I so enjoy leaving a positive review for a business that demonstrates excellence in every way!…read more Hoss of Greenbelt Appliance Repair is knowledgeable about appliances old and new, works hard to be able to at least stop by and assess the problem the same day you call, and sets up a timely repair--even when he has to order parts. I have an older dishwasher that wouldn't close and it turned out the latch was broken and had to be ordered. But the part arrived super fast and a couple of days later my dishwasher was up and running. Here's what he DID NOT DO: 1. He DID NOT charge a fee to walk in your front door. 2. He DID NOT try any sort of "bait and switch" tactics -- did not say, "Oh, well your dishwasher is an older model, and you need a new dishwasher. 3. He DID NOT charge by the hour and then take forever to complete the repair. He completed it within a half an hour, started it up and did a cleaning rinse, and determined that it was good to go. 4. He DID NOT charge me an arm and a leg for the repair--I felt that the total for parts and labor was VERY fair. I told him I expected that I would be needing a new washer and dryer in the future; he asked to look at them, and told me they were in excellent condition and easy to repair and to hold on to them. Who demonstrates that kind of integrity these days??? :-) Glad to say that Greenbelt Appliance Repair does!

First let me say that I wouldn't have even called him if I could find the parts I needed…read more I called and told him that the either the defrost heater or one of the sensors was out because the tube between the freezer and the fridge that the cold air transfers through was frozen and I had already checked the fan and it was kicking on and off as it should be. (ALL of that is within the freezer compartment.) I scheduled an appointment for the next day. I wasn't available when he showed up but John was so he let him in and showed him the fridge. About 15 mins later I came out and he was working on the back of the fridge. I thought well he must be checking the compressor, you know start at the beginning of the cycle. Ok. Pretty soon he tells me that the "starter" was out and showed me a small box. I told him go ahead and fix it. When he is done there he packs up his tools and writes me a bill. ($85 service call just to show up) I pay him thinking this is kind of odd but whatever. I expect him to start on the other stuff next. Nope, I see he's heading for the door. I stop him and ask if he's going to check the defrost heater. He says, get this, "I couldn't find it." All he had to do was open the freezer door, I already had all of the covers off. I swear I was in total shock. I couldn't even say anything. And he left. $208. It takes about 3 days or so to see if it's still freezing up. WHAT DOES IT DO, you ask? FROZE UP! Well he doesn't take my credit card and pulling another $2 or 300 cash out of my budget again that month wasn't going to work. I wait until I have more cash and call him back and NICELY explained that since he didn't even check what I had asked him to check in the first place I would appreciate it if he gave me a break on the service call fee. He literally laughed at me and said "Well, I have to charge you the service fee." Now, I don't know if it's because I'm a woman (it's happened way too many times before) or what but he totally 100% discounted everything I had told him was wrong. Even after I told him I had already replaced one of the sensors (thermistor) he still just ignored it. Now I will admit that I don't know everything about refrigerators hence calling a professional. But he fixed something that was working before it started freezing up and didn't even look at what I PAID HIM TO LOOK AT. If I could give him negative stars I would.
