They are very kind when you finally get an appointment and they understand when you are so stressed and need help!

I would give no stars if I could. They never answer the phone. One has to leave multiple messages and still no return phone call. It takes several email requests for them to fill out the appropriate forms for work. Many times, I had to go to the clinic to get some answers, which is a 150 miles away from my house one way. I will not be using disability counseling again read more

UPDATED: Oakland Disability has still continued to not contact me regarding the medical documentation I have requested. I specifically requested a doctor's note indicating time and treatment of service with my diagnosis given. Currently no staff member has reached out or tried to help rectify this situation. I will have to consider legal action at this time for both this site and the corresponding doctor. read more

Just wanted to update my review .. I did hear back from their office early February & they wanted to schedule an appt with the next week or so but unfortunately, I was not available & asked to be scheduled another week out. They said their schedule was not open yet & they would call me when it was open. It is now April & I have not heard from them since. They took my $50 & have not scheduled anything. read more

Very helpful, really assisted me a lot! Leave a message, they will call you back and help you! Wonderful to have on your side when needed! Much appreciated to everyone who works there, thanks for all you do. read more

staff extremely rude, they loose your paperwork and say it's with the doctor when in reality they lost it. alm they care about is taking your money read more

I have made several calls to try and book an appointment now for over 3 weeks based on the recommendation of my coworker. Noone has called back and I could not reach a live person when calling, only an answering machine. I do not recommend this place of business if you have immediate needs. read more

This place used to be very professional, now it's IMPOSSIBLE to reach anyone when it's most important. I'm feeling hopeless in trying to resolve a simple note issue. Professionalism is no longer there. The doctors are great, the communication with DCS is near impossible. Emails go unanswered. Phone calls don't get answered. Leaving voicemails is like dropping a speck of sand into an ocean and hoping someone sees it. 100 calls later I give up. Godfrey used to be an excellent point of contact, he held this place together, professionalism on 10, he resolved issues when they came up, and now there is no way to reach him or anyone who plays his role. read more

Called for an appointment and they said it is $50 to book an appointment that is nonrefundable. Then another 150 for intake. After that, you will be automatically charge 175 every two weeks. You may have a condition that doesn't require two week review but it's automatic. This business gives a lot of red flags. read more

If I could give 0 star that would be generous. Fiart off it took FOREVER AND A DAY to get in contact. The first two months was ok but after that pure hell. And word to the wise if you dont want them constantly charging your card at any time get sezzle. its funny how you cant contact them but they will get in contact with EDD Quick stopping your disability. If you can find someone else...anyone else id say go for it the counselors are good but billing is TRASH. I am happy that I have another dr willing to help and I won't have to pay her for my disability. read more

I feel heard, I feel like I'm given real solutions to what I'm going through and things that I can do to strengthen my outlook on certain situations. read more

The counselors are extremely caring. If you are looking for someone to talk to I recommend DCS.

To provide an update if you have not worked in the last 90 days they will not help you with disability claims as per their "new policy". Before, if you had work history in the past year and a half they would help you, but not anymore. Was told this after 6 MONTHS of being on a waitlist. read more

They do what they are there for. Can't expect more than that. Nothing glamorous very direct and to the point.

Started the program in July, and it took me a few months to get to where I am now. I am so grateful and thankful for Dr. Jeff and this program. I encourage everyone to utilize this program to help with focusing on healing depression, anxiety, and mental health! Dr. Jeff has been phenomenal at guiding me to the path of healing. Since I've been with the program, I have drastically changed, and I'm excited for the future! I am revamped and still healing. It will take time to fully heal, as it took years of trauma. Thank you to the staff and Dr. Jeff, for always being so helpful and prompt to work with me. They have made me feel important and valued as a patient dealing with my disability. Everyone's mental health is just as important as physical health. 10 out of 10, I recommend!! read more

You keep calling them to set up an appointment. I left at least three messages for different dates. They never returned your call. I went there physically to find out in Oakland and parking was $4 for every 30 minutes. I spoke to representative at the desk. She said they are fully booked and took my name and phone and she said will add to the waiting list. When I got there there was not a single person waiting at the lobby. Why can't they at least return calls? read more

Really helpful in times of need. When I was dealing with depression and couldn't handle working and managing this I was able to get time off and leave approaches by them (they are accredited and legit) read more

