back to the HVAC unit. We even installed that HVAC unit in a separate building to keep it's mechanical noise far away from the studio space. The new studio's room acoustics are wonderful. Careful consideration in the design was spent on choosing room ratios as mathematically non-correlated as possible, in order to achieve evenly distributed axial, tangential, and oblique room modes. This means we get an amazingly smooth and accurate frequency response in the room ambience. This is something practically impossible to achieve without building from scratch like we did here." Mike is a PRO PRO PRO engineer. He has a new control surface going from a C24 to a D-Command as well as some focusrite preamps. He can also work on analog consoles as well as digital. The only downside is the breakroom can use some working on (unfinished floors) and parking is a bit troublesome, (I parked in the CVS lot across the way) but what can you do?!? I'd take that perfect mix over anything! See you soon again Mike!
