I'm happy to have found that Yelp* includes ratings of much more than just restaurants and furniture stores. Nice to find Gateway Home Health here so I can tell of my excellent care and therapy training I received from Andrea. I got my referral to Gateway from the Discharge Planner at Marin Post Acute. I had spent a month there being recently diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy. The transition from in-patient care to out-patient care could not have been better or more beneficial thanks to Andrea. It's been a year since my last session with Andrea. I still have the copies of exercises and a checklist of recommendations on what I need to make life easier by making movement less stressful. 1) New therapeutic bed. 2) Elliptical. 3) Exercise Bands Done, done and done. All of my sessions in the house were active with exercises in the house seated in chairs were thoroughly explained and guided as were trips outside the house with my brand-new walker. Up the driveway and out onto the cul de sac. Loved it! Andrea's kind instruction and guidance were exemplary. My middle-aged son was very impressed with my progress on those few short weeks. I'm still using my elliptical daily and most importantly, the knowledge and instructions she left with me each and everyday. Hazel, the Care Coordinator, did the orientation and streamlined all the paperwork with a very thorough interview. Andrea I will never forget you. If, in the future, I need Physical Therapy at home it will be Gateway.

He invited me to a joint session. First thing, I was greeted with a 2 sided page with a list of more than 100 words and phrases in small font that were considered "red light" words that I was not supposed to use. So right off, I was hesitating with every sentence so that I could check the 2 pages and use the "green light" words. Later on, when I started crying, John sat back, rolled his eyes, and said "oh please!". I said to him - "are people not allowed to cry here?". He then started to tell me he's not a male chauvinist; the "proof" is that he's married and has daughters. That doesn't prove anything. The last straw was when I was talking a lot, he held up his hands in a time out gesture, in a T, hitting the top hand on the bottom hand. I said "wow what was that?". He said what's wrong with that? I didn't do this - and he stuck up his middle finger. That was it. Never went back. Needless to say, he did not influence my husband in a positive way. I am a medical health care provider, and have been to therapy myself. This was very inappropriate and unethical behavior for a therapist - actually for anyone!

This review is way overdue. I highly recommend Alex for couples counseling. He literally saved our…read morerelationship. Before we met Alex, we were 5 years into our relationship and starting to struggle with very difficult situations that were pulling us apart. These were made worse with our opposing introvert/extrovert needs. Neither of us had strong role models in our family for successful relationships, and we were at a turning point. We were very serious about who we chose to help us. All of the therapists we interviewed before Alex had somewhat of a cookie-cutting approach to couples therapy. We felt that we could've gotten some of their info from reading a book. However from the first time we spoke with Alex, it was easy for us to agree that he was the right therapist for us. Alex treated us as individual people and an individual couple. His approach is empathetic, thoughtful, and calm. He pays attention to every detail and is tactful in all of his communication. You will see this starting from his intake form. In our sessions, he gave equal time to both of us. We did many session exercises to become aware of our individual needs. Many of the revelations surprised us and without his help, I'm not sure we would have ever discovered on our own. And he was exceptionally skilled in guiding us through difficult discussions. We were able to share scary thoughts, sometimes laughter, and sometimes tears (mostly I cried) as we became closer and more connected to each other, in each session and afterwards. My partner and I also made notes after each session, because we're both nerdy...but more importantly because we knew the information we had learned was gold. After a few months of weekly sessions, Alex told us we had made enough progress that it wasn't necessary to see him weekly anymore. But to instead, use the information we learned and schedule sessions only as needed. Today (almost 2 years later), we haven't had another session and we continue to use the tools and techniques he taught us. We are so much happier from this entire experience. We can communicate better, disagree without fighting, fight without yelling, share our love for each other in ways that the other needs and understands, and receive it in return. If you're on the fence about couples counseling, don't be. With the right therapist like Alex, and a willingness to learn, you can re-understand how to love, connect, and communicate. He is a true professional. Thank you Alex.

Turner was recommended to me by another MD because of his excellent reputation and because he supports complementary therapy like acupuncture and meditation, things I believe in. He takes copious notes but also listens carefully and returns phone calls promptly. I can pick up a talk thread from a few months' back and there's no wind-up/re-hashing to get back up to speed. (You can tell he reviews notes before you come in for your appointment). We all have problems and sometimes those problems need an impartial doctor to help you sort through them and move along through life's challenges.

True professional in every sense of the word. I also liked him (and knowing a bit of psychology myself) because he was so extremely insiteful and assertive with every motion or word you use. He is a wiz at narrowing symptoms down individually right off the bat and in a way that really puts things into perspective. Not like some doctors who just sit there and give you that blank stare like they are just wanting you to talk so they can slowly take down notes for next time. No. Dr Foote interacts, asks you questions that take the consultation to a productive level. Very sharp man. Love him.

I have gone to John McFadden for counseling from time to time for 30 years…read more He has the ability to ask me questions which help me to get to the issue that is really bothering me, which often is not the issue I think I am having trouble with. Most recently, he helped me to deal with a phobia about riding in a car when my spouse is driving. One session and, boom, I am doing 99% better. When going for counseling, it is important to find a therapist with whom there is a connection and an understanding. I found this with John. Before I came across him, I had been to a couple of other counselors in years past and they were no help as we just did not connect. They were not bad counselors. It was just that their methods of therapy did not work for me. If you are reading this review because you are looking for a therapist, do give John a call. He may be the right therapist for you.

He has helped me personally better understand myself, my interpersonal dealings, key relationships. Cliff was also helpful to my spouse and me, working together with the two of us, helping us solve several core issues and providing useful tools for us to experiment and explore with. I also had other family members meet with him, and all seemed to find him easy to talk with and we all felt he was objective in dealing with all of us. Overall, I think my family is very pleased that I have gotten help from this professional. I have seen several different therapists in previous years / locales. Cliff was able to diagnose several issues that had been long-standing with other professionals and actually help me RESOLVE the issues. In one case, a diagnosis he made led to collaboration with my general practitioner/Doctor - and a practical solution to a long-standing issue was identified...leading to a definite increase in the quality of my life. Cliff also seems to have a variety of "expertises" including the ability to address groups. He crafted sessions for a men's group that I'm part of and the group seemed to really enjoy the two 1-hour sessions that he ran. His knowledge of men's issues, couples issues and basic approaches to "negotiation" outcomes between parties was excellent. I have sent friends to Cliff to pursue counseling and will continue to do so.