Hell no! My whole experience with these people has been a freaking nightmare! No phone number you call where you can get a hold of anybody, they may text you back, it took me almost 3 months to get my first paycheck because they didn't do the paperwork right. This is such a scam, the only thing they care about is getting your money, period! I'm seriously thinking of filing a complaint! read more

I'm finally getting help for my ptsd, depression and anxiety. Without having to worry about being forced back to work while I'm in treatment. I'm so grateful for this place. It's all a process, but once you're able to get an appointment, they walk you through all the steps. Just follow directions and you're on your way! read more

I have always loved Dr Macfarland, Godfree, Ashley, and Dr. A. They have helped me out with healing on several occasions, while not forcing me back to work which ultimately saved my job. read more

I have been a member/ client in two separate occasions and have yelled from the mountain tops how AMAZING my experiences were both times. Everyone is so patient and understanding. I appreciate the time and attention each clinician and staff gave me. I didn't feel rushed or forced and I was allowed to process at my pace! Like another poster I think the negative reviews came from those looking for instant success.. mental health is a process.. read more

They don't answer the phone to even make an appointment. Makes me wonder if they are busy or just too lazy

This is a busy place be patient when trying to contact them for the first time. Once you do, you wont be disappointed the staff is very welcoming, caring and supportive. Dr. McFarland is very compassionate and will most likely be the person you encounter first. I felt very comfortable sharing personal details of my life that lead me to contact DCS. Godfrey helps you with paper work he is very professional and friendly. He is very thorough knows his work and answers all your questions. I would like to thank Disability Counseling Service for their excellent services and helping me through major life challenges. These people are passionate about what they do and it shows. Thank you again. read more

My experience was great until my two week follow up appointment. The rep stated she disagreed that my mental health wasn't a disability. I told her the Physician took me off of work because of the stress, and she told me since I am so stressed to quit my job. read more

Very helpful. Would recommend this place. Seems su Quite bust but they get the lines moving pretty fast read more

Disability counseling helped me tremendously. The bi-weekly check-in's were very beneficial.

Save yourself the trouble. DO NOT pay with a credit card. Pay with cash and obtain a receipt. Because they will charge your card without your authorization. Even after you tell them not to put it on file. There's more to my review but I'm seeking legal action. But just be careful. I would definitely search other options if you can. read more

This place will get you in quickly, but they're very poor at answering the phone. You leave messages and no one calls back. I still will recommend because they're friendly and really on the client's side. read more

DCS & STAFF I recommend this place couldn't be anymore thankful for them. I encourage everyone who needs help healing with stress or depression. Jennifer has helped me from the very start to booking my appointment to the first day I walked in. She's outstanding, She is so sweet and has gone above and beyond to make sure I get all the help I need. I get lucky and every time I call I get through her. I haven't been disappointed. Even with a call back she's guided me when I've felt stuck. She's made me feel important and valued as a patient. Just yesterday right before they closed Jennifer still took my call and helped me through my disability claim till the very last minute of them closing. As well for Breyda. They are a true definition of TEAM WORK. They have both showed me they work together to make sure I'm on the right path in this journey they are beautiful human beings. THANK YOU DCS and Mr. Godfrey for having outstanding employees and Company. read more

I am a member of kaiser and it is hard to get appointments and I feel that kaiser is just motivated to get you back to work and does not listen to what the patient is going through. I was hesitant on the reviews but everything is straight forward. You have an appointment every two weeks via telephone, it can be as long or as short as you want. They help you develop coping skills and I felt like my psychiatrist smith was very understand and listened to what I had to say. Talking with her helped me start processing my feelings. My next appt was with LPT Horace he was kind and understanding. He let me talk about my feelings and I got a second perspective and he as well helped me understand why certain coping skills work and do not work. The bad reviews are coming from people with instant results. By law the Providers have to meet with you every two weeks to justify why you are in leave and of course they charge you a fee. If you can't afford the fee and they can't do an assessment then of course they will release you back to work because they have no justification of why you cant return to work. read more

