Kumon Math and Reading Center of Daly City

Reading through these reviews, it seems that people are different learners and if there is…read morecriticism, it is about the method. Humbly, math is a process that takes time, discipline and good old "show your work" pencil and paper. That's something that is taught here. My kids learned to sit and focus. It isn't a place where there is unorthodox learning. Bring your kids here to learn, be patient, and methodical. They will take skills with them to confidently and independently use for their future.

Not only are my kids are strong with math, the one thing about Kumon is extremely helpful that people don't understand is that my kids have developed a very strong attention span towards working on a task. This will Ultimate help them with not shying away from what's in front of them one day in life ( I am a strong pbeliever in it). Another huge benefit of Kumon is repetitiveness. Students are required to do worksheets everyday and this triggers them at a young age to learn and adapt doing certain daily task per day and skipping it is no option. My wife and I literally go crazy make them do Kumon everyday - but we know it is all worth it. So how Christine will help: If you have been doing it for 30 years, you have seen enough kids that gone through there. The experience will her and her staffs will definitely help our kids to better themselves as they r giving more kids to work with and larger sample size to help. Lastly I believe her sons help with the business which is nice to hear this place as a family establishment. Bring your kids in and let them develop this skills asap

In just a month, I saw my grade significantly improve almost a whole letter grade. It is a nice and quiet learning environment that I would recommend to anyone!

It was probably a bit much for any child to sit in a much smaller-than-expected classroom for a whole day for 3 weeks, but the educational themes sounded promising so we did it anyway. Unfortunately a few days into camp she came home telling us that there was a group of kids and their teacher who speak english in the same room including one child who would have fits and shout "bad words" all the time. When I brought this up to Jason, he told us that they take kids with special needs in additional to trying to run a mandarin immersion camp. While I think it's great that they were willing to take children with special needs, it's not particularly effective to put those 2 groups each with very distinct needs into a small, one-room space (the room looked to be about 450 sq ft max). Moreover, I was particularly frustrated when no action was taken to stop the obscenities (my child probably learned as much obscenities in english as she did chinese in those weeks). Each time Jason was informed that yet again, today was another day with foul language disrupting camp, his only response would be "I apologize for the foul language and have spoken with the teachers and parents about it. If the foul language does not stop, the camp will have to take appropriate needed steps as it violates our camp's code of conduct. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our camp tries to be inclusive." Perhaps we were too patient and understanding, as apparently no action was ever taken since the behavior continued throughout. This place was truly regrettable and I wish we could have taken our child out after that first week and spared her the obnoxious behavior she and the others were subjected to.

My son was always happy, engaged in fun and educational activities, and making progress every day. My daughter attended over a year ago, and we still talk about the special memories made there. From the very first day, the staff made us feel welcome and at ease. The teachers are incredibly nurturing, patient, and truly understand early childhood development. They not only taught my child the basics--letters, numbers, shapes--but also encouraged kindness, independence, creativity, and confidence. The school is always clean, organized, and filled with fun, engaging materials. Every week brought exciting themes, hands-on activities, and adorable art projects that filled our walls at home. My child especially loved music time and outdoor play in the safe and spacious yard. Even after graduating, my child still asks to go back and visit. That says everything to me. Thank you, Little People Preschool, for giving our family such a positive start to our educational journey. If you're looking for a warm, enriching preschool in a caring environment, I highly recommend this gem of a school.

Michelle and her staff have created a wonderful environment for play, learning and growth…read more Our son started at Panda Garden when he was 20 months old, and it has been a very positive experience. Now, nearly 2 years later, he is moving to preschool, and will bring with him a great foundation for that next step - language skills, eating well, sharing, and so many other things that he has learned thanks to Panda Garden. The facility is clean, safe, and organized, with great indoor and outdoor spaces. Our son LOVES the food and always eats well. Panda Garden has a weekly curriculum, with lots of seasonal, cultural and academic activities (including Moon Festival, New Years, gardening, the seasons, counting and so much more). They also take field trips to the local parks to help get that extra energy out. Panda Garden was recommended to us from a friend, and we are so glad that it was. We highly recommend it to any parent looking for Mandarin immersion for their little one!

From day one, Panda was like a second home for my daughter, and her teachers made her feel safe, happy, and excited to learn. The care at Panda is exceptional. Michelle regularly rotates toys and equipment to keep things fresh and engaging, clearly prioritizing the kids' experience over profit. She sends photos and updates throughout the day, which helps parents stay connected to their kids' activities and experiences. The curriculum is thoughtful, engaging, and fresh, as Michelle and team constantly introduce new lessons and activities which evolve as the kids grow. Beyond academics and language, Michelle and team teach real-life social and emotional skills like how to handle conflict, share with others, take turns, and express their feelings in a healthy way. Michelle also hosts periodic parent-teacher conferences where she shares personalized tips based on her deep experience, helping parents better support their kids at home. Language immersion at Panda Garden was a huge bonus for our family. We speak Mandarin as a second language, but our daughter came home singing songs we'd never heard, using new vocabulary, and even teaching us! Michelle and the staff were also incredibly supportive of our own language development--patiently explaining things when we didn't fully understand and helping us reinforce the language at home (Michelle speaks English well, but we wanted to speak with her in Mandarin for our own practice). We are also incredibly impressed that students from non-Chinese-speaking families are able to hold fluent conversations with us in Mandarin after just a short time at Panda Garden, a testament to the effectiveness of language immersion in such a nurturing and supportive environment. We're so grateful for the strong foundation Panda gave our daughter, and we're already excited for our son to also start at Panda next year!

The school seems split relatively evenly among native speakers and those learning Spanish as a second language. Both groups excel greatly at Retoños. My wife and I speak Spanish but we were raised here, and it's important to us that our daughter also speaks Spanish. Maestra Karen and her staff, Maestras Jessica & Stephanie, are skilled, kind, and patient educators. The school is so well organized and structured with clear lesson plans, monthly newsletters that are thoughtful and informative, and several events held throughout the year that bring the families to the school for fun events around holidays and for Mother's / Father's Day. I thought we would only have parent-teacher conferences once she got into elementary school, but Karen does them for these extra-little ones, and I have to tell you, she is thorough! One of the most remarkable aspects of Retoños is their success in preparing non-native speakers for Spanish immersion programs after they leave. When we applied for schools (SFUSD) with Spanish immersion tracts, we knew our daughter would have to test into some of them. Despite not being a native speaker, she passed her test and was accepted into the Spanish Immersion program for NATIVE SPEAKERS! We couldn't be prouder of our little girl, and we know that her success is a direct result of the care and education at Retoños. We're incredibly grateful for that. Even at the playground near our house, I watch my daughter effortlessly switch between English and Spanish depending on who she's playing with. I can't recommend Retoños highly enough and encourage anyone looking for an early education Spanish program to reach out to Maestra Karen and have a tour. Truly a special place.
