Reading the reviews on here really validates how my son felt when he got off the phone with Dr Dismond. When my son expressed the desire to go into graphic arts he asked him "what are you, a kid?" Proceeded to tell him he should be an electrician or plumber and not waste his time and money on college. He was rude and hostile from the beginning and anytime my son expressed himself he belittled him and basically told him he was wrong. He definitely thinks only his opinions have merit and really doesn't care about what the patient has to say. It was extremely disappointing. Waste of time and money. Avoid at all cost. read more

My experience with Dr. Dismond this morning was an absolute nightmare. I cannot express how deeply disappointed I am. His conduct and demeanor shattered any positive expectations I had gleaned from his website and podcast. My phone appointment with him was an excruciating waste of both time and money. Dr. Dismond's misogyny and arrogance were appalling, and his utter lack of willingness to listen was infuriating. To make matters worse, he incessantly foisted his own beliefs upon me, as if they were the only ones that mattered. When I divulged my career aspirations in law, his response was nothing short of bizarre. He vehemently opposed my choice and outright refused to provide treatment unless I bent to his will. His level of obstinance not only left me deeply frustrated but also left me questioning the sanity of his unprofessional behavior. I wouldn't recommend his services to my worst enemy. I just got accused of lying and threatened with legal action by a man whose "assessment" consisted of telling me to shut-up, reading a random form anyone could have printed online, and ignore proof of a previous diagnosis he requested. Update: Years later, I'm all the more clear how extremely uprofessional Dr. Dismond was. The disparaging tone and abnormal, angry, and impulsive outbursts that he exhibited throughout my appointment continues to affect me to this day. Dr. Dismond additionally seemed to know little about ADHD from a mental health standpoint, which makes sense as he is not a psychologist, psychiatrist, nor therapist. Finding a trustworthy healthcare provider is not always an easy task. I am so grateful that I found NorCal ADHD. I was diagnosed with ADHD in elementary school but my former treating clinician(s) never wanted to treat my ADHD. I was on a constant search for someone to help me and was treated for other suspected conditions - all of which I ended up not having. Dr D. listens to his patients. Dr. Dismond was extremely rude throughout our whole phone call, which he started with a 5 minute rant telling me that if i'm not majoring in Stem, I just shouldn't bother going to college (I told him I was a history major). I told him I went to junior college and he followed that up by saying employers will think poorly of me if I take longer to finish college. For someone in the mental health industry he was extremely out of touch. I told him that ADHD affects pretty much every facet of my life, but all he wanted to know was what it physically looked like when I struggle with ADHD, and those of us who have it know how difficult that is to describe. He condescendingly told me that because I didn't display total passion for my general education classes over this phone call, he would refuse to take me as a patient. Bottom line is this clown is a total waste of time so don't bother wasting your money. For someone who specializes in ADHD he clearly does not understand it very well. Especially for a mental health who uses phrasing such as "people like you" after a 20 minute phone call should tell you enough. No one struggling with mental health should have to go through an experience as horrible as dealing with Dr. Dismond - genuinely the rudest and most unprofessional doctor i've encountered. I've been working with Dr. Dismond for the past 60 days. His approach is thorough, methodical and his treatment algorithm works. He specializes in diagnosing and treating adults with ADHD. This is an entirely different "animal" than treating children. We are oft overlooked. Understand that I am a Pharmaceutical Rep and have been working with HCP's for 22 years. I "know" Doctors. Dr. Dismond is special. He has a great bedside manner. He is accessible. Through the Spruce app, you can get answers to all questions and you get to report in every day. He correctly diagnosed what has been a life long problem for me and began careful treatment. We titrated to the correct dose for me while handling adjacent issues. He is open to suggestions and feedback. If you know what you are talking about and are not just parroting "Dr. Google", Dr. Dismond is willing to listen. This much I know... every human body is different and every person responds to medication and treatment differently. His algorithm allows for the flexibility to find the sweet spot. To be frank, his diagnosis and treatment have helped me immensely, saved my job and my marriage. It has brought me peace of mind. Dr. Dismond is methodical in his approach and will NOT deviate from Cal DOJ guidelines. That is a very GOOD thing. That shows his commitment to providing the best standard of care. This is a "concierge" service. You have to pay for the initial consultation and then under $100.00/month. In return, you have access to him almost 24/7 and he will work closely with you to tailor your treatment to achieve optimum results with minimal negative affects. My own everyday FP would not even consider this treatment. It is heavily regulated and must be heavily monitored. Dr. Dismond is willing to put in the work. Be ready to report in every day on the Spruce App. The more data Doc D. has, the better he can keep treating you and helping you overcome a condition that can "cripple" your life. read more

Wow wow Wow! Dr. Dismond is amazing! The office is right off of BART and super convenient (i don't have a car). The only downside is that they only see patients on Friday, which was hard to fit into my schedule. The fact that I can have follow-up visits from home more than makes up for it. read more

Dr Dismond was incredibly rude and condescending within 5 seconds of calling us. I specifically chose him because we need an assessment for ADHD and his staff assured me that's what the first phone call would be for. When he was told there is no diagnosis, he immediately refused to take us. I tried to ask follow up questions as to why we were told he would do the assessment and his response was "my staff can't answer your narrow questions" in a very aggressive manner. Dr. Dismond and NorCal ADHD have been a fantastic discovery for me on Yelp. Dr. D's virtual bedside manner is second to none: caring, non-judgemental, quick to solve problems, and enthusiastic about his work. He's always responsive to requests via the secure medical messaging application Spruce. I recently went to refill a persciption and the pharmacy made a few errors and couldn't fill my persciption. He was right on it each time until we finally resolved the issue. I was so thankful for his help because the holidays were coming and the pharmacy was going to be closed. I traveled to their Oakland office and met with Dr. Dismond in-person. After the initial visit, the follow-ups have been from the convenience of my home. As a busy professional, I find that this clinic allows me to fit the physician within my schedule without the time going to the clinic and waiting to be seen. I've been treated for ADHD for several years, but my psychiatrist's office is no longer convenient. Since I'm in the east bay, I was intrigued by NorCal ADHD. However, before switching my care to another doctor and paying a hefty $250 fee to have an initial consultation, I wanted to make sure I understood his credentials (Dr. Dismond is not a psychiatrist, and does not list any ADHD-specific qualifications. Also, a google search indicated he's a primary care doctor that primarily used to write marijuana prescriptions on Haight street -- both of those things are great, but perhaps not the expertise that I'm looking for in psychiatric care.) I tried to listen to the "weekly" podcast to see what he was all about and found there is only one episode that is very low on details about his approach. Then, I emailed the practice, asking for more information about his credentials. They were unwilling to provide any details over email - saying I'd have to schedule a call to talk directly to Dr. Dismond. But -- here's the kicker -- that they'd charge me $250 at the end of that call. To me, that is *far* too much to pay to talk to someone whom I haven't yet ascertained is qualified. It seems baffling that a legitimate psychiatry practice would take this approach. read more
