I had the most bizarre experience at Style Labb yesterday…read more Just have to vent, so I'm sorry this is long. I had booked an appointment with a stylist at Style Labb, the owner actually. Had arranged the appt online, so I didn't know what she looked like. The raving reviews convinced me. I arrived 15 minutes early and sat down. It was a small, intimate salon. A stylist was working on a client. They had a pleasant conversation. For 20 minutes I sat close by without even once being addressed. Not a word, no eye contact. Oh well, I had my phone - and had found a parking spot in front. Life was good. The stylist finished with one client and without looking at me now called a young woman over, who had just entered. After hugs and chats she started an animated consultation with her. Hair samples were pulled out etc. It was now close to 10 minutes after my appointment. I was a bit confused and asked if someone was coming to cut my hair, thinking that there was maybe another stylist who was running late. I was in no hurry, just wanted to know. But no, the stylist who had ignored me the entire time was indeed mine! And to make things even more weird, she now yelled at me if I couldn't I see that she was doing a consultation and that I was rude for interrupting and also rude for having shown up early! She looked at her watch and said she would finish the consultation and then come and cut my hair. Her aggressive attitude didn't make me feel very good about having her near my hair with scissors, so I responded that I didn't think this wouldn't work for me. She got even more upset, ran up to me and told me she would charge me $160 if I walked out. I'd be a no- show. I honestly didn't know how to respond. The other client suggested that she could wait until I was done, but the stylist dismissed that and now screamed that she had changed her mind, she would not cut my hair, something she repeated multiple times with the F bomb thrown in. I left (rather fled) and the last I heard was that I I was F... rude. During this entire bizarre experience I only spoke a few words and never raised my voice. I have no clue what triggered this unhinged and unprofessional behavior. She had never met me, I was dressed nicely, yet she was impolite from the moment I entered the door. My only thought is that I, being in my 70's, didn't fit her profile of a client for her salon. Yes, she is Antoinette, the owner of Style Labb.

Yelp is my go to when traveling for everything restaurants, services etc. I was going to be in…read moreSanta Fe for Thanksgiving weekend and needed roots done on my hair. I looked at reviews ahead of time and contacted Maggie at Sanctuary Salon. She called back quickly to say she had availability the day after the holiday. I had my formula from my reg hair stylist. Not complicated very basic 7N 20%. I arrived and the service began. I struggled with whether to write this review or not but after contemplating I think it's important that service providers get honest feedback otherwise they can't improve. Maggie also volunteered to do some foil highlights for me which I usually do every other apt. I agreed as long as it didn't impact her schedule. The end result was that I'm not sure what happened but she didn't really put the root cover throughout for example both sides around my ears got nothing so gray remained and the gray cover on roots didn't last. I have very little gray as it is. I thought when she was done that something was amiss and then the next day I knew it was the case. As far as the highlighting foils you couldn't tell I'd even had any highlights at all. My hair really looked like it did when I walked in. I'm not sure if it didn't process long enough or the formula was wrong or what happened maybe I needed a toner applied not sure . I paid quite a bit for these services and gave a very nice tip. What I have learned is that I really need to do more research and make sure the reviews are more current. I don't mind paying for great service at all and Maggie was very nice I just wish it had been a quality service.

Lori is MAD SKILLED and I am so grateful to have discovered her while on vacation. She took one look at my pandemic locks and got a glint of genius in her eye. I feel like a million bucks but the cost of my makeover was definitely not expensive. For the cut, color, and highlights she gave me I would have paid at least 50% more back home, and let me just underscore that the quality would not have been on par with what Lori did for me. Topping it all off, like another reviewer (Avalon W.) said, Lori was the perfect mix of friendly but not intrusive throughout the interaction. Kind and normal, indeed! Also I enjoyed interacting with Kristin who was working next to Lori's station while I was there. She was such a sweetheart and gave me a free bottle of shine treatment which Lori applied for me at the end of my cut and color. I was convinced that I needed a keratin smoothing because I couldn't get my crazy frizz tamed but Lori has proven what I've read and heard but never experienced that with the right cut, I can actually love my crazy curls. Thank you so much Lori (and also thank you for the recommendations for things to check out while in town: Bandelier Monument and Bradbury Museum, here we come!)

I googled hair salons and found Sandra. She took me in on a day she normally doesn't work. She understood right away what I was dealing with. 10 months earlier I had decided to dye my dark brown hair silver. COVID gave me some substantial root growth. Long hideous story short... a woman at a salon near my home in Denver, CO absolutely stripped, bleached and RUINED my hair. I had to cut off 7 inches. Not only was it not silver but it was bright yellow straw. When I walked in, Sandra immediately knew what to do. She introduced me to the miracle that is TONER!! She made my hair silver!!
