Dr. Donald Stanford has been my psychiatrist since September of 2019. The only regret I have now, as his patient during that relatively short time period thus far, is that I did not happen to come across his practice sooner.
It is my understanding that Dr. Stanford will be closing his practice soon in favor of what is, inarguably, a richly deserved retirement. As such, I imagine (but do not know for certain, to be clear) that Dr. Stanford's patient roster is closed to future new patients.
With that in mind, this review stands perhaps as more of a testament to the quality of his services and high standard of care, rather than a recommendation that everyone rush to seek him out.
That said, if my assumption is incorrect, then: Everyone! Hurry, rush to seek him out! [smile]
Dr. Stanford's bittersweet retirement announcement comes after an impressive and lengthy career of over 54 years (!!) as a Doctor of Psychiatry, serving patients in the Berkeley, CA area.
When I first became a patient of his back in 2019, I personally felt compelled to refer my mother to his practice after only a few visits. Since then, and without regret, she now travels the 100 mile journey from her home in the Central Valley to attend regular visits in his care.
Being that she is nearly 80 years old and does not relish driving long distances at this point in her life, please trust that her endorsement alone stands as quite a testament to his professionalism, his intelligence and exhaustive knowledge of his field, and most certainly, his kind--but always honest and straightforward--demeanor.
Thank you, Dr. Stanford, for all you have done and continue to do for your patients.
I would be remiss if I neglected to extend a significant thank-you as well to your Administrative team, from the former administrative personnel Linda and then Jamie, now to Lily (and apparently Linda has returned, just one day per week, which is wonderful) who currently handle all of Dr. Stanford's scheduling and keeps the front office running day-to-day.
I, as doubtless do your other patients, appreciate all that you do to serve those in your care.
You--that is to say each of you who comprise Dr. Stanford's team, current and former--will be sorely missed when the time does come for professional parting of ways.
Dr. Stanford: I trust that you will enjoy a well-deserved retirement that is relaxing and fulfilling.
Clearly, you have helped many and in so doing have amassed a distinguished lifelong body of work. You deserve a retirement that is pleasureful in equal measure.
Best wishes to you, in advance, for all of that and more in the years to come.
Thank you, KM read more
