There's also a very humble selection of men's pieces, but not too much and forgettable. I saw an Editorial Magazine canvas tote bag in the window, and I had to get my hands on it - it featured Clay Hickson's illustration, hand-screened right here in Montreal. I also found a cute pink sweatshirt to match (because, everyone knows I'm all about the hoodies/sweatshirts), so I purchased that as well. I was slightly annoyed, as the same canvas bag was found in another store a few blocks away that was $5 less T___T The female employee was super friendly and helpful, and you are more than welcome to have your items be put on hold while you shop some more. Great vintage store!…read more It was close to home, but I never went there until this week... I was hoping to find a really cute high-waisted jean skirt! (And I did, yay!) This shop was filled with clothes and there was light, nice music playing in the background. Otherwise, it was pretty quiet and I enjoyed the quietness. There were racks of clothes, a bit more for women than for men, but still lots of stuff for men. They also selled beautiful, intricate jewelry, cute notebooks and a lot of other things made by local brands. The clothes were really cute and a lot less expensive than some other vintage shops, yay again! Definitely would recommend this place to go shopping.

However I was so impressed with the online experience I had to write a review anyways. So first I was very excited that the dress I was interested in was available in plus sizes - i used the sizing chart and because I was inbetween I sized up deciding if I needed to I would get it altered. if I didn't like it I could send it back because they have a solid return policy. I ordered the dress on a Thursday morning, paid for standard shipping and assumed it would arrive sometime next week since I live in Alberta. Imagine my shock when it arrived the NEXT DAY. Opened it up and everything was beautifully wrapped in ribbon with a beautiful note to boot. The dress is gorgeous - it will definitely need some hemming but I could not be more thrilled. I 100% will be buying from here again.

************Changing my review of Boutique 1861…read more I originally gave this company a 1 out of 5 stars, due to a situation, which I've detailed below. Now, I'm giving this company a 4 out of 5 stars because I've spoken to the Manager of the boutique and I'm quite satisfied with our discussion. I will place an order with them in the future and once I've done that I will further update this post to reflect my experience. ********************************************************************************** I really wanted to like this company. Their dresses look beautiful and I was truly very excited to get my new dress in the mail. I've read that they come in these beautiful boxes and that their clothes are really quite nice. So I don't comment on their clothes, because I didn't get mine. But I can comment on their costumer service. I had purchased a dress on Sunday (Easter Sunday) and by Tuesday I was sent a text message that my purchase had shipped (whoohoo!). On Wednesday I thought I'd check to see how far along it had come but the Canada Post # was incorrect (I put it into the Canada Post tracking field and it said that the # was wrong). So I spoke with Melanie about it and she said that they actually didn't have my dress anymore and that they had made a mistake. I was super disappointed because: A) They charged my credit card B) They sent me a faulty Canada Post tracking number C) And I had to contact them three days after my order to get this information (They say the dress will take 1-5 business days to get to your address). When I asked for a discount code on a future purchase (because I was still interested in trying the company out) they said no. I was a little confused because this was truly their mistake and as a new costumer, I thought they would be more sympathetic. Anyways, I've uploaded the entire conversation thread to this review. You can read it for yourself. Oh and at the end of the conversation, a new rep comes into the conversation, Miriam. She says that there is nothing we can do and actually they require 1-3 days to box the item and then it gets shipped out. Which doesn't make any sense because why was I sent a shipping # at all then? Instead, I was sent a shipping number and as a result, I assumed (like most people would) that their order was on its way. Unsatisfied costumer.
