Dr. Turner asked to speak with my therapist before taking me on as a new patient after I told him I'd been abused in childhood and suffered from that in adulthood. He seemed perfectly happy to take me on before he asked and found out more details about my personal history. I've *never* had a doctor not take me on as a patient, or fire me as a patient. I've been in stable condition for a while and need medication management for meds I'm happy with. I was interested in working with him because of his holistic approach. I told him I need a new prescribing physician soon because my refills will be up in a month - he understood and said he needed time to "think about it." This was on Monday - he said he'd get back to me on Friday. 5 days go by, waste of my time - because I already suspected what turns out was his "decision." Yep - he said he decided it "wouldn't be right for HIM" to take me on right now. You're a doctor, but you won't work with a patient who really needs it? But you were totally fine with taking new patients before you found out these details of childhood trauma and its effects in my adulthood, asking for extremely personal information, going so far as to get permission to speak to my therapist, then using psychiatrist-speak to cover up that you don't feel like taking someone on with abuse history and probably more needs? Guess you'd have to do actual work, then. What a shame... it's already tragic that children being abused are largely abandoned to suffer this abuse throughout their childhoods. It's even worse when a guy like this, a physician, who supposedly took the Hippocratic Oath and promised to help people and do no harm, turns their back on them when they ask for help in adulthood, for what he admits are selfish reasons.
