Pat & Robert Tabagie is a small convenience store and was recommended to us by someone when we asked about Cuban cigars.
The aisles are narrow and stuffed with merchandise. This is not a classy smoke shop or lounge. You can stop in here for your cigarettes or to pick up some basic grocery items. There just happens to be an entire aisle dedicated to cigars.
The cigar selection is impressive and diverse, although many were not labeled with names or prices. The cases are locked, but one of the girls working here was happy to assist us. When she realized we don't speak French, she went to get someone else to help us. We did not have many questions aside from, "what's good?" No, the girls are not tobacco experts, so it is probably best that you know what you are looking for yourself.
My husband selected a single Monte Cristo, which he enjoyed on the terrace when we returned to our apartment for the evening. Cigars, and Cubans in particular, are a bit pricey in Canada, but I believe this cigar was less than $20. Pat & Robert also has Cohibas, Dominican cigars, and tons of others I did not recognize.
He found what he was looking for and was satisfied with his purchase. I appreciated that we were able to get help in English without any fuss. The store itself is messy, the aisles are packed, and it would benefit from a good cleaning. read more