Great experience staff really does care about their patients. Thank you Chasity for all your extra help and Latoya for everything you do.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This office is a pure scam and they are liars, was referred by a friend for my stress, and was treated so nicely when they received my payment. Then during intake they will tell you that if you have medical you can reimbursed for the appointments. Well I'm here to inform you this isn't true they aren't in any networks that will reimburse you for the expensive short visits they offer. They are also very shady once you can't afford their appointments and I'm saying so shady they will go to edd and tell them you could've returned to work when you in fact couldn't. Which will result in you owing money so definitely watch your back ! I am not letting them get away what they did to me they also will steal money off your card without your permission I wouldn't recommend there are so many better honest doctors l. They sit around and joke about taking cruises while bleeding their patients for money they don't deserve. You guys are horrible and I hope my review saves someone from the kind of games this doctors office plays They will ignore your calls as well when it comes to them doing their job but will blow yours up for a payment don't go through read more

I don't recommend this place to anyone. I've filed several complaints against this place to Godfrey. On 11/23/21 I called Disability Counseling Services several times until the office manager finally picked up the phone so that I can get a release back to work. I was transferred to Godfrey. This man is so evil and he's a liar. This man/Godfrey tried to charge me $160 for a appointment that I never called/had and he tried to charge me another $160 for him to sign release back to work. I explained what he already knew and that was my extension was only 6/21-9-15-21. I also asked for a referral out to see another doctor because how I was treated since I've been with that organization. The referral that Godfrey sent to me were doctors that was worse off than them. They never answered or returned my calls. I also learned that Godfrey has been keeping a check on my EDD without my permission. First off... How the hell do I owe Disability Counseling Services anything when they purposely refused to call me on the day of my next appointment 9/9/21. Second off.... I requested for referral out that he gave me a list of BS doctors. Third off.... The extension ended 9/15/21 even EDD told me that. My point is.... Always document, record all conversations/request all calls to be recorded and know your rights as a patient. Because if you don't they will get over on you and take your money or overcharged you for something that you never had. Also save all emails and file a complaint to the Medical Board of California. The more complaints that the Medical Board of California receive. The more change will happen. I don't give a darn what race you are or what you're going through. It is not okay for supposed to be wanna be man of God to treat patients/people any kind of way....Period! This place needs to be investigated asap! I never seen or heard of any organization who's supposed help people be so money hungry. It's also not right for Disability Counseling Services to charge patients $160 for a 5 minutes appointments. All patients are supposed to be given 50 to 60 a session not 5 or 10 minutes. It's also against the law for non doctors to give out any of information HIPPA without your permission to outside resources. It's also against the law for non doctors to run your ssc number to check your status of a new doctor if you are no longer under their care. Once you find a new doctor. Your new doctor will take over your EDD and your release back to work or any documentation that you need not Disability Counseling Services. read more

Professional and helpful. I was surprised by the quick appointment to get in for the first assessment and how quickly processing my health concerns was completed. I would like to thank Dr. Macfarland, Dr. Arguelles, Mr. Godfrey and staff of Disability Counseling services for providing to me D. D with excellent, professional counseling services. The services that they are providing for me are helping me cope and address the issues that were plaguing my everyday struggles with life. They listen to my concerns and worries, they address them, they guide me to solutions. They are passionate about their jobs and care... I can reach out to them as many times as I need them ... I don't have to wait for a schedule appointment... when you're having a crisis isn't it good to know help is right there? Thank you for helping me be me again! D.D read more

They were very polite, professional and caring. The Doctor listened to everything I said and made me feel comfortable.

If nobody else is willing to speak up. I will. For months my cousin has had difficulties as she was under the care of Disability Counseling Services. Half of her calls/concerns were ignored. Money was taken without her permission twice. She had to ask several of times for a receipt or a confirmation number. After my cousins submitted several complaints to Mr. Godfrey regarding her concerns about her calls, payments, money orders and appointments. My cousin was dismissed from Disability Counseling Services without notice. She was given an appointment by Dr. Argulles for 9/9/21 on 8/26/21 and no one called her. She submitted several emails with her updated information as well as left the office manager Ms. Gutierrez a voicemail 9/8/21 and no one called to confirm my cousin's appointment that was given to her by Dr. Arguelles. How my cousin was treated by Disability Counseling Services was very unprofessional. People are there to get help and to recover from their situation. Patients are not there to be ignored, money taken without their permission, talked to any kind of way by the staff at Disability Counseling Services. What happens if you need help? Disability Counseling Services are going to just let the phone ring while they take your money because they never answer the phone. No! Right is right and wrong is wrong. I think people should know what's going on. Just because a patient is in need of care. It is not okay for doctors or staff to mistreat their patients. I don't recommend this place to anyone. read more
