Being a groom's men meant I didn't really have a choice as to where I rented my tuxedo from...I honestly wish I had. I was sized about 3-4 weeks prior to the wedding, it was a fairly pleasant experience, and the employee taking my measurements seemed to know what she was doing. Well, come the day before the wedding, she clearly had no idea what she was doing. I was sized completely wrong! The tuxedo coat was huge. I mean it was like a blanket with buttons. They told me that I would have to drive to their other store to get another size, but only after I expressed my displeasure with this, they informed me they would "rush" the suit coat and come back in the morning. The awkward hours of the store (Opening at 10:30) really put me in a jam, because I had to meet at the groom's house for 11am.
ANYWAY...the story doesn't end there. I returned the next morning, where the employee was 10 minutes late. I grabbed my garment bag, and then I said to myself, maybe I should try the shirt on anyway, but who would size my undershirt wrong? THEY DID! It was a XXL!!! Now, I had 10 minutes to get to the groom's house and I looked like a total idiot in my ROBE like shirt. I asked if they had any other shirts and the lady told me I would have to go to Fall River to get a white shirt!!!! So I had to do like 90mph to get to Fall River, where the employee there was literally as fast as a turtle! I finally snapped and told him I'm already behind schedule...he couldn't even careless!
Regardless, the next day I returned the suit, but I forgot the bow-tie. Actually, the bow-tie was with the Bride. I gave it to her the night before to put in her clutch, because I was far too intoxicated to remember to keep it close. When I returned the tux I informed the girl that I do not currently have the bow-tie, but I will return it when I come back from vacation myself. I was gone about three weeks.
Upon my return, I literally had 10 missed calls, 5 voice-mails (each getting progressively more demanding and rude from an employee named Lynn from the Dartmouth Store). Lynn even had the gall to call my friends looking for the bow-tie. She called me every day for nearly my entire vacation, I obviously couldn't respond because I was in a different country...I informed the girl that when I returned the suit. Lynn even told my friends that I was ignoring her phone calls!
Apparently, Robert's Tuxedo is a collection agency as well. Needless to say, I hope their cheap bow-tie was worth never having my business again. read more
