I had a very disappointing experience today at the UPS location on Wisteria Drive in Germantown…read more I was expecting an important medication that required a signature for delivery. Unfortunately, I missed the delivery at home, and after receiving a final notice that the package would be returned, I paid approximately $8 through UPS to have the package held at this Wisteria Drive location for pickup. I went to the store this morning to retrieve it. The employee immediately told me the package was not there and would not arrive until Monday. There was no effort to check the back or verify the tracking information, so I left. Later in the day, I checked the UPS tracking information again and saw that my package was in fact listed as being available at the Wisteria Drive location. Because this was medication that I needed, I drove back to the store a second time. Again, I was told that the package would not be there until Monday. When I explained that UPS had specifically notified me that it was already at that location, I was questioned about when I received the notification and asked to show it. Unfortunately, the internet connection inside the store was poor and I was having difficulty pulling it up. Rather than hold up the line, I asked the employee to assist the next customer while I tried to access the notification. Eventually, after I continued to insist that the package should be there and explained again that it contained medication, he finally asked for my name and ID and went to check the back. Less than a minute later, he returned with my package. That is what concerns me most. The package was there. I had already made two trips to the store, paid UPS an additional fee to have it held there, and was repeatedly told it was not available without anyone apparently taking the time to simply check. While I was waiting, I also observed other customers being turned away over relatively simple issues, including a customer who did not have a shipping label printed and another whose box needed tape. I understand that UPS stores have policies and may charge for additional services, but customer service should involve helping people understand their options rather than immediately dismissing them. I am not writing this review because I expect every problem to be solved for free. I am writing it because customers deserve to be treated with courtesy and to have reasonable efforts made to assist them--especially when UPS's own system says that an important package is already at the location. Management should review the customer service practices at this store. Today's experience was unnecessarily frustrating, and in my case it involved delayed access to medication. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve the way customers are treated at this location.
