The Roof Doctor - 2024 WInner "Best Roofer"

The Roof Doctor

Rittenhouse Square, Penn Center

I had a great experience with The Roof Doctor. They were fast, responsive, and professional. The…read moreonly downside is that they do not offer financing, so I had to secure that elsewhere. I had the roof on a West Philly rowhouse I bought last February replaced. After going through a huge headache with another roofing company that was supposed to do my roof before the winter, I had to scramble in December to find a new roofer. I got at least 6 estimates. Roof Doctor was not the cheapest, but their price was reasonable and they did not just use Google images or drone pictures to assess my roof. Someone came out while I was at work and examined the roof. He called me while on top of my roof. He was one of two roofers that mentioned my porch roof needing replacement and that there was a lot of water damage to that portion of my house. For a little extra, he redid the main roof and the porch roof. They did the work quickly over two cold December days. He even called me asking if I wanted them to reconstruct part of the porch or just do the roof replacement. He said I could save money by fixing the roof now and waiting to do the more cosmetic reconstruction later on in my next round of home improvements. Their office person Willow was very responsive over email. The next rain, we noticed a leak. I emailed Willow and they came out that very day. They noticed some sealing work that had been overlooked and they fixed that. I haven't had any more problems so far and it has rained heavily three more times. I would highly recommend them.

Requesting an appointment was easy on the website, a real person emailed me to schedule the visit, he showed up right when he said he was going to, brought a ladder to go up to the third story, came down and explained to me exactly what was up there and how often the roof should be checked, and is going to follow up with pictures next week. He was very nice and explained everything very straight-forwardly. A really easy visit I should have scheduled a long time ago, I will absolutely be contacting them again in the future if it comes time to make a repair!

Sorry for the late post. This work was done in 2024…read more Had a leak coming into the basement around the chimney area. Called Reese & Sons because of their high rating and positive reviews. Lucas answered while on an existing job. He was very honest saying he can't drop by to make an assessment. Knowing the importance of the situation, he said he'll have his father drop by to take a look. The father (was it Joe?) came by as promised and saw that the previous roofer didn't put flashing around a portion of the chimney. He gave a couple of possible fixes and I picked the more expensive one. He gave me a break on price if i went with the more expensive fix which i appreciated. Before showing up for the work due to budgeting issues i changed to the lower price solution. He didn't have any problems with this change. He and his other son (not Lucas) came on the day as promised. The funny thing was I didn't know they were there until i heard banging outside! They ripped some of the old roof tiles, installed new flashing and overlay them with some leftover tiles I had laying around. They also caulked around other parts of the chimney. They cleaned up their mess. There were aome storms afterwards and no leak! Thx to Lucas for knowing the importance of the problem and having your father and brother fit me into their schedule. And thx to father and son (was it Joe and Ezekiel?!) for fixing the leak! I would definitely consider them to put in a new roof when the time comes!

They responded immediately and super helpfully. Even after we realized that I'm far too afield in Philly from where they serve in NJ, they were really kind and generous with their time and guidance. What nice folk. My loss for not living close to their service area!

Do NOT recommend. I…read moremessaged several roofing businesses via yelp for an estimate. This company asked for my address in order to provide an estimate. I gave my address and never heard back, so I moved on to another company. Today, 10 days after they never responded after I gave my address, while in the middle of a meeting, I hear a bang outside and my dog freaks out. I go outside to find two men with a ladder against the front of my house and climbing to the roof! I had no idea they were coming and they were fully on their way to climbing up my house without my permission! The problem wasn't even on the roof, so I have no idea what they would have done once they got up there. When I messaged the company to say I didn't appreciate them coming unannounced and unscheduled, I was told it was my fault for not specifying that I expected a call before they showed up! Wild. Do NOT send this company your address--even for an estimate--or else they may randomly show up to your house and climb up on your roof unannounced and they will go up there whether you are home or not. Then if it bothers you they will blame YOU!

I have found Marcy the owner is to be straightforward and honest, and though she can be a bit brusque at times, as she is in the Philadelphia roofing business I can understand. Their pricing is reasonable for quality of work. No roofer is cheap and if you apparently find one, don't trust them. We have a complicated roofscape (skylights, large AC unit mounts and penetrations, and major crickets required to clear drainage obstructions) and some leaking problems that predate our ownership. Castelli, and particularly their foreman Jimmy, have been generous in attending to drainage problems that may or may not have been a result of their work. I appreciate their work and the efforts made to help us negotiate our finicky roof.

If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate position of needing to deal with your homeowners…read moreinsurance following a tree swiping the back of your house, let me give you some advice. Last March 2024, during an especially windy day a country club's tree came down and whacked the rear of my house, starting from the highest roof, ripping down wires and landed on my detached garage where it sat until PECO could make it safe. I initially gave the go ahead for my insurer, who I'll call SF, to send out a contractor to assess the damage. Well someone came out, slapped a tarp on the hole in the garage, but seemed dismissive of the house damage. And then I heard nothing for the longest time. So, getting concerned I called Impriano to get their opinion, as is my right, since I had a good experience with them 13 years ago with a new roof. Jack Impriano came out and did a very thorough inspection finding a lot more damage than SF's contractor did, including a split rafter in the garage roof. He looked at the plan for repair that the adjuster had drawn up finding it completely inadequate, so he drew up his own. He basically worked directly with the adjuster, all while updating me about what was going on. There were many problems such as the SF contractor sending the wrong information to SF that led them to believe the work was complete when nothing was repaired. The contractors invoice included pictures that wasn't even my property. Jack Impriano handled everything, everything is repaired/replaced, their crew came out in the most inhospitable weather and did an excellent job. You could tell how well done my 13 year old roof was when shingles were removed. It's amazing how nice our new roof and siding looks. It's peace of mind working with a company that takes pride in their work, and there's good reason they've been around for so long. I didn't realize they also handle windows which is on my to do list. I don't think I would trust anyone else. Thank you Jack and Ed and the rest of your hard working crew, including the office, you guys were great, can't thank you enough.
