This is not a classy smoke shop or lounge. You can stop in here for your cigarettes or to pick up some basic grocery items. There just happens to be an entire aisle dedicated to cigars. The cigar selection is impressive and diverse, although many were not labeled with names or prices. The cases are locked, but one of the girls working here was happy to assist us. When she realized we don't speak French, she went to get someone else to help us. We did not have many questions aside from, "what's good?" No, the girls are not tobacco experts, so it is probably best that you know what you are looking for yourself. My husband selected a single Monte Cristo, which he enjoyed on the terrace when we returned to our apartment for the evening. Cigars, and Cubans in particular, are a bit pricey in Canada, but I believe this cigar was less than $20. Pat & Robert also has Cohibas, Dominican cigars, and tons of others I did not recognize. He found what he was looking for and was satisfied with his purchase. I appreciated that we were able to get help in English without any fuss. The store itself is messy, the aisles are packed, and it would benefit from a good cleaning.

A very small selection of hats for women, but then you don't go there looking for an Easter bonnet or an Ascot percher. This is where you go for haberdashery, men's hats. Marvel at the antique display cases. Amuse yourself by trying on the ten-gallon hat. Smile at the sight of the colourful top hats, smart boaters and economically-sized bowlers. It was everything that I had hoped that it would be. Their one concession to modern merchandizing is a credit card machine. Others have mentioned the store being here since the 70s and I can totally see that: the mirror, the very worn round velvet sofa etc.. I'm not sold on the quality of the clothes yet, but definitely on the unique styles. I found a couple of mod dresses I'd love to wear, and a lot of plaid (never enough plaid in the world). The prices are steep, and it bugs me since they aren't made in Montreal. Still keeping an eye on things though.
